But naw.
I married a girl because my parents liked her family’s name. A girl who didn’t love me but instead loved my trust fund.
Now that I think about it, smart people really can be obtuse to the point of idiocy. Which is why falling for my new assistant is not only my biggest f&%# up, but it’s also a mistake that could put both of my business partners and our company’s future at risk.
It’s stupid, I know. But then she goes and makes the first move, and fierce competitor that I am, I can’t help but rise to the challenge.

Not a manwhore but experienced hero
Quite experienced heroine who isn’t a shy wallflower
Except for mentions of ex wife not many references to either of their histories.
Don’t think I’d read the previous books though, they feel hugely unappealing.

La serie “Checkmate Inc” di Shelly Alexander arriva alla 4^ puntata, quella con protagonista Oscar “Oz” Strong, il terzo amico del trio di ricchi uomini di affari che hanno fondato appunto l’azienda Checkmate Inc che produce generi vari di prodotti di lusso maschili, dall’abbigliamento agli accessori ai profumi. Gli altri due soci, Leo Foxx e Dex Moore li abbiamo incontrati nel primo e nel secondo libro della serie. I tre amici fraterni si sono conosciuti al college grazie alla loro grande passione per il gioco degli scacchi. La loro brillante intelligenza e gli studi li hanno fatti unire ancora di più e, una volta terminati gli studi, hanno fondato una piccola azienda che, grazie al loro intuito e alle loro capacità, è diventata multimilionaria al punto che decidono di quotarla in borsa.
Dal punto di vista professionale Oz è il socio in camice bianco che spesso è in laboratorio a fare ricerca e a sperimentare le formule corrette per ottenere i prodotti di successo dell’azienda e caratterialmente è il più scorbutico e introverso tanto da non tollerare i dipendenti con i quali collabora. Il libro si apre infatti nel momento in cui caccia malamente l’ultimo assistente assunto in mattinata. Grazie all’intervento dei suoi due amici viene assunta Kendall Tate, una ventiseienne organizzatrice di eventi amica della fidanzata di Dex.
Nel momento in cui Oscar e Kendall si incontrano è subito attrazione pura. Non possono in alcun modo pensare di soddisfare questo desiderio in quanto non sono ammesse relazioni sentimentali tra colleghi di lavoro. Non sembrano esserci soluzioni, oltre a tutto lui è uno dei “capi” e lei non può permettersi di perdere il lavoro, pertanto, pur riconoscendo di essere irrimediabilmente attratti, decidono di comune accordo, di mantenere le distanze.
La sua opinione di me è in qualche modo importante, anche se non possiamo fare sesso rumoroso, sudato e contro il muro”
“Kendall è off limits. Ho lasciato che emozioni che pensavo fossero sparite per sempre crescessero dentro di me, portando a una situazione incasinata per tutte le persone coinvolte”
Dal punto di vista personale Oscar è molto insicuro: si protegge dai sentimenti tenacemente dopo la cocente delusione del fallimento del suo matrimonio con una ragazza interessata solo ai suoi soldi e che non ha nemmeno cercato di instaurare una relazione con lui, tradendolo a ripetizione.
L’incontro con Kendall e l’attrazione potente per lei all’inizio lo destabilizza, ma poi intuisce che è proprio quello che stava cercando per ricomporre i pezzi del suo cuore e ritrovare la fiducia nell’amore.
“I miei amici capiscono che quando un uomo incontrerà una donna speciale – quella che mette a posto il suo mondo distrutto – è spacciato. In questo caso, sono io quello spacciato”
Sotto scacco è scritto interamente dal punto di vista maschile. Il pensiero mascolino semplice, spontaneo, un po’ volgare quando parla di sesso, ha incontrato la mia approvazione. Non ho mai tollerato più di tanto i giri paranoici della mente femminile, forse perché preferisco le cose dette con crudezza ma comprensibili immediatamente, piuttosto che le circumnavigazioni intorno a un concetto che ti lasciano perplessa e con la mente piena di domande…

