Indie-Award Winning Author Amber Lacie is about all things books, glitter, and shenanigans. Never without a book or caffeinated goodness, she's managed a husband that worships at her alter and two awesome kiddos, all while pumping out tales of love and suspense. Growing up in Chicagoland, she's seen the nitty, and knows the gritty. As for love and home, that landed her in Beverly Shores, Indiana where she dreams up adventures for her characters so that you the reader can explore new bends in the road. Buckle up.
Amber has knocked another one out of the park with this little gem, she can do no wrong in my eyes. Amber Lacie I bow to your greatness!!! 😂
This novel is about Indie (Indigo) and Lex (Alexander). Two people both struggling with their own demons, but when they come together they mend each other. They are such a hot couple. Every scene together sizzles with sexual tension. I felt like a firework ready to explode after reading this. I loved the character progression. Absolutely fabulous book. I can’t recommend it enough! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Also, if you enjoy this book, I recommend “The pieces that built me” by Amber Lacie. It’s another clinker xx
One thing you need to know about any of Amber Lacie's books and her writing style is: Expect the Unexpected. Ever since she wrote pretty; , then Breathe, l've always felt as though my heart was being torn apart, put through the grinder and then slowly put back together but in such a way that I felt vulnerable in ways I never expected. So it is no surprise that when I picked up Indigo I went in a bit scared and wondering how many band aids I'd need for my poor heart and how many Kleenex boxes I'd need to hide the tears I'd swear weren't falling down my cheeks. IIn a sense, I both did and didn't need these two things, but that didn't mean I wouldn't want them as I read this newest release.
4.5 sexy dreams
My heart was ripped to shreds in those two first chapters and then Amber Lacie put it back together piece by piece by using the most unlikely of things: sarcasm and humor. My god! Indigo is one tough nut, bordering on OCD and afrmaphobea, but this woman can dish it out as much as she can receive it. Lex, the broken man whose guilt has been taking over his life for the past 9 years is so awkward that i wish I could have taken him home myself and make him whole again [like a best puppy? !]
From the moment they started with these horrible pick up lines at the bar, (and how I laughed in my bed amid nearly woke everyone up with that one) Lex and Indie instantly became my all time favorite couple out of all those that Amber Lane has created so far. Oh... and considering, in my opinion, that this book was possibly one of her steamiest so far totally worked in my favor [probably because I'm one dirty bird, LOL], but this author does it in a way that you appreciate it for what it is -chemistry at its best and totally undeniable! To say that I'm looking forward to this author's next release would be an understatement, I'm impatiently waiting on bated breath for what she has to bring to life.

Popping my Amber Lacie Cherry with Indigo was a great experience! What a good emotional ride I went on. While there are quite a few laugh out loud moments, hot steamy scenes and some emotional scenes before you get to the end of this story.
Indie is a serious don’t mess with me kind of girl. She has a disease she suffers from called hoof-mouth disease. In other words, she likes to put her foot in her mouth and says what she thinks before thinking about what she is saying. Having been brought up in a house that was not full of love by two parents who sought out to hurt each other, she knows for a fact that cupid is not real.
Lex is on his way to play baseball in the big league when a horrible accident happens. Now living the life of carrying on and taking care of the ones he caused the pain and suffering to, he isn’t living life for himself anymore. Even though it’s wrong how he is living, he just can’t move past that horrible day that changed his life forever.
When Indie and Lex meet at the sticky as crap floor bar, pickup lines flow back and forth. It’s great to see how they both feel so free bantering back and forth. But will their past come into play and not allow them to go further than a casual chit chat when they see each other? Or will their past only make them stronger and allow them to be together?
