About the author

R. Karl Largent, a.k.a. Robin Karl or Simon Lawrence, is an author, lecturer, and columnist who teaches writing at Tri-State University. Before launching his writing career, he spent 30 years in industry, the last 17 as VP of Marketing for a Fortune 500 multinational. A former horse show judge and trainer of youth horses, he competed in SCCA road racing events, flew as a weather observer in the USAF, completed a tour of duty in the Arctic and served with the U.S. Weather Bureau.

R. Karl Largent is the author of over 600 columns. He has also authored nearly two dozen novels including the bestselling "Red" series. He has also written six non-fiction books as well as numerous articles for magazines, newspapers and other publications.

This is the fourth entry in the TC Bogner series.

This book was better than the one prior and more interesting as it dealt with the Ukrainian/Russian power struggle. Namely, how Russian aligned Ukrainians are still trying to maintain control of the Ukraine. Very topical even today even though this is a recent post-cold war story.

This story also dealt with the same Chinese organization as that in the previous book although never directly. This story concentrated on the Ukrainian faction, the KON, and their effort to transfer missiles to the Chinese Fifth Academy rather than sending them to Russia for decommissioning. This story started off interestingly and then slowed until the appearance of Bogner about 100 pages in.

My other main complaint is how quickly this story wrapped up. I would liked to have dealt more with consequences and aftermath of the climactic events.