I read 75 pages of SINFUL GAMES by Shelly Alexander. This is in the erotic romance category and is available on KU. This is a book about a boss who falls in love with his assistant.
The hero is Oz Strong, and he and 3 friends jointly own a big company that's about to go public. Oz fires all his assistants bc he is difficult, but his new one Kendall Tate is super competent, so it's kind of a bummer for him that he's in lust w/her. I guess. This is the kind of book that makes me wonder, just as strongly as I did with the Beckstrand book, exactly what it is we are doing here. Oz is a misogynist d-bag. He's arrogant and unlikable. The "excuse" for this behavior is that his first wife cheated on him, but the prologue makes it clear that he only married to please his parents and didn't care about her. I think he's just been a jerk all along!
This book is hero only 1st person present POV, which does him no favors. He is very aware of the #MeToo movement, even name checking it several times, but that doesn't stop his narration from being almost 100% about how badly he wants to bang Pink (that's his nickname for her.) In one scene, Oz thinks about the #MeToo movement. Obviously, there are plenty of poorly-behaving men in our workplaces. I don't know. I found this exhausting. Is that fact that he's TRYING not to get with her during work really enough? His *idea* for fixing the problem is to find her a another job so that they can have an affair. So patriarchal. All he does when he's at work is think about her body. It didn't feel sexy. It felt horrifying.
And authorial choices amplified my discomfort: we never get her POV. She's clearly into it BUT ONLY BECAUSE OF HIS DESCRIPTION OF HER BEHAVIOR. Because it's present tense, but he only describes his lustful thoughts, it seems like he is fixated on her. He never things about work!The first time they fool around, it's in a closet at work. I was done.
Verdict: DNF.

& intriguing story.
Oz grew up extremely wealthy,
but there was more to him than the money. Oz, finally got out from under his father's thumb, & an arranged marriage that should of never happened.
Oz, along with two friends from chess team, created Chessmates Inc.
He, Leo & Dex made it into a multi
million dollar business.
Oz has a problem keeping assistants.
He can be a bit of a jerk at times.
That is, till he meets his new assistant, Kendall (aka Pink).
Oz & Pink, make the pages sizzle.
Falling for Pink is not smart.
Especially expanding Chessmates Inc.
to other countries,
& plans to take the company public.

Alexander comes from all angles. Sinful Games goes for the spice with some sugar thrown in. Oz has the smarts to make his dreams come true, but his heart has been lost a bit in the shuffle. He wants to be happy, but doesn't quite know how to make that happen. When Kendall (Pink) enters his life is when the sizzle begins. She's fire to his ice. She pushes his buttons while stealing his heart. With saucy dialogue, compelling characters and tempting humor Sinful Games is a seduction, I'll gladly revisit again and again.

4.5 stars. An engaging story of a quirky, successful geek that fall in major lust (and love) with his assistant. We have workplace issues, family issues and lots of very sexy bits. One unusual aspect of the book is that it is written in first person completely from the male point of view.
There is lust-at-first-sight when Oz Strong meets his new assistant, Kendall Tate. Complications arise and Oz finds out that he is much better guy that he thinks he is.
I love how Oz made the transition from reclusive grouch to being Kendall's knight in shining armor. It proves again that the right woman can work miracles on any guy.

This is the fourth book of the series Checkmate Inc. I haven’t read the previous books but there were enough details from other characters that I can honestly say you can read this as a standalone. This is a contemporary love story featuring a super smart geek who made his millions at an early age and made some mistakes.
Oz is one of three geeky friends who created Checkmate Inc. He comes from a rich family but some bad decisions instigated by his parents made him step away from them. Fast forward a few years later, he along with his friends catapulted their company into a multi-million dollar business. Oz is still scarred from a disastrous first marriage and has steered clear of any relationships. His world is about to be rocked when he meets his new assistant, Kendall.
Kendall aka Pink is in need of a good paying job to support her sister and niece. When she meets Oz for the first time, sparks fly but she is caught in a dilemma. He is her new boss and they shouldn’t be messing around in the office or in the lab but how can they resist this combustible chemistry they feel for each other? And there are some family members that will definitely not approve of this liaison.
Written in Oz’s point of view, the author gave a very entertaining narrative: a light-hearted storyline with more than a few panty-melting scenes and a lot of dirty, witty banter between the characters. Oz’s friends and their partners are heavily involved in this book and you get to see the amazing dynamics of these people. And then there’s Pink, I love that the author created a feisty female heroine who can give as good as she gets. There were some dramatic scenes in the story but it wasn’t drawn out to provide angst and I was happy enough to read this as it was meant to be, a sexy love story sans drama. When you have a dirty talking, smart and sexy hero paired with a sassy and feisty heroine, you have the right ingredients for a perfect book on a lazy weekend. I better check out the earlier books in this series because getting a glimpse of Leo and Ethan in here made me want to read their stories too.