Indigo is a wonderful novel by Amber Lacie. It is a contemporary romance, full of angsty, steamy, funny and emotional moments that will draw you into the story and keep you in its clasp from beginning to end. I was introduced to Ms. Lacie’s books through reading ‘Shadows’ and ‘Light’ and I really loved them, so when I saw this book I knew I had to read it too. It is quite different from the other two, but just as polished and enjoyable. Indigo Bryant is a highly successful interior decorator who lives a very routine, calculated and organised life. She grew up in a very dysfunctional family with a cruel, cold hearted and alcoholic mother and a distant, womanizing father. She felt like her family was a prison and couldn’t wait to leave. She doesn’t believe in love- it’s nothing but pain, emptiness and lies. Having recently left her cheating boyfriend, Indigo really needs a change so she agreed to go and spend the summer with her high school best friend, Erin. She’s been second guessing her decision ever since, but it’s too late to back out now. The last thing she was expecting was to meet a man who would turn her very precise world upside down. Alexander Clark had his world fall apart nine long years ago. He was a passionate baseball player who was getting called up to the majors- all his dreams were about to come true, when one reckless moment changes everything. He’s not really living life, he just makes the motions. Guilt consumes his days and nightmares haunt his dreams. He’s really in limbo, not able to move forward. Then he meets Indigo and a little light begins to penetrate the bleakness. Will she give him a reason to let go of the past and embrace the future? Ms. Lacie didn’t disappoint with this wonderful story. I am excited to read more of her work!
Amber Lacie never disappoints! Having read all of her other works, I was itching to get my hands on this story and dove right in. When you kick start a book with the kind of emotion found here, it’s bound to take you on a journey. Immediately my heart was put through the wringer and I found myself awake into the late hours because I didn’t want to walk away.
The lead characters in this book, Indie and Lex, are two hard headed individuals with strong personalities that easily carry the storyline. Indie is the kind of girl with fire in her eyes and a history of hurt looking for a fresh start. Lex on the other hand, is haunted by his past and spends his life trying to make up for the pain, burying himself trying to make things right. Love and happiness aren’t in the cards for either of them, but a literal run in at a bar puts both on a course that turns their lives in new directions.
There is a lot, and I mean A LOT of angst in this book (and if you’ve read Amber before, you know what I’m talking about!) I love that the focus stays on a core few characters so you really find yourself getting to know them and understanding them on a deeper level. I love not only the relationship that builds with Indie and Lex, but also the strength of the secondary characters and how her best friend, Erin, plays such a role in her life. You’ll also find yourself laughing out loud at super cheesy pick-up lines, growling in frustration when they just can’t see what’s in front of them, and of course it’s full of passion!
This book is packed with emotions. Lex is a man struggling to come to terms with his part in the deaths of his parents. He has spent the last 9 years trying to make up to his brother and his brother's ex-wife. Indigo is the woman who turns his world upside down. Indi is a successful interior designer who is looking for a fresh start. She doesn't believe in love, she thinks it just causes pain. She is strong and independent and has no idea how to handle her feelings for Lex. Sometimes love happens and you just have to hang on for the ride, and that is what happens to Lex and Indigo.
I received an ARC for an honest review. Amber Lacie is a genius when it comes to pulling on your heart strings. This book is no different, it is packed full of emotions. She spends plenty of time "building" her characters so you can understand them. Indie is independent and kinda reclusive but also has that wild and crazy fun side. Lex is clever and quick witted but also is kind of unsure of himself. This book will have you crying, laughing, holding your breath, cussing, wanting to smack someone, and yelling "finally" into whatever room you're sitting in. Plus there are tons of pick up lines and classy dicks, who wouldn’t wanna read this book?
I love Indigo and Lex's story. Lex has yet to recover from a long ago tragedy that he feels a lot of guilt over. While Indigo is fierce and independent, she has her own issues. Just about everyone but Lex can see the truth he has yet to face or accept. When he loses Indigo because of it, something clicks in him. This is a well written, pull your heart strings kind of book. I strongly recommend it.
