Postman is a collection of eight stories with the following titles:
1.  Alice in Wonderland: Alice in Wonderland is about an Indian author who meets a Brazilian girl at the Sandycove in Ireland and hits off well because of their common interest in literature until the plot takes a turn.
2. Bhukkaraminte Makan: Bhukkaraminte Makan is about a generation of thieves from the Mittal family in Killar and how they struggle to break out of people's perception of their generational occupation making it difficult to find a proper job despite having educational qualifications.
3. Ghulam Hussain: Ghulam Hussain is originally from Iran and he loves animals in a way that he says they speak to him. He was shunned by his country for petting a dog and was asked to return to Iran to be punished but he goes to Kenya instead and becomes an animal caretaker at the National Park there. A sheikh sees him there and invites him to run to a zoo in Dubai where a mishap occurs and the animals run wild, He manages to find all but one and bring them back to the zoo and he goes insane looking for the missing tiger cub.
4. Márquez: Gregory George Mathews from Kerala wakes up one day as though he was transformed into the author Gabriel García Márquez and tries to recreate popular events from Márquezs' life. It is a funny read.
5. Nileshwaram Baby: It is the story of Baby Sir who desperately wants to bring a famous literary figure to their workplace's annual event.
6. Postuman: This was one of my favourites out of this collection. It starts with the death of a retired postman Sadashivan Pilla who was well-respected by the people of his village during his working days. A day before the funeral his son finds out a potential secret his father might have been hiding.
7. Solapur: Hanumantha & Sobhi, a couple from a village near Solapur are struggling to make ends meet because of ongoing droughts in the region that have made land unfit for cultivation. That's when their cousin Gopal tells Hanumantha that they could sell pictures and videos of their intimate moments for a good amount. They set off on a bus to Solapur to sell their video and get scammed.
8. Pusthakashala: This story is about a bookstore owner named Panicker who has a preconceived notion of what kind of books people should read. He thinks they should read and appreciate classics and drives away people who want other books or gives away books for free for them to read. Even though his intentions might be pure it's very annoying and bad for business. Even though it's his shop his son is forced to drive him out.

Overall, an average short story collection - most stories are ok/ average. A couple stood out and were good, none were great.
Thoughts on individual short stories below (there is another review that has a good synopsis of every story, so I recommend that you read this review in tandem with that one for a complete picture):
1. Alice in Wonderland: 2/5. Average premise and setting, and I could see the ending coming from a mile away.
2. Bhukkaraminte Makan: 2.5/5. A better story than #1, has good potential to be developed further and has heart; but as it stands, it is unmemorable.
3. Ghulam Hussain: 4/5. I enjoyed this gem. Fun is often not that, it is actually callousness - this aspect made the story stand out for me. Perhaps the author could have doubled down on this angle.
4. Márquez: 3.5/5. Started off well, I quite enjoyed the premise of this quirky tale. But the author didn't know how to wrap it up - the ending read as if the author just tried something to finish the tale.
5. Nileshwaram Baby: 4/5. Nice story. The ending was expected but the journey to get there was satisfying.
6. Postman: The titular story, I am giving it 4/5 because it was great for about 80% and a let down at the end. Honestly I was annoyed at the author for the way he wrapped up this great story -- he needed to tell us more about the angle involving his school teacher, or he should have practised some restraint and dropped the part with the 14 letters entirely.
7. Solapur: The only story not involving a Malayali as a participant or narrator. 3.5/5 - perhaps because this is the first story I have read about new ways in which farmers are scammed, it will stick with me.
8. Pusthakashala: 4/5. This was a really enjoyable story. Like #5 which I liked, it is actually a commentary on the place of literature in a society.

All the stories were so good to read. I loved the main story named Postman which was about the catalytic life the postman of a village leads and the reasons for his actions.