Sinful Games is the fourth book in the Checkmate, Inc. series by Shelly Alexander. It can be read as standalone but I do recommend reading the previous books, at some point. I still haven’t read the first book since I discovered Shelly when Rookie Moves was releasing. I will make this short since the synopsis explains a lot.
Oz needs an assistant. As always. He fires them even before they are hired. He doesn’t trust easily. Then he sees Kendall Tate aka Pink in his mind. She was a vision from the moment he saw her and that was way she shouldn’t be his assistant. Checkmate, Inc. is going public, they need to stay clean and fantasying about bending over your assistant is most definitely not. Before he can say the word, she is hired and he is fucked.
Kendall needs this job. It pays well and she is helping out her sister and niece. She feels the chemistry between herself and Oz. She knows she shouldn’t want him. He is off limits. But the pull is too strong. Her confidence soars when she is around the sexy geek who wears jeans like nobody else. She shows her hand and he goes for it. She knows they are playing a sinful game. He knows it too.
I thought their story was fun, sexy, and a challenge. There are also twists in the game. I liked Oz in the previous books so I was excited when I saw that this was going to be his story. I fell for the geekster. I met Kendall for a bit in Get Wilde and I liked her from the start. I just knew she was going to bring Oz to his knees.
Overall...it’s a wonderful addition to the series. It’s a fast-paced read full of heat, heart, and fun. I hope this isn’t the last of the series. I want more!

It's not all that common to get a story that's only the hero's POV, but that's what is going on in Sinful Games, and it's definitely entertaining to say the least. The brilliant Shelly Alexander had me forgetting that she's a female author, as Oz's inner monologue 100% screamed insane male. See, not only is he all man, but he's a genius, hot nerdy man to boot. He's spent his adult life building his company with two of his best friends, and they're very successful, however, his love life hasn't fared as well. See, he listened to his well to do parents, and married a woman off of their list, and it bit him in the behind, so now, he trusts no woman. It's made him a bit cranky, and his poor assistants take the brunt of his crankiness, until Kendall, aka Pink, is hired. Now it's a whole new ballgame of temptation. They have a chemistry that won't be denied, and when it explodes, that's all she wrote. The sexy times light the sky up with sparks, and everyone can tell what's going on. Of course there's twists coming out of the wood work on top of sexy chaos, as Oz & company try to take their baby public, so how is anyone going to survive all of this while Oz & Pink try to figure out what they have going on? You will just have to read it for yourselves! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I've loved the contrary Oz since he made his appearance in the first Checkmate, Inc book, so it's no surprise that I was excited to get my hands on his story. Shelly Alexander doesn't disappoint. The story is fast-paced, and it is an instant attraction for Oz, but he and Kendall are absolutely perfect for each other. She's smart and determined, and is just a great compliment to Oz's smart, sarcastic, and sexy self. The story is full of the wit and banter we've come to expect from this author, and of course, Oz and Pink generate plenty of steam. In addition to a lusty romance, we also get to catch up with the Checkmate family in a story that certainly shows the love and trust between them. Sinful Games is a terrific addition to the series, and I can't wait to see what's next.

Another fantastic read from Shelly Alexander! I adore the Checkmate series, and Sinful Games did not disappoint.
Oz can be a hard man to work for. He’s a straight shooter, and people find him to be brash. But once again, he’s in need of an assistant, and what he ends up with becomes somewhat of an obsession.
Kendall, also known as Pink, isn’t afraid of him or his demeanour. In fact, she gives as well as she gets. She’s the perfect match for his hard hitting attitude.
I love these two together. From their sexy romps in the lab to their witty banter, they’re like the perfectly suited couple.
Another one to add to the favourites!

I am jumping into this Checkmate, Inc Series late and wondering how the hell I had missed it until now! I now want to go back and read the other books in this series.
This is a fast paced story filled with witty banter and instant attraction.
Oz is quite a hard man to work for. He's smart, sarcastic and sexy as sin. When he ends up needing an assistant he ends up with Kendall. She perfect for him, shes smart and determined and challenges him. She's the perfect match for him.