Indigo by Amber Lacie is a contemporary romance. It tells the story of Indigo Bryant and Alexander (Lex) Clark. There are well written steamy sex scenes so I would recommend it for readers aged eighteen plus. Indigo Bryant: a self- made young woman who has successfully built and run her own interior design business. She is proud of her independence and strength, never wanting to depend on someone else for her happiness or her needs. Carrying emotional baggage from an unhappy childhood caused by abusive parents she feels that: "Love is overrated. All it brings is pain and shattered pieces. I've witnessed it destroy families and marriages. Don't put so much faith in it. It's a hallmark fascination brought to you by an armed fable character with a bow and arrow." Feeling swamped by work: desperately needing a change of pace to her lifestyle she sells her business and moves from the city to a more rural town, moving in with her best friend until she discovers where she wants to be. On a journey of self-discovery she learns that matters of the heart can’t be controlled and that perhaps love isn’t what she thought it was. She questions should she give cupid a chance after all when she meets Alexander Clark. Alexander (Lex) is stuck: not able to move forward with his life and relationships since a tragic accident left him with an overwhelming sense of guilt. All his hopes and dreams have disappeared and his nights are full of nightmares. When he meets Indigo he begins to feel life may have a purpose after all if only he can let go of the past and face the future head on, guilt free. The thing is – will she want to know him when she realises what he has done? Amber Lacie has written a heart- warming story of two people each struggling to make meaningful relationships for their own very different reasons. Each of the characters is very likeable, realistic and have depth. Whilst they are instantaneously attracted to each other their relationship develops at a good steady pace as first of all they become friends before becoming lovers. Their first meeting is funny as they play a ‘pick-up line game’ – this banter between them is continued throughout the story leading to some very funny lines. There is also romance like when Lex pulls his truck of the road just to dance with Indigo in the moonlight. Subsidiary characters are also strongly developed and likeable as all the characters interact with other realistically and honestly. The storyline could be time honoured predictable but just as you think things are going a certain way there is a twist. The ending was just right for the characters and left me feeling happy. I couldn’t put this book down and each time I had to, I was thinking about what would / might / could happen next. I’d highly recommend reading it.
This is the first time of me reading any of Amber Lacie’s work, but before I even had chance to even start this book, I was instantly taken in by the cover. It draws you in that much, that you can’t help but want to find out what exactly is enclosed beyond the pages of the book. You are taken on such an emotional journey and you can’t help but feel what all the characters feel, Amber Lacie has done such an amazing job with this book and I honestly hope that there is more to come from these characters. Amber has such a way with words, that you are instantly hooked from the moment you start reading page 1, until the very end. When the author can draw you in from the very first instant and can make you feel all the emotions that each of the characters are feeling, then you know for a fact that the author has done such a superb job. I found the story so easy to follow and I just couldn’t help but fall in love with both Indigo and Lex (Alexander), they are just characters that are just loveable. Don’t get me wrong I did want to strangle them both at some points through the book, but that’s only due to some of their choices. But overall, I do think that Amber did an amazing job at telling the story.
Lex had everything, he has just been picked up to play by one the of larger leagues, he was getting ready to tell his family all about his upcoming career/future, but whilst out on a drive, little did he know that his life was about to change forever. After having to deal with the aftermath for the past 9 years, he honestly never expected to meet such an out going girl, who had a mouth on her but someone who wasn’t afraid to take anyone down a notch. His life ends up being completely turned over once again and he has no idea what is even going on. All he knows is that he wants this girl, but he has no idea where any of this will be going.
Indigo has grown up in life hating love, but the reason for that is due to her family, she does all that she can so that she doesn’t end up like them. Having done well in life and succeeding with her business, she decides that she needs a change in scenery and goes aheads with selling her business and moving away from the city that she pretty much has been able to call home for so long. She wants to start a fresh and the perfect way of doing that is by going to where her best friend (Erin) lives and stopping with her until she is back on her feet. However, whilst there she ends up capturing the eye of one of the locals, which turns into a summer fling but is it all that it really seems?
Indigo Bryant is fierce, independent and a force to be reckoned with. A highly successful interior designer in New York City, Indie decides she needs a change and to escape her stress and leaves everything behind to move closer to her best friend who lives in Alabama. Her fresh start was supposed to be relaxing and way to slow down and find out what she wanted next out of life. Instead, she has a chance meeting in a bar that’s about to change her whole outlook on life.
Alexander Clarke had the world at his feet when an unexpected accident shattered it. While he appears to have moved on from the tragedy, in truth he’s plagued by guilt and nightmares that have him stuck and unable to move forward. That is, until he meets Indigo . . .for the first time in nine years, she has him feeling alive and like he wants more . . .he just doesn’t know how to reach out and take it.
Indigo isn’t the kind of girl that needs to be needed or even rescued. She can take care of herself and those around her. And, Lex isn’t the knight in shining armor type of guy . . . he’s actually the one needing rescued. Can they both move on from their destructive pasts to find their own type of fairy tale, or will their chance meeting lead to more heartache for both of them?
