Deuces Wild #4

Birthright

Rate this book
When Nickie follows Prince Prissy-Pants to a random, isolated location in space, what she discovers leaves her reeling.

And cussing…

In the way that only Nickie can.

One thing leads to another and she ends up on a mission to save a whole system from chaos. Unfortunately restoring order depends on her ability to deal with two royal sisters – each battling it out for the crown.

Each for their own deeply personal reasons.

Tabitha is thinking of her very young niece, and what led up to the fateful moment of her third birthday.

Would she be able to handle the operations Barnabas gave her, and make it back in time?

Or would the job of Rangering take her out of the area for too long, and crush the little girl's heart?

Can Nickie learn from her Aunt’s stories, and resolve the dispute?

Will she have to make the hardest choice of all - for the sake of the system?

What will she choose for her own future?

Find out now!

Join Nickie, and The Kurtherian Gambit’s original Ranger 2, Tabitha, on a rip-roaring, bar brawling adventure to save the frontier from slavery, arms dealing and the ‘Skaine’ of the universe. Scroll up to the top and hit the ‘Buy’ button or read on Kindle Unlimited for free!

Great Series

I'm really enjoying this Arc of the series in the previous arc Nickie starts to grow up and comes to some realisations. We continue to see this carried forward with the element that she's plucked up enough courage to go home to High Tortega the majority of her family moved there when the federation was founded.

Most of the family are away and she meets Ranger 1 and goes on mission to help a system join the federation. I hope she gets to meet the new characters(children from her Aunts and uncles).

When I wrote the review to the previous book in these stories, I was under the mistaken idea that this fourth book, Birthright, was the last in the series.

Imagine my happiness in learning that it isn't, and that there is, in fact, a fifth book which, unfortunately, I won't get to read for a while, as there are around twelve books to be read from other series, between this fourth book, and the very last, in the Deuces Wild series.

That's okay. I'm sure I'll just about last between the readings (sob)!

But, seriously, this series has been a really Wild ride, with Nickie being who she is, and this particular book is totally pivotal to the whole plot, as we find, through Nickie's reading of Tabitha's diary, her journey back from the cold wilderness, and to the edges of the warmth of her family's love, forgiveness, and understanding.

I laughed at the plot to kidnap the princess, and found this a nice break between my wonderful readings from Tabitha, and was super glad when John aimed for something more achievable than snagging Nickie - I just couldn't imagine Nickie with him! Lol

So, now that Nickie has faced her internal demons, I imagine that there'll be a few surprises in the final book, which I won't see for at least ten days at my rate of reading - but, looking at my reading list, the book for me to start next, is another new series, to me, called: Enemy of my Enemy, with book one being: Any Port in a War!

As usual, I don't have a clue what it's about, but I'm excited to find out, so I'm off now, to see 😁

Another great story

This ties the other books together very nicely. The flow is better than the previous books, but that is to be expected as the characters grow.

If chapter 11 doesn't hit you in the feels, you are probably not human.

Can't wait for book 5.
The pitchforks are ready, Anderle, don't let us down.

Thank you for the stories. These are some of the best human stories out there. The emotion and situations, even in far off space stations, colonies, and other locales, is very relatable. Occasionally, these books give insight to our own longings and grief, and helps us work through it. The ongoing issues with Pete and his survivor's guilt hit very close to home.

Thank you again for allowing us into this universe, Ad Aternitatum

Concurrent story

Another enjoyable entrance in the series. I love the intertwining of the two POV's. It seems like Tabitha knows just what Nickie needs to hear as she works through her own life. Getting more back story on characters I love, like Jean and Peter is a great bonus. Not to mention more Barnabas and Shinigami.
I do wish the author notes were kept to the current story and upcoming episodes and collaboration efforts with a link to author current events. I know they are showing slices of their lives, making them more personable, they just are really long.
Otherwise, don't wait, read this book.

Ell Leigh!!!!

Another amazing tale about Tabitha and Nickie. We learn more about each woman, about their lives and their history. We also see them growing and learning more about who they are and about the people they love. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and can't believe that Ell left us hanging like that! Please, PLEASE tell me it won't be long until the next book is released???? Like maybe tomorrow?

Great Read

Nickie and Tabitha are kicking bad guys butts, stopping them from harming innocents. But what happens when it's an innocent is who is preventing the greater good from happening. I like the action, snarky humor, and off beat romance. I like how the prior books in the series, have led the plot to its current culmination. Will Tabitha's diary entries keep Vickie on the right path? I look forward to the next book.

A ranger is born

Nickie has come on leaps and bounds and is one step away from coming home under her own terms. It was great to see how her special relationship started with Aunt Tabitha at the age of 3. She receives her first ranger coat and badge which stayed with her through good and bad times. It is also good to see how Nickie’s crew is also growing along with her especially Durq.

Rating this less than 5 stars would be enough to get you on Tabitha's most wanted list

I look forward to Ell's books albeit with high expectations due to the high entertainment level of all the previous ones. This one totally lived up to those expections and once again I am so left waiting for the next one.

Great writing

So glad that with Tabirha's help Vickie is realizing the picture she thought she saw of her family was from a child angle and was probably different. Having a crew family is opening her eyes.

Birthright

Nickie kicks ass and doesn't bother taking names, bonds with her crew, has boyfriend (?) problems, sorts out a critical dynasty problem, and learns her family history story is not what she thought. Ell once again delivers a great read in this exciting series.

And the rollercoaster continues...

Better than any amusement park ride. I picked it up and didn’t stop until I finished the book. I’m just glad the authors are keeping their schedule of deployments!

Wow

Nickie is learning that what she thought about her childhood was not correct. Barnabas gives her an assignment and it works out but not the way she originally planned. Read to find out what I mean!!

One of my all time favorites

Nickie is such a Grimes girl!
I really love the mix of emotions and action the Kurtherian universe is filled with.
Not many authors get it right but Ell and YodaMa knock it out of the park!!!

Vigilante

This KU library selection is a turning point for Nickie in her journey back home. It gives answers to several questions about her background and relationship with Tabitha. I'm looking forward to book five.

Can't wait for the next one!

I simply love these Dueces Wild books! I can't wait for Tabitha and Nicky to actually get to see each other instead of the stories! Not that I don't love the stories but I think they've both suffered enough:)

What fun

Ell has taken Nickie and developed her into an interesting and intelligent young woman. I love Michael's Tabitha stories too. We've reached the point where the diary entries are bringing fond memories to Nickie. If you don't know about the diary please start at Book 1. This book really shows Nickie maturing but by no means is she settled