Concludiamo la lettura di questa serie con la storia di Oscar, detto Oz, il burbero chimico nerd socio della Checkemate inc., la società che aiuta gli uomini a conquistare le donne.Di lui avevamo intravisto solo la scontrosità, il riserbo eccessivo ma anche l’amicizia vera e fraterna che lo lega a Leo e Dex; scopriamo subito dalle prime pagine che ha alle spalle addirittura un divorzio.Ma ancora di più che quel matrimonio era letteralmente un matrimonio di interesse, a cui i suoi genitori, tipici WASP (la ricca borghesia “bianca” della East Coast), lo avevano obbligato: dopo i tradimenti ripetuto della sua ex moglie, ha chiuso del tutto se stesso, dedicandosi alla ricerca nella sua azienda.L’arrivo di Kendall, assunta come sua nuova assistente, lo destabilizza perché suscita da subito il suo interesse.
«…questo è il problema. Quando lei è nei paraggi, desidero essere una persona migliore. E questo mi spaventa a morte. Forse mostrarle di più il mio lato intrattabile è la chiave. E’ l’unica che riesce a gestire il suo caratteraccio, che lo aiuta nelle riunioni quando perde il filo, che non rinnegherà la forte attrazione che c’è tra loro e che non esiterà a licenziarsi quando lui le dichiarerà inaspettatamente il suo amore.Anche se mosso dall’attrazione, Oz non rinuncerà ad avvicinarsi a lei per conoscerla per sapere della sua vita e dei suoi problemi, e questo lo rende sicuramente un protagonista maschile interessante.Con Kendall capirà di avere la sua seconda possibilità, di volere davvero una famiglia, senza che il suo status economico abbia alcun peso, perché in fondo l’amore, come ci dice in un passaggio, è “qualcosa che i soldi e i privilegi non possono comprare.”Questa sua determinazione resterà costante nella storia, sia quando si dichiarerà a lei sia quando affronterà finalmente la sua famiglia: per uno strano gioco del destino infatti il fratello di Oz ha un legame con la sorella di Kendall, e il suo comportamento non farà che rafforzare l’idea di Oz di proteggerli perché sono importanti per Kendall.La loro è una connessione intima molto forte, per cui troviamo scene parecchio “hot”, ma che non risultano volgari e che si compensano con i momenti in cui Oz prende coscienza davvero di se stesso e dei suoi sentimenti.Come di prassi per queste serie, abbiamo il solo POV del protagonista maschile, in prima persona, ma qui la storia è davvero tutta su di lui e di conseguenza risulta più assorbibile nella lettura; tutti i protagonisti della serie sono inoltre sviluppati e spiegati in modo che questo volume si possa anche leggere da solo.

Dopo aver letto di Leo e Dex, Shelly Alexander torna con il 4° libro della serie dedicata al terzo socio della “Checkmate Inc.” Oscar detto OZ.
Anche il bellissimo Oz, dopo aver passato l’adolescenza tra studi e partite a scacchi, è riuscito a diventare milionario grazie alla fondazione della Checkmate Inc.
A differenza dei suoi soci, però, Oz proviene da una famiglia molto ricca dove contano solo apparenza e ricchezza; l’insistenza dei suoi genitori ha condizionato però le scelte fatte da Oz in passato costringendolo ad allontanarsi da loro.
Oz è ancora segnato da un disastroso primo matrimonio e si è tenuto alla larga da qualsiasi relazione. Il suo mondo però, sta per essere sconvolto dall’incontro con la nuova assistente Kendall.
Kendall ha bisogno di un buon lavoro per aiutare sua sorella e sua nipote. Quando incontra Oz per la prima volta, la passione e l’attrazione che prova per il suo nuovo capo sono travolgenti.
I due si ritrovano a lavorare costantemente insieme e cercano in tutti i modi di ignorare la loro forte attrazione.
Oz sa che ogni tipo di relazione potrebbe mettere a rischio il futuro dell’azienda. Per Kendall invece questo lavoro è troppo importante e non può assolutamente rischiare di perderlo. Cosa faranno i nostri protagonisti? Ascolteranno la ragione o decideranno di far esplodere la passione?
L’autrice con questo libro ci regala una storia veramente molto bollente, passionale e travolgente! Grazie al pov maschile di Oz entreremo nella sua vita e nella sua testa e vi innamorerete perdutamente di lui.
Ho amato tantissimo anche Kendall che nonostante i suoi problemi, non si è mai arresa ed ha lottato con tutte le sue forze in ciò in cui crede. È una donna forte, esuberante e piena di sorprese!
“Sotto scacco” è un racconto molto divertente con una trama spensierata, con dialoghi pieni di doppi sensi, ironici e divertenti che renderanno la lettura interessante e mai noiosa. Oz e Kendall hanno una chimica, una passione e una sensualità che vi travolgerà.
In questo libro ritroveremo tutti i protagonisti della serie ed ognuno di loro avrà un ruolo importante nella storia e soprattutto nella vita di Oz.
Come negli altri libri, anche in questo ritroveremo la bellissima amicizia vera e leale tra i tre ragazzi; scopriremo un dolcissimo Oz e vivremo il suo amore intenso e romantico per Kendall.
Eh sì ragazze i nostri nerd preferiti sono tornati e vi consiglio assolutamente di non perdervi neanche questo capolavoro!

