A fascinating book that reveals the ancient craft of tarot and offers detailed guidance on how to conduct tarot readings of your ownThis book teaches the reader how to connect with the time-honoured wisdom and spiritual power of the tarot and make major decisions - just by turning a card. Author and tarot expert Kim Arnold teaches using the Rider Waite tarot, which is acknowledged as the classic deck to begin understanding this ancient system. An ideal guide for first-time users of tarot cards, this book includes advice - Choosing the right deck for you- Interpreting each of the 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana cards- A variety of different spreads and techniques for weaving together the cards when you do a reading for yourself and others- Ways to meditate on the cards and go deeper into their messagesThis title was previously published within the Hay House Basics series.
It is a very solid reference book for beginners. I liked it - I did not love it. The book features an image and a short description of each of the cards as well as some tarot use and spread basics. It does what it says on the tin - its a book that simplifies and makes the subject easy. The reason I am not rating it higher is that some of the meanings and comments just did not quite resonate with me, but I suppose that is down to personal preference - I was left wanting a bit more substance and depth, but, again, I should have re-read the book title on why this was not the book for that! I will still be keeping this book as an easy go-to reference guide and would recommend this as a good easily digestible starting point for a beginner on the subject of Tarot.
I would say it is 3.5 stars, but I wanted to be nice. The book gives more insight into the card readings, than most booklets which come with your set of cards. The cards used are Rider Waite tarot, so the cards description is not always aplicable and I often just skip it, since I do not use that Tarot deck. Apart from that, it gives you some more insight into the card and also offers some basic interpretation methods, like 3 or 4 cards, which is simple and I want a quick one. Version of Celtic cross is also included in the book. Overall, solid book, just wish there were tips on how to interpret for example pentacles when you are looking at a relationship question. I did get another book for that, I admit, since it is something I still bit struggle with.
A good “starter” book for beginners but there is some misinformation in this book regarding shuffling and storage of your cards. The author seems stuck in some old belief systems as well as common tarot myths. That being said her descriptions of the individual card meanings is clear and easy to understand. She also provides some good practice spreads at the back of the book.
I love the way this book explains major arcana & minor arcana. Wonderful tips, insights, examples and explanations which help u understand the tarot in a gentle way!
An addictive and insightful read. This book is perfect for beginners whilst also giving additional insight into the tarot cards. My only wish is that she had described the reversed meanings in detail.
Very useful little book. Just what I needed as got a tarot deck free with a magazine and this was handy to use as a guide book. Would recommend for beginners and I'm quite interested in some of the other books in this Made easy series.
It’s a good reference book, especially if you’re new to tarot. I think it would be nice to get some more insight in general but that’s just not the point of the book, which is very fair.
I feel like as someone who doesn’t know much about tarot, it’s nice to get an introductory look into the whole thing that’s not too overwhelming.
I thought this book was very informative. As someone who practices various craft practices and has dabbled in tarot, this book still held plenty of information for me. It gives at least a full page of description for each card and has a few opening/closing chapters that explains how the cads can fit together. One thing that stuck out to me was that Kim Arnold lets the reader know more than just key words. She says that you have to look deeper at the cards and to focus on the background as well as the center, since the settings, colors, and numbers all tie into the meaning as well.
She did good, this book has helped me dive a bit deeper into my tarot readings.
