“There is no easy way to say this, so I am just going to say it. Your son has cancer”. With those words we instantly became members of a club no parent wants to belong too. The club of; Parents who have a Child with Cancer. However, over the course of our family’s journey fighting this disease we came to realize what a special club we had become a part of and how many wonderful people are associated with it.
We experienced wonderful days and scary days. Days filled with tears of joy and laughter and days filled with tears of fear and sadness. Along the way though we grew as a family and learned to treasure each moment that God gives us and to do our best to live in that moment. We learned to trust in God and His plan for us and to lean on His will and not our own. We took care of each other, friends and family and life went on as we fought the terrible illness that had attacked our son and our family.
“bradyspowers” is a record of that journey and fight. Through it all the Mickey Family never quits and each day ends with “To be continued” because nothing ever really ends and there is always the next new dawn.
"Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
I am related to the Mickey clan and this is an excellent account of the trials and tribulations of caring for a terminally ill child. I have done this, and this book truly reflects the agonizing toll it takes on your life. Fortunately, Robert Mickey and his family are Christians, so it reflects what will get you thru it. Prayers for all those who have to deal with this. Someone once told me, having had to deal with the death of a child made me a person who could help others; well I hope I have, for anytime my friends know someone in a similar situation, they tell me to go talk with them. God is good, and he gets us thru these difficult times. Praises to the Mickey family for all their in site and love given to Brady and his struggle. Brady is a true angel watching over all of us!