Conosciamo l’ultimo protagonista della serie Checkmate Inc., il terzo proprietario dell’impresa che dà il nome alla serie. Oz lavora nel laboratorio ed è colui che progetta e porta i nuovi prodotti alla vendita ma ha il cuore infranto e nessuna voglia di lanciarsi in una nuova relazione. La sua nuova assistente Kendall ha però altri progetti per lui e scombussolerà le sue convinzioni.
Oscar Strong è per tutti Oz, un nerd con la passione per gli scacchi, proprio come i suoi soci che sono la sua vera famiglia. Ha sperimentato il dolore di un divorzio e il rancore verso una famiglia molto ricca che gli fa apprezzare quello che ha ottenuto con i suoi meriti e che non è disposto a cedere per nulla al mondo. Non ha bisogno di assistenti più che altro perché è talmente burbero e dispotico da farle scappare a gambe levate. L’ultima però sembra non solo sapere il fatto suo ma essere troppo qualificata per questo ruolo. Quando scoprirà di più della sua vita sarà troppo tardi per fare un passo indietro e nel periodo del metoo sarà difficile difendersi con i soci davanti a una sconveniente liaison lavorativa.
‘Ci metterò anima e corpo. Sono pronto a divertirmi secondo le sue regole. Solo che non mi rendo conto, fino a quando non è troppo tardi, che la partita che lei vuole giocare è seducente, bollente, sexy e… peccaminosa.’
Kendall Tate ha un disperato bisogno di lavorare, deve aiutare la sorella che ha sperimentato cosa vuol dire stare con uomini ricchi e viziati che ti lasciano nel momento del bisogno. Ha una passione per il rosa e non esce mai di casa senza almeno un indumento addosso di quel colore e ciò non passa inosservato al suo algido ma sexy capo che la chiamerà Candy e inizierà a sua volta ad indossare cravatte dello stesso colore. La chimica tra lei e il suo responsabile è innegabile e complici riunioni noiose e laboratori a portata di mano la passione esploderà trasformandosi ben presto in una bollente storia d’amore.
Siamo arrivati al capolinea e un po’ mi dispiace, tutti i racconti di questa serie sono stati intriganti e molto hot. Il punto di vista prettamente maschile poi ha aggiunto quel pepe e quel divertimento che hanno reso le letture veramente deliziose. I nerd hanno proprio una marcia in più e in questo caso troviamo due protagonisti secchioni e molto coinvolti nel lavoro ma altrettanto sotto le coperte. Per Oz è difficile credere nuovamente in una donna ma anche per Kendall non sarà semplice allontanarsi dallo stereotipo del ricco con la puzza sotto il naso. Insieme si scoprono affini ma prima di capitolare dichiarando i propri sentimenti dovranno inciampare almeno un paio di volte.
Ritroviamo gli altri protagonisti dei precedenti libri che non solo aiuteranno Oz e Kendall ma ci faranno vivere altre interessanti evoluzioni che li riguardano.
La parte hot è sicuramente la parte che intriga di più nella storia, narrata bene come negli altri libri è sicuramente un punto di forza per l’autrice che spero di tornare a leggere presto.