Indigo was my Blind Date with a Book this month, and I absolutely adored it. Indie is a true force of nature. She doesn’t let anyone tell her what to do . . .she does what she wants and loves fiercely. But, she’s a bit lost and needs to find herself. Adjusting to small town life is not quite what she expected, and she’s liking it a lot, especially when Lex enters the picture.
Lex is trapped by his past. He can’t move forward and his guilt has him unable to do what he needs to for himself in order to move on. His hometown all know what happened and kind of stand by and watch him avoid dealing, but Indie is having none of that. She’s more than willing to give him the push and support he needs . . .but is he ready to accept it?
I really and truly loved this somewhat opposite view on a conventional relationship. Lex definitely needs saving and Indie is the woman to do it. It’s a beautiful story as both characters must do a lot of soul searching to make a relationship work. Don’t let this one slip past you. 5 stars!
This is the story of a tough New York woman, Indigo Bryant, who decides to move to the small town in Alabama where her best friend lives so she can start over following a failed relationship and the lack of warmth from her own parents. Indie's initial thoughts are to spend the summer living with her best friend, along with her husband and daughter, and decide which direction to take her life once she's had some time to relax and recharge. She had decided, after watching her parents' path of destruction and watching her own relationship go down the tubes, she doesn't believe in love and thinks Cupid has no idea what he's doing in the first place. What she didn't count on was meeting Alexander Clark.
Lex has been through a difficult decade since a horrible accident stole the use of his brother's legs, and his guilt forced him to leave behind a promising baseball career. The nightmares he still experiences are cultivated by a number of circumstances he takes responsibility for as his guilt continues to keep him in the darkness of his life. His own personal purgatory keeps him from searching for happiness or ever feeling a sense of fulfillment no matter how far his other talents wish to take him. Of course, he never planned on a chance meeting with Indigo to change the course of his life. Whether their budding feelings for each other will bring them both out of their darkness or continue to drown them in their pain remains to be seen.
The moments leading up to them meeting in the bar that first night out were painful to read, and had me wishing there was something I could do to help them figure out an easier way through it. There were moments of gut wrenching sadness, humor that had me laughing out loud, and sweet and sexy that had my whole body blushing. And the background characters refused to be ignored as they continuously put their two cents worth into the situation, trying to help this broken couple to meet the conclusion they were meant to find in the end. Once I really got into the story, it was difficult to put it down.
Indigo by Amber Lacie is a story about getting past tragedy and learning to trust that things are not always the same with everyone. The one thing that I enjoy about this author is I don't really know what feelings I will get until I open the book. I enjoyed how she crushes our hearts at the beginning and then slowly rebuilds it. Her characters are true to life and connectable. They will pull you in from the first word until the last. They will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride of various emotions including laughter.
This story is about Indie and Lex's story. They are great characters and their banter back and forth will keep you laughing. The both have pasts that are not the best that have left them scarred. This story shows them fighting their way back to trusting and healing. They seem to have a connection from the first time that they meet. You will laugh at his pick up lines, I do every time I think about them. Indie is a little lost after selling her business, moving, living with a friend and just don't know what to do after that. When things don't go the way she realized, what will she do? He is just full of guilt, lost his career and numb from his past. But when he meets her, he just may find some hope. You will find yourself relating to them as they are get themselves in certain situations. The secondary characters in this story are just as great. They are supporting and complement the main characters. Will they save each other or will fate have something else in store for them? Will their be a HEA in their future?
This is my second story by this author and I can't wait to read more. This story is fast paced and will keep you reading until the last page. You will enjoy her characters as they pop off the page and into your heart. The author's creativity keeps the story flowing until the end. I highly recommend this story as I know you will want to see if Indie and Lex find their HEA.
