LOVED IT! I was worried this book wouldn’t have anywhere to go but it did and it was great. I did get a little annoyed with Barrett because she was acting petty but in the end she came through. Way less space in this one but understandably so. Overall I enjoyed it. Spice: 🌶 Steam: 🔥 Sweetness: 💗💗
I still am having trouble liking Flynn and Barrett. The just don’t have the pull and they don’t trust each other. I think she has more chemistry with Sasha and she just has sex with Flynn. Oh well. Will read the next.
I enjoyed this book as well as the first one. In this book we see Barrett adapt to the Scottish and SINS life. At times I felt like she forgot she wasn’t Scottish nor was she born into any affiliation with SINS. At times it honestly was annoying..especially when she called Archer towards the end of the book..because just because your married to Flynn does not give you the right to make such bold and dangerous decisions?!
Also Barrett’s relationship with Sasha is frustrating. And it made me question if Sasha would ever turn on Flynn because he desired Flynn’s wife. I thought Sasha was a risk because of his love for Barrett.
Ash gets on my nerves. I still feel as if she weak and hardly able to adapt to Duncan’s life. And the times she snapped at Barrett had me hoping Barrett would really put her in her place, afterall..Barrett was involved with SINS and the mob life in an entirely different level than Ash would ever be.
The book jumped right into Duncan and Ash being together. Communication between Barrett and Flynn could have been better. Barrett was a bitch to Ash quite a few times but also, Ash was dramatic other times. Barrett brought a lot to the table and showed that she could run with the guys and did what needed to be done, without needing help. The part where Flynn and the boys are out taking care of business and it was randomly in third person POV was confusing when there was only ever Barrett’s view the whole rest of the book. DNF rest of series because I was tired of this couple and felt like it was enough drama and storyline for one couple. Fade to black and one POV was upsetting as well.

OK. A lot of trust issues for Barratt in this one. Maybe a lot of that stems from guilt tho....?
In this one we see a sprinkling of Scottish history and an addition of some string female characters. Doesn't harm the storyline at all.
What is concerning is that akltho Barratt confesses deep love for flynn, she dreams of sascha, confides in him almost daily and even shared a kiss. And SHE has trust issues with FLYNN?? Hmmm. This situation needs to explode before it's resolved. All bystanders will get hurt and its not clear who will come out smiling....
In this second installment we get to see Barrett really take to Scottish life. She studied the history and loved all that was Scotland before she met Flynn, so now that she’s married, with a baby and living there, everything that she could want has come to her.
Until someone takes it all away.
We remember from the first book that Flynn was part of the SINS, an organization that’s trying to free Scotland, and the FBI among other agencies want to disband them. That put a target on their back before, but this time it’s worse.
We’re in Scotland, on the eve of Ash and Duncan’s wedding (YES they got together) and the unimaginable happens. someone gets into the party and kills Malcolm (the leader of the SINS and Duncan’s father (Flynn’s adoptive father)) and gravely wounds Duncan. Wedding is off, and the balance of the story is hunting down who’s behind it.
If that weren’t enough, while Flynn and Barrett are on a fact finding mission in London, someone betrays them and kidnaps their son Hawk in the middle of it all. That’s below the belt and we watch what that transforms Barrett into. She was a woman who knew nothing of this world before, but she’s murdered plenty already in the first book so it’s anyone’s guess what she’ll do now to get her son back.
This is a mystery of sorts, trying to determine who’s behind all the betrayals, whos trying to overthrow the power of the SINS and then figure out the motives. We learn that there are several government agencies involved around the world and that makes things even messier.
Barrett is Kidnapped
Flynn is ambushed and gravely wounded
there’s a new set of babies on the way
a new future for the SINS
Just a huge question around what the future of the SINS looks like and who will be at the helm.
This is definitely a series you need to read in order. The characters and storyline are a continuation. I still love the characters and the majority of the storyline. Flynn, Duncan and Sasha are all still accent speaking hotties! Barrett and Ash are joined with some new and again strong females. This book has hints of a historical Scottish romance. Historical facts mentioned that adds to the storyline. James Bond and Jason Bourne type feeling reading this book Why 3 stars for this book? Because I did NOT like that even though Barrett is madly deeply in love with Flynn, she has erotic dreams about other men and even kisses Sasha! She also confides and "talks" to Sasha instead of Flynn. If the roles were reversed do you think she wouldn't lose her mind!?! Because let me tell you Barrett is a strong, blunt female who would not be very understanding, as she shouldn't be! She's married, she clearly loves her husband but she doesn't trust him with all her demons! Bu!!$hite! My love for Barrett definitely dropped in this book! Let's hope the next chapter( book) in this series brings my love for these characters back to a 4/5 star rating.
