Blackbird Falling

Meet Delia. Gifted. Magical. Broken.

Hell hath no fury like Delia Caibre—Gifted single mom with the power to make people love her, and a chip on her shoulder the size of the Mississippi.

When last summer left her broken by a monster, and abandoned by the man she trusted, Delia pulled herself up and vowed to never let anyone hurt her, or those she loves, again. So when Thomas Richard shows up, begging forgiveness and flashing his hundred-watt-smile, Delia lets him know that it will take more than dimples and promises to win her back.

Besides, raising her daughter, Genevieve—whose Gift is rare and stronger than anyone in the magical Caibre family—leaves little room for things like dating. But Thomas is persistent. And cute…and it would be nice to feel carefree and nineteen.

Until a masked-man from her past wields a Curse that leaves Delia’s beloved sister on her deathbed, and makes off with Genevieve. It will take the most powerful in the Caibre family to put things right. But bringing her broken family together may prove impossible, even if not doing so means their destruction.

Another fantastic contemporary fiction grown-up fairy tale with a bit of love, mystery & magic! “Blackbird Falling” is the 2nd fast-paced unique story in this mystical series, that grabbed me from the start & kept me glued to my seat! ... Amazing attention to detail with surprises and well-defined characters and dialogue will take readers on an emotional roller-coaster ride while turning pages like crazy! I would say this must read is like a PNR or Fantasy genre book but so awesome and different from anything I've ever read before. I hate waiting for release days, so since becoming a huge fan of this author, I always volunteer to read her books beforehand, but without any outside influences. These are my honest feelings & I highly recommend this novel to all fans of fiction, but I suggest reading book #1 first :) I can’t wait for the next installment, but I will do my best ;)

I just loved "Blackbird Falling" by Em Shotwell. What is it about this story that I just love so much... I can't find the words. It's such a different story... not fitting into one perfect genre. It's so unique - so mystical, so beautifully written that I'm always excited to hear that another book related to this "series" is coming out.
If you are a fan of the "mystical" than you need to pick up all the books written by this author. You won't be disappointed and will most likely become instantly hooked like all her other fans!
Oh... I received a complementary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review - but I will gladly pay full price for it - usually just can't wait for the release!!!!
Happy Reading...enjoy!

This second book found the Caibre girls, Delia and Tallulah, still reeling from their losses and trying to deal with their new reality. Of course, as Tully's love life seems to have settled down, Delia's situation is becoming more and more complicated. This exciting drama has everything, romance, intrigue, mystery, and magic. Plus, this tale is presented with all of the charm and mystique of rural Mississippi. I found this fascinating story filled with so many surprise revelations that I couldn't read fast enough to uncover the climax. This story will grab you, pull you in, and hold your interest until the final scenes. I Loved It!!!!!

This is a wonderfully written, cleverly devised and uniquely imagined book in this genre of paranormal literature. These gifted people are shunned and feared by the non-gifted unless they had a need of their talents. This group has suffered mercilessly at the hands of a radical faction and are slowly beginning to recoup when tragedy strikes again. It is this crisis that spurs them into action and the story that ensues will keep you on the edge of your seat. Could not put the book down and hope to read more about this gifted group.

the love of a mother is one of the most powerful things on earth.

even in this dystopian future world, the love of a mother is mighty, even, and perhaps especially, for a mom who has been broken apart by loves, losses, and betrayals

can her heart and her skills help her to save what and who matter most to her?

can she survive if she is unable to do so?

tragic and conflicting adventures

19-year-old Delia is strong-willed, difficult, and relatable broken. She has had the burdens and punishments associated with being female in today’s world thrust upon her, from the best to the very worst.

But throw her daughter in the mix, and the buck stops here.

I adore this (anti)heroine for her attitude, daring, and willingness to do the ugly thing others won’t to protect those she loves.

I loved it! Blackbird Falling is a wonderful follow up to Blackbird Summer. The first part of the book is light and sweet but takes a dark turn when Gen is kidnapped. I loved the way Shotwell wove together the story and the world. A must read if you enjoy urban fantasy.

I received this as an ARC book, but I am not obligated to post a review for this book and the opinions expressed are my own.
The life of a young girl and her family that are shunned by the community because of their gifts.
Delia’s life is finally getting back to normal, as normal as it can. With Delia you can’t always be sure.
The last year has been a year of horror, but now her little baby girl helps to soothe the bad memories. Genevieve helps to bring joy to all the family. Suddenly Thomas returns. Why? Then, Genevieve’s father also returns. Again, why? Delia’s story is complicated. She is still healing from the events of the last year, raising a child and now trying to figure out her feelings of her past relationships. Shotwell’s descriptions of nature and Delia’s emotions are so real, you’re right there. Delia’s story shows her wildness, vulnerability , loyalty to family and her love for her daughter. A must read to follow the strong and mysterious family.
