Vanity wanted a happy life after losing her parents. She struggled daily to stay close to God the way her mother wanted. As hard as she tried to devote her life to God, she wasn’t happy with her life. After seeing Echon, she couldn’t get him out of her head. He caused her to go against everything she was taught.
Echon has lived in the darkness for as long as he could remember. All he was ever trained to do was kill. Not knowing his true identity caused a void in him that he couldn’t fill until he meets Vanity. She was the sun that bust through the dark clouds that loomed over him. All he wanted was a chance at happiness with her, but he can’t escape who he was.
Will they both find the love and happiness they deserve? What happens when the good in her meets the bad in him?

Maaannnnnn😩😩 that ending had me in tears. I was hoping and praying he would...nvm, you just have to read it to know what I was going to say 🤣 I’m glad that Vanity met Echon they balanced each other out. I’m still at a loss for words as I write this review 😩 I’m glad that Vanity at least got her happy ending.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This 2nd book in the series was a nicely written love story. This book showed how good can overtake & change anyone. Echon & Vanity's coincidental meeting resulted in the unknown as their different worlds collided. Compassionate, enjoyable read.
Vanity was shy, dating the son of a senator and in college living her life. Zelda was her crazy and promiscuous roommate who tried to get Van out more than once. Echos was a cold hearted black soul that hung out at his boy Qurans club when he wasn’t making a hit. One night Vanity stumbles into an unknown club trying to hang out and curiosity gets the best of her as she cannot get Echon out of her mind. Religion, love and murder all come together to build this love story. This is the definition of fairytales don’t last and real decisions have to be made when Echon leaves for a business trip. Van finishes medical school and Zelda finishes Law school and life is not the same. Loved this story...but the Author hurt me! 😃
This story was so good and that ending was so great. It actually made me shed a tear because of who Echon turned out to be. I thought Vanity was crazy for wanting Echon in the beginning. He was cold and kind of scary but she was able to melt his heart and vice versa. The twist turns of this book kept me on the edge of my seat. This is why Mrs. Day is one of my favorite authors. Her books are so unpredictable and cause so many different emotions to stir that you never want the story to end. It was good to read about Tree connecting with Vanity and her son because of the bond that he shared with Echon. I truly enjoyed this book and would recommend it.
I really enjoyed this book but it has me so in my feelings. I liked Echon with Vanity and I thought that they were going to get their happily ever after together but he had to leave her so she could have a life. I think Quran is foul trying to start a relationship with Vanity because of how close he and Echon was. I'm glad that Tree reached out to Vanity so she could have closure and truly start to live her best life.
This was so good . First time reading from this author and definitely will continue.
Vanity ended up at the wrong bar waiting for her friend and she came across this mysterious guy echon . I’m so glad they took a chance with each other vanity brought the little goodness out of echon and he needed that . What echon did was to protect vanity life and .... the ending had me in tears why Nona day lol 💔❤️
Cover is so simple, yet beautiful. It went great with the story. I love this letter series and it keeps you reading to see how not everyone gets the happily ever after, yet there's beauty behind the pain. Vanity and Echon were great examples of when two should collide. I'm happy that she stayed true to herself, despite the many obstacles. Great read, on to part 2
This was a great read💯💯. My emotions are all over the place😂😢😡😊🤦♀️😲😳. Echon & Vanity’s story was bittersweet and so deep. I just wish he had known about his son before he made the decision not to come back to her. This was my first time reading this author’s work and I’m impressed!!
I absolutely loved this story... people don't understand the power they have in others lives. Vanity was placed at that bar because Echon needed her as well as she needed him. God works in mysterious ways!!! I loved that she was left with a piece of him in EJ. Nona Day this was a awesome story, glad you let us in on it!!!
What a heart felt storyplot! Darkness can be filled with light if you receive it! I can't believe Echon was Guap but I loved the back story of him and Vanity! Now she can live in happiness with a rememberance of Echon in EJ!
This book was so good but so sad. I though Echon was still alive. I wished he go to meet his son. At least he found God. I hope Vanity finds love again. She deserves love and happiness.
This book was everything and it was my first time reading from this author! I loved the connection between Vanity and Echon; i just wished the ending was different but it was still an overall great read!
When reading this book it takes you on a rollercoaster ride. It makes you think of all the people you have loved an if it was real love and would you kill for you own happiness?
This was a great book. Really enjoyed it. Really liked Echon. Vanity was so good for him. I did not like Quran at the end. He was cool before. Gotta read the next book now.
This storyline took me through all the emotions.... definitely a page turner... my first time reading a book from this author and I must say it was great. A must read!
I loved this and how she broke him down I like a gangsta dude that will kill and he was that and he was smooth. But no the ending is not what I wanted I shedded a year..
This story made me sad Echon was a list soul who found love in a lost woman Vanity. There chance encounter turned into a beautiful love story that ended in sadness with a little blessing sprinkled into the there love story.
Worth the 5 stars, even though it did not end like I thought it would...Echon truly brought something to Vanity that she was originally missing...great read
Fully enjoyed this book didn’t ext to have a reading with some of my favs at the ending. Which made my reading even more enjoyable. This book deserves 10 🌟🌟🌟
