About the author

Gotlib (pseudonym of Marcel Gotlieb) was a French comics artist/writer and publisher. Through his own work and the magazines he co-founded, L' Écho des Savanes and Fluide Glacial, Gotlib was one of the key figures in the switch in French-language comics from their children's entertainment roots to an adult tone and readership. His trademark style fuses English-style nonsense, Jewish-American humour and French ribaldry, with a penchant for exaggeration of movements and sound effects.

I first found this album somewhere in the back of my library's comic section when I was, I don't know, about ten years old? It should be surprising just how well I remember these, from that one distant and all too brief exposure... but then again, this is some weird shit.

All the best stuff's frontloaded, with all the flashing weirdos and surrealism, but the rest of the stuff isn't bad either.

Kyllä nämä hymyilytti, varsinkin kun samaistuin Namusetään hahmona: Sekin näkee kauheesti vaivaa saadakseen toisen ihmisen hämmentymään ja räkättää tuolle hämmentymiselle.
