"Love love love FASTING just to please Allah." / "If you treaure Ramadhan, your home will be Jannah."
This is a simple rhyming board book for preschoolers on the five pillars of Islam. I was really excited to see a book on this topic for young kids because I haven't had much chance to talk to my daughter about things like Zakah and Hajj yet. Howevet it wasn't really what I was hoping for.
Each 2 page spread portrays one pillar and the last page has 5 flaps with pictures as hints to help the reader list the 5 pillars. The pillar is described as a call to action and then says 'just to please Allah' and ends saying 'your home will be Jannah.' This is the same wording as it's matching book Good Deeds : Just To Please Allah.
I really like the graphics on the front cover and the fact that it's interactive with flaps at the end is really cute. A nice way to see how much your child understood and remembered. The illustrations are okay. There is diversity in them which is nice.
I find the wording to this book really awkward and even incorrect and it really bothers me. For example, 'Say shahadah' (I'd prefer 'Say the Shahadah') and 'do Salah' (would sound better as 'Do your Salah' or 'make Salah' maybe?). I'm also not sure I like the statement, "If you believe in one God, your home will be Jannah," because that is really just not true. Iblis believes in one God, plenty of people on distorted theologies believe in one God. I understand it's for children and needed to be simple but it doesn't sit right with me to simplify something to the point where it's that far from the truth. The content on the other pages are okay. I only just found out it's supposed to be sung to the tune of Row Row Row Your Boat. This definitely makes it sound better.

Lovely board book for toddlers to understand the 5 pillars of Islam in a very simple but comprehensive and fun/catchy way. Would have been very useful to buy when the kids were younger!