I found the Heroine got so hard to like here. The other man drama where she is allowed to do what she wants to see him with no issues from her husband seems so unlikely considering. And she does seem to have more of a relationship with the OM than her husband for a while. Then the whole dealing with child kidnapping and draw but still going to get cleared at 3 weeks so she can be intimate with her husband early? And constantly referring to how she has "let herself go" weeks after the baby is born simply for wearing yoga pants sometimes instead of plastering makeup and dress clothes to visit friends at home.... She was hard to relate to and came across cold and unlikeable even in how she treated her husband. The last review mentioned how it was unbelievable the way every man fell desperately in love with the h, and this feels the same. Alone with some manipulation on her part to abuse the fact even with those she cares about. The story is good enough that and I'll read the third and see how it goes from here.
Love the whole series. I read this awhile ago and never posted my review. And just recently reread the series for who knows what time(yes I know that’s crazy) but it’s a great series. On the edge of you’re seat throughout the series and each of the books on their own. I originally read the first 4 individually then reread them as the 1-4 set. These books suck you in until the last page. This book continues on where the last left off. Barret and Flynn are quite the power couple and now have a baby!! They navigate through this new chapter while people plot to bring them down. It is quite nice to see a dominant alpha male who will do anything for his family still recognize his woman’s strength. Flynn knows the power house that is his wife and knows nothing can hold her back. This book and the whole series is full of twists, turns, edge of your seat moments, SINS, secrets and steam!! Must read!!
A great series, and I love the characters. The only thing I couldn't get, was the freedom from the UK. There has only ever been 1 group with any kind of resemblance to the IRA, and that is the Scottish Liberation Army, who were a little bit vocal for a short time, but then disappeared. Scotland was given a referendum and voted to stay, so there's really no where near the amount of support to leave, as it shows in this series. Apart from that, I love it, it just makes me giggle. PS, 99.9% of Brits have electric kettles, not stove top whistling ones 😁
4.5 Stars! Great storyline. Love the characters. The writing is good as well, minus the skipping over certain parts of the book that could be written out in detail. That’s a bit frustrating. But with the storyline being so good, I really enjoyed the book. I did not care for how the 3 brothers had a side conversation about Barrett going to Archer. Like, what was the plan if she did something like that again? I was offended for her. I am looking forward to their next book though.
I so enjoyed this SINS story. This one has an HEA with no cliffhanger but a continuation of freeing Scotland theme throughout the series. I enjoyed the characters and it has the right amount of angst, drama, and bonding. It was so engaging that I got lost in the story and read it straight through. Highly recommend this book. The men are dominant, strong but loving leaders and the women are strong, feisty, and loving. It makes for a good mating and a story to enjoy. HEA, no cheating, no cliffhanger. Enjoy!
yeah, no, i'm not continuing the series. this is the couple that wouldn't stay together till the end. because like she has dreams of having an O with men she killed and she also has more chemistry with Sasha than with Flynn. with Flynn is more physical than anything, even tho it's definitely not the same for him. dreams with Igor are so unnecessary. and it’s the first book where i genuinely hate fmc
I liked this book better than the first book in the series, but this one had more action and drama. First this series features Scotland and a fight for Scotland's independence. So anything Scotland related piques my interest. There are twists, corruption, suspense, steamy romance, and strong female leads.
The drama!! The mystery!!! The love!! EMMA Slate did a wonderful job I making me feel the Scottish wind, and hear the Scottish brogue and laugh when the lads wore the kilts! Yet the mystery was what I craved!!!! I cannot go into toooo much detail but let’s just say keep your babes close!
Loving this series! This book has everything I look for in a great read, Intrigue, romance, and interesting characters with depth! I have high hopes for book 3!
I am so loving this series. Barrett is just amazing. I'm loving the twists, intrigue, characters and the storyline. And we've got hot alpha men in kilts woohoo. I highly recommend this series. Thanks Jamie Nibarger Ellis
Really good series. Barrett kept this from being 5 stars for me. I didn't like the Igor story line. It felt like she was cheating on Flynn in her heart. I love Flynn and how much he loves Barrett. Lot of action going on to keep a reader invested.
3.5 stars I’m still completely on the fence about this series. It sucks you in ti the suspense, but there’s a disconnect somewhere that I can’t put my finger on but at the same time I still want more.
The love story continues and Flynn and Hawk make her family strong. Add in the chosen family along with their businesses and obligations and it gets better and better.
Brilliantly written. Fanfreakingtasic read worthy of 10 stars. Simply beautiful characters with so many levels of depth. Gut wrenching drama, hella twisty, angsty, hopeful and oh so tingle worthy. I'm loving this series.
Lovec it but a bit difficult to review because I read it in th3 complete box set, so my review would have spoilers about the other books, will just say it’s a great read 😁