“I don’t know if any of this is good or bad. All I know is whatever it is- I can’t stop it.” (Indigo) This is my first read by Amber Lacie and I really enjoyed it. The book flowed very nicely and I felt wound a tragic story of loss, heartache, and the denial of love, into a beautiful love story. It was one of those sit and divulge in one-night kind of reads for sure, and can be read as a standalone novel. Lex was your typical young man fresh out of college with a dream. He wasn’t looking to save lives as a doctor or be the next best attorney, but he wanted to be the next greatest pro-ball player, and he was well on his way. One mistake on the afternoon his flight was leaving for that future changes his life forever. The guilt and pain follows him and haunts his life for nine years until he meets the one thing that may change the way he sees his future again. He just has to figure out how to open himself up again and trust that he can be worthy of being loved again. Indigo is the most self-sufficient woman known to man, or so she would like to believe. She has accomplished a lot on her own by the age of thirty without the help of a single man and she doesn’t intend to change that in the coming future. Especially after her most recent boyfriend decided that her independence was a free ticket to cheat on her whenever he wanted to. Selling her business in New York and moving home for the summer to unwind and find her grounding with her best friend Erin is just what the doctor ordered. Neither Lex or Indigo expected to walk into each other’s lives, much less change each other’s in any way. Will either of them be able to overcome their past views of love to accept what could be between them? “No one falls in love the first day they meet, but I couldn’t deny the current I felt between us. Attraction? Lust? I’m not sure what it was, but I wanted to feel it again.” ~Indigo
The story Indigo by Amber Lacie is a contemporary romance book. This is the second book I have read by the author and I have found both of them to be awesome. She writes stories that have me hooked from the first chapter to the ending page. The characters that she creates are also amazing. This story is about Indigo Bryant and Alexander Clark. It is a story that touched my heart and had me believing that these two have a future together if Indigo would learn to trust in love and Alexander could let go of the past and forgive himself. Indigo is a woman who is smart, sassy, and independent. She also is just out to have fun, not to fall in love. She believes that love is “lies, pain, and emptiness”. Then she meets Alexander. Alexander is a man that lets the guilt of the past keep him from moving on in his life. He had a promising career, now there is just the pain. When these two first meet a playful banter starts and I could tell that they enjoy each other’s company. As the story continues you find that the path that Indigo and Alexander are on has obstacles. What does the future hold for Indigo and Alexander? Will Indigo learn to trust in love? Can Alexander let go of the past so that he can begin again with Indigo? This story had my emotions all over the place. There are times when Alexander and Indigo would make me laugh, others when I would want to shout at them to stop pushing each other away, and still, others that would have my eyes a bit misty. If you love romance stories with a strong female lead and a man that believes he has found the one to heal him then this is the book for you. This story does have adult situations which include some very steamy love scenes. It would be recommended for those 18 years of age or older.
I dived into Indigo by Amber Lacie, without having any experience in her writing style whatsoever. Let's just say that it was not a disappointment. If anything, I was surprised and pleased – elated to read this beautiful work of art. Because that is what I call a book that is well written.
I love being able to experience a book, where I can get lost within the pages and characters. And I appreciate that this author managed to do just that!
Nothing better can be said then recommending a book that has all of the feels that you are looking for, from tragedy, to self-forgiveness, to sexiness and just the right amount of steaminess and love. Because who am I kidding, I read these types of books because I love the feeling that I get after I've lost myself.
We get to meet Indigo, who is a strong and independent woman, and who doesn't like those type of women? She's decided that she's tired and basically fed up of the busy life that she has in New York and sells her company, and then moves to Huntsville, Alabama. Where, of course she meets Alexander Clark – who happens to be going through a very dark time in his life. He's basically lost what he feels is everything in his life, so he's struggling.
Then in comes Indie – with her spunky and strong personality, and what happens once they meet is nothing greater than a beautiful but painful journey. But the best thing is that the outcome is what is beautiful. What they get as individuals and as a couple is absolutely wonderful.
I love finding books that I can experience everything that the characters are going through. Which is a good job from the author – meaning that she has managed to write wonderful and believable characters.
Overall, this was a definite 5 Stars for me! You bet that I'll be reading more books from this author, because I've found a winner and a keeper!
I've been a fan of Amber Lacie's writing since November of 2016 and I have to say her books will forever hold a place in my heart, that's how amazingly real her characters have been developed (within all her books, really).
I was given Indigo as an ARC, for a honest review but honestly ladies if I hadn't received the ARC I would have purchased Indigo no matter what because ALL Amber Lacie's books are that good.
However Indigo is a little different because the roles are a little reversed. Usually when you're reading an HEA (or at least usually), it's the woman whose lost or confused and needs the man to show her the way or rescue her but not in this case. No Indigo is a strong, independent business woman (with a "don't have time for your b****** attitude) from New York who is tired of the busy life so she sells her company to her assistant and moves out of the city.