Una lettura senza troppe pretese che però non mi ha annoiata e ho affrontato con curiosità e spensieratezza. Se non avete ancora letto la serie, fatelo, sono tutti stand alone e tutti equamente sensuali e divertenti.

Oscar “Oz” Strong è genio della biochimica, campione di scacchi, quoziente intellettivo di 184 e socio fondatore di un’azienda multimilionaria.
Un cervellone nel suo lavoro ma sul piano personale un vero disastro, il lavoro principale della direttrice delle risorse umane è quello di trovargli un’assistente personale che lui non licenzi nel giro di pochi minuti.
Kendall Tate è la persona perfetta per questo lavoro e l’assunzione è unanime: Kendall, benvenuta alla Checkmate Inc!
Una relazione capo - assistente sarebbe pressoché distruttiva ma è una sfida troppo intrigante per entrambi e nessuno vuole lasciar perdere.
Quarto e ultimo libro della serie e finalmente entriamo nella vita di Oz. È dal primo libro che volevo conoscere meglio il burbero biochimico che gira costantemente in infradito e che non esce mai dal suo laboratorio.
Finalmente un POV unico: conosciamo Kendall (Candy per Oz) solamente per come la vede Oz e va bene così perché sinceramente i doppi pov vengono a noia.
Una novellina breve e divertente come tutti i romanzi della serie, un buon erotico come al solito.
Di solito il genere erotico lo prendo sempre con le pinze… può essere una bomba da far sudare un peccatore in chiesa oppure essere cringe da morire, nessuna via di mezzo.
Direi di essere rimasta più che soddisfatta!
Unica pecca che i personaggi non sono stati troppo sviluppati (sfido chiunque a riuscirci in 200 pagine) con un centinaio di pagine in più sarebbe stato perfetto.
Un cervellone nel suo lavoro ma sul piano personale un vero disastro, il lavoro principale della direttrice delle risorse umane è quello di trovargli un’assistente personale che lui non licenzi nel giro di pochi minuti.
Kendall Tate è la persona perfetta per questo lavoro e l’assunzione è unanime: Kendall, benvenuta alla Checkmate Inc!
Una relazione capo - assistente sarebbe pressoché distruttiva ma è una sfida troppo intrigante per entrambi e nessuno vuole lasciar perdere.