With no immediate plans she meets up with her childhood friend, Erin, in Alabama where she plans on staying until she lands on her feet. Indigo's short term plan is to have fun and blow off a little steam while she takes in some quality girl time.
Since, Indigo has no plans, and no love interests (which suits her well anyway's because after witnessing her parents love/hate relationship towards each other Indigo's afraid to put herself out there in fear that someone will hurt her like her parents have hurt each other).
Lex is the leading male character within Indigo and he has a past that's been haunting him for years. After an accidental car crash (caused by him) he's left with the guilt of killing his parents and crippling his older brother.
As the guilt creeps in he pushes everyone away in hopes that he'll feel less guilty but in doing that he's torturing himself and ruining any chance he has at a normal relationship (not that he's looking for one because his guilt keeps him secluded from the possibility of love) that is until Indie stumbles into his life.
Lex meets Indie in a bar and immediately she catches his attention. They begin getting to know each other by swapping cheesy pick up lines (that really are pretty entertaining, I do believe I laughed out loud a few times and my hubby was like "what's so funny?")
Needles to say these character go through a long road in order to break down their walls enough to let each other in. Indie feels like she needs to trust Lex before they can become anything because she doesn't want to enter into a relationship like her parents and Lex needs to let go of his guilt and finally move on (after all no one is blaming him for what happened other then himself and Janet).
I loved how this story turned out. Thank you for yet another amazing read Amber Lacie.
Indigo is a beautifully written story that I was not expecting at all! Wow – what an emotional roller-coaster I went on whilst reading this story – I got frustrated with the characters, I shed a few tears and a host of other emotions in between. This is the third book that I have read by this author and I really enjoy her writing style. Her books are really easy to read, they flow seamlessly and I always enjoy reading them. The action starts straight away with this story and it’s a heart breaking time for Lex. There were definitely a few twists in this story that I was not expecting. I really liked the angle the author took with this story – it was nice to read something different. I really felt for Lex – guilt is an awful thing to live with and to try and get your head around. When he was telling his story to Indie I cried right along with him. The author did an amazing job at bringing out his emotional side. I loved Indie! She was a fabulous heroine – strong, independent but also with her own issues that she had to deal with. I loved how she supported Lex and tried to help him when she could. They definitely had a push and pull relationship but I could feel the connection that they had. It went much deeper than either of them would acknowledge. There were some great secondary characters in the story, especially Lex’s brother Logan and Indie’s best friend Erin. I absolutely loved this story and I can’t wait to see what this author will come up with next! I cannot recommend it enough!
Indigo by Amber Lacie is a standalone novel about two troubled adults who are drawn together but not sure how have a healthy relationship with each other.
Indigo is a mouthy interior designer from New York. Deciding she needs a change, she has packed up her apartment, sold her company, and is staying in small town Alabama with a friend until she figures out her next move.
Lex has troubles of his own. He had a promising future as a professional baseball player, but a car accident ruined it all.
A few bad pick up lines between these two at the local bar has the chemistry between them at an all time high. But can they get their lives together enough to make things work with each other?
Amber Lacie always has a way of giving her characters outrageous personalities that just work. The things that fly out of Indigos mouth had my jaw on the floor half the time I was reading. And Lex came up with some pretty awful pick up lines. But my goodness when he decided to turn up the heat, well, all I can say is get ready to sweat ladies.
The characters in Indigo had some troubles from their pasts that had a major effect on their personal relationships, but overall the content in this book isn’t near as dark as some of Amber’s other books. In fact there is a rather great mix of humor, sadness, hot romance, and character blunders that balance each other out perfectly.
If you’re looking for a romance with just a hint of comedy and a dash of heartache, this is the book for you.
So, what do you do with two people who are scarred by their past and need healing? You bring them together of course. Two people who need to earn how to love and trust again. Lex is probably carrying more guilt than anyone person should ever have to; my heart broke for him. Lex can’t let the guilt go of the accident which he lost his parents and left his brother confined to a wheelchair. Ask yourself how would you deal this if it happened to you? That brings us to Indigo, she is just as damaged by her past. But the damaging factors in her past is the love hate relationship of her parents. Her parent’s relationship has her believing she wants no part of a relationship. She doesn’t her life anymore messed up than what it is now. Lex sees Indigo in a bar and is quite taken with her, he has the worst pickup lines ever, which are quite laughable. But obviously they couldn’t have been that bad as he caught Indigo’s attention. As both Lex and Indigo have issues from their pasts that they can’t let go, how is this going to play a part in any future they could have? Two messed up lives coming together will it work, or will they both run? If you want a book that contains possibly the world’s best, best friend, two people who are lost in the past trying to rebuild their lives, then this is the book for you. Guilt can ruin lives, but all it can take is that one special person to help you move on.