ritorniamo tra le mura della Checkmate Inc, per quello che credevo fosse l’ultimo capitolo della serie, nel libro precedente, infatti, in barba a quello che io e tante lettrici aspettavamo, l’autrice aveva deciso di dare la scena ad un amico del trio dei nerd e aveva lasciato da parte il personaggio di Oz che, personalmente, ho amato fin dal primo libro. Ora siamo finalmente arrivate a lui, all’uomo che non riesce a sopportare le assistenti per più di qualche settimana, che riesce a far perdere la pazienza anche ai Santi e che pur avendo un quoziente intellettivo altissimo proprio non riesce a farsi andare bene nulla. In realtà lui ha un problema di fiducia. Tutto di lui mi dava delle belle sensazioni e devo dire che leggendo la sua storia ha continuato ad esercitare un certo fascino sulla mia immaginazione. Ma veniamo al dunque, dopo essersi liberato dell’ennesima assistente senza nemmeno aver detto nulla, semplicemente guardandola, gli viene imposto, anzi intimato dai suoi soci di darsi una calmata, il momento che l’azienda sta vivendo è talmente delicato che anche quella che potrebbe essere considerata una banalità rischierebbe di esporli troppo. Certo, lui capisce l’importanza del momento, in fondo è stato lui a portarli fino a quel punto e poi non vede l’ora di quotare la sua “creatura” in borsa per espandersi in tutto il mondo, ma non è colpa sua se non riesce a stabilire un rapporto di fiducia con coloro che non fanno parte della sua ristretta cerchia di amici. Oz, contrariamente al resto del trio non ha mai dovuto preoccuparsi dei soldi, è nato ricco, ma ha avuto la sfortuna di avere un padre manipolatore, una madre che chiude gli occhi sulle cattiverie del marito e, dulcis in fundo, una ex moglie che lo ha tradito prima ancora che la torta nuziale venisse digerita dai partecipanti alla festa. Quindi, come dargli torto se non si fida di nessuno, se non riesce a stabilire con le assistenti un rapporto decente? Poi, un lampo di rosa in una sala affollata cambia tutto il suo mondo, lo sconvolge, lo rende imbambolato, lo capovolge, lo incrina così tanto da iniziare a vedere e usare quel colore ovunque. Pink, ovvero Kendall, la sua nuova assistente, sembra un confetto succoso e prelibato e lui non vede l’ora di assaggiarne il sapore, di far esplodere le sue papille gustative in un tripudio di sensazioni. Maaa, non si può! Assolutamente, no! Se lui facesse qualche avances e la ragazza in questione ne parlasse con le risorse umane tutto quello per cui ha lavorato così duramente andrebbe a rotoli e, cosa ancora più importante, i suoi soci rimarrebbero molto delusi e lui questo proprio non se lo può permettere. I suoi soci sono fratelli per lui, sono l’unica famiglia che ha. Ma la passione sfrigola potente fra loro, anche Kendall non sembra indifferente, è la situazione si complica sempre più. Riusciranno a tenere le mani lontane l’uno dall’altra? Ne vedremo delle belle!!
In conclusione posso dirvi che leggere anche questa nuova avventura non sarà affatto spiacevole, Oz è un gran bel personaggio e le situazioni che si creano fra i due protagonisti sono frizzanti, divertenti e passionali. Come sempre l’unica nota un po’ stonata è la mancanza del punto di vista femminile, anche Kendall con la sua vita aveva tanto da raccontare, ma credo che sia proprio il modo di scrivere dell’autrice che fino ad ora non ha mai dato spazio alla controparte femminile delle sue storie. Nonostante ciò, se avete voglia di staccare la spina, di farvi qualche risata ed emozionarvi per le “scappatelle” dei nostri beniamini questo è proprio il romanzo che fa al caso vostro.

This one was basically a hate read. It’s exclusively from the “hero’s” point of view, and he’s a dipshit from the first chapter. He uses his poor little rich boy secret pain to treat other people like crap. He immediately sees the heroine as a walking vagina, and has such a persistent boner he really should go to the emergency room.
There’s so much bullshit gender essentialism, it makes me want to scream. “Real” men can’t wear certain colours, straight men surely can’t design a retail store, and driving a minivan would mean turning in one’s “man card”.
Hard pass on this author for me in the future.

This book well deserves the accolades it has received. Since this was the first Shelly Alexander book I’ve read, it did take me a little while to get used to the male only first person. The voice was wonderful, but I’m not accustomed to being in only one character’s point of view for the whole book. But once I acclimated to that, I really enjoyed this book. The sex scenes where very hot, the emotional journey was believable and I loved how the author left no thread unconnected. I will definitely be reading more of this authors work.

There’s no place like Oz
I have been waiting a long time for Oz’s story to the point of mildly stalking Shelly because he is my favorite hunky geek. Oz and Kendall were combustible. You can’t fight chemistry or love. There’s so much that I want to say but I don’t want to give away spoilers. It was great to catch up with all of the previous characters. Shelly Alexander never fails to deliver a great read. I’m looking forward to the next installment.

Sinful Games is more than an erotic romance. The attraction between Kendall & Oz is immediate. However the company policy is hyper aware of the "Me too movement" so the attraction has a few hurdles to overcome. Add in Checkmate Inc's IPO, a power play by Oz's father, & Kendall's niece needing a Cochlear ear implant and you have an exciting storyline.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

Amazing! I love Oz and Kendall. The chemistry between the characters was hot! I love how close Oz, Leo, and Dex. They made a family of friends that support up for each other. This is the fourth book in this series and I definitely want to go back and read the other books in this series. I highly recommend this book!

Fun and sexy read. It was fun catching up with all of the characters from Checkmate, inc. This is Oz’s and Kendall’s story, which is a forbidden office romance. What kept this from being a five star review was the plot device used for the climax of the book, you could see coming a mile away.

Super hot contemporary romance, with my favorite kind of geeky sexy hero. Workplace romances aren't my favorite--it's so easy for the power dynamics to be off or underrated--but this story took all those factors into account and handled them well.