When I was younger, I read many of my grandmother's romance books. Though I liked them, I was always frustrated with the wimpy damsel-in-distress female leads. None of us are perfect and we can all use help getting along in life, but the current love stories with stronger females are better. With this book, for example, the author spends a lot of time create a female lead, Indigo, who is strong and independent but is also flawed. She doesn't NEED saving, but her life becomes a lot better when she finds someone who helps. I like that. The banter between the characters made me laugh a lot. It was easy to see the specific role each character needed to play. There wasn't any wasted fluff and/or dialog just thrown in to take up space (which seems to happen more and more). I also felt like the author trusted her readers enough to get her point and see the story the way she did without banging us over the head repeating details we already knew. If you are a reader who enjoys love stories with "human" characters who are a perfect match for each other but sometimes needs a little help finding their happy ever after, then this story is great. It makes the reader feel good about love and smile at the characters.
Indigo by Amber Lacie is a five star story and the first book I have read by this author but will not be the last. I love the character of Indigo; she is outspoken, independent and lets things just fly from her mouth without thinking.
Indigo is my favorite kind of character, she is independent, fiery and says what’s on her mind, usually before she realizes it. She has a successful business and loves her independence. But, doesn’t believe in love, because love is lies and is painful. She enjoys a good time and has no plan to fall in love.
Lex is breathing, but not living, he was supposed to have a professional baseball career but know he has a profession in guilt. He is living with the guilt of causing his family so much pain, that he can’t seem to move pass it to begin living again.
Indigo and Lex meet and sparks fly as does all the horrible pick-up lines in the world. These are two people that need each other but will they let their lack of belief in love ruin a chance at happiness?
This book has everything a reader is looking for, friendship, humor, loss, forgiveness, Lex and Indigo, are made for each other. They both will become better together, and the author does an amazing job on this story.
This is my first Amber Lacie book and what a pleasant surprise! When you put together a sassy, independent and smart heroine with a guy that has a lot of emotional baggage you get an explosive combination.
Indie gave up New York for a change of lifestyle so she took up her best friend Erin's suggestion to stay the summer with her family in Alabama. I love Indie's wit, humour, sass and independence plus she is also one smart cookie. She said she doesn't need a knight in shining armour but let's wait and see.
Lex had a bright future in baseball but when a horrible tragedy happened to his family he gave up his dreams and decided to stay home. Still plagued with guilt after all these years his quiet and low key existence gets a jump start when he meets Indie. Suddenly this brooding hero gets another stab at happiness but will he allow Indie inside his heart?
I love the characters in this book. The sassy heroine and the cheesy pick up lines plus Indie's funny banter with her best friend Erin. The storyline is solid and fast paced with added angst and also laced with humour. The perfect book to read on a lazy weekend. This won't be the last book I will read from the author. Totally enjoyed it!
Indigo is another 5 star book by Amber Lacie, I had high hopes for this one, as I have loved every book I have read from her so far and this one did not disappoint. Its such a beautifully detailed book that it took no time for me to be completely swept up into the story. This storyline starts off very intensely and that intensity continues throughout the whole book. It’s a beautiful love story that is full of drama, pain, humour, and many steamy scenes. It was a book I couldn’t put down, once I got started there was no stopping.
This book was an emotional read for me as I really connected with both Indie and Lex. They were both so special that I couldn’t help but love their story. Indie was a complex character; she was cynical yet loving, funny yet serious, guarded yet open. I loved reading her character develop from start to finish. I instantly liked Lex; he had experienced such pain and loss. I felt this strong need to know everything and anything about him, Amber painted him in such a perfect way and he was such a great book boyfriend. Indigo is definitely a book I would recommend to others as it’s a must read!
Indigo by Amber Lacie is an adult romance which really packs a punch! Wow! Be prepared for an explosive start to this novel. It sucked me in from page 1 and spat me out at the end. The preface to the novel was exciting and set the stage for the rest of it. Having split with her long term boyfriend and sold her interior decorating business, Indigo (or Indie as we come to know her) goes to stay with her best friend Erin & her husband in their small town in Alabama while she decides what to do with her life. On a night out she encounters Lex, not your average small town guy and fireworks ensue! The lead characters were really well written as were the minor characters. I liked the fact that Indie was feisty and confident despite the fact that she had mental issues that she was dealing with. I also felt for the way in which Lex tried to take responsibility for everyone. The sensitive portrayal of disability was great too; giving the character a fantastic funny personality took the attention away from his disability. This book made me laugh and cry not to mention getting me a little hot under the collar! Fab book. 5 stars!
Indigo By Amber Lacie is an Amazing story about learning to love and trust and to get past Tragedy. How to try and move on and get over guilt.I was hooked and my heart was crushed from the very beginning. This for me was a very emotional Read and I loved every page.As I read though my heart was fixed slowly. This is the story about Indie and Lex. .I love her quirky attitude and how Lex appears to be laid back when he's in fact anything but calm. The attraction was pretty much instant. The thing to ask yourself is this.Could you move on if something tragic happened? These two Noth have pasts they deal with everyday. But can they help each other? I loved the pickup lines, they both had some good ones. In their story you'll see them both fighting to gain trust and get healing. This was a sweet but not story,Indie is pretty much bad ass. Take no prisoners kinda gal.Lex lives with guilt everydsy, can These two help and heal one another.?.I'm just going to say this really is a must read.i don't want to spoil anything so instead I'm going to recommend it.I look forward to reading more from this author.
Indigo by Amber Lacie is a sweet, southern contemporary romance that hit off the right feels for me, Every once in awhile, I read a book that when the two main characters combine, it is like the universe is colliding with itself and everything is going up in sparkles, shooting stars and one gigantic bang. I love the story of Indie and Lex. Two very broken people, who find themselves mended within each other. My heart breaks for Lex. A few times I had to put my kindle down because I was actually crying. Indie is a girl after my own heart. Independent, sarcastic and full of laughter and flounce. She is recovering from a shattered heart but not sure how to put herself in a situation where it may be hurt again.
The supporting characters are amazing. I love Indie and Erin’s relationship. You can tell that it has been cultivated through years of late nights, old movies, and many secrets. I love the way they bounce off each other and how they settle and even each other out. Ms Lacie did a fantastic job with this book, This was my first of her writing to experince and I was not disappointed. I will happily give this book 5 out of 5 stars. A great book!
Indigo by Amber Lacie is a standalone and the first book I've read by this author.
“No one falls in love the first day they meet, but I couldn’t deny the current I felt between us. Attraction? Lust? I’m not sure what it was, but I wanted to feel it again.” - Indigo
What an amazing book that I couldn't put down. I read it all in one go and was up late sharing Indigo and Alexander’s emotional and steamy journey to love. I really struggled the next day at work lol. Amber Lacie is a very talented author who gives the reader everything they could possibly want or need in a book. She gives you characters who you can relate to and much needed breaks from the emotional moments with scenes that have you laughing out loud or feeling hot under the collar. This book hits you right from the start and keeps on going all the way throughout. Be prepared for the unexpected whilst reading this book!
I'm excited to see what else Amber Lacie has written as I'm addicted just from this one book and need my next fix lol. I read to escape from reality and I became so involved in Indigo and Alexander’s journey that I forgot all about my own problems. I 100% recommend that you get this book today.
Indigo was everything you expect from Amber Lacie with humor thrown in the mix. The characters are true to life, the plot has the ups and downs that keep you turning the page, and the romance and humor and angst make for a perfectly written story. Lex is still dealing with guilt from a long ago accident. He has a business with his brother but that's about the only thing going on in his life. Indie moved from NYC to Alabama for a change. She's stubborn, mouthy, and determined to stay away from love. She thinks Cupid is a drunk. After moving in with her friend Erin, her husband Derek, and their daughter Olivia, she meets Lex during a night out. The banter between Lex and Indie and the hilariously terrible pick up lines they throw at each other keeps you laughing. Lex and Indie have instant chemistry, but they're both damaged from their past and that makes their relationship difficult. Can they help heal and save each other? You must read Indigo to find out how they get their HEA. It's a must read!! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
