Friends are among our most treasured possessions. But unlike a bank account or a stock certificate, the value of a true friendship is beyond measure. This book celebrates the joys of building and preserving your personal estate of lifelong friends. On these pages are friendly advice from a collection of experts on laughter, loyalty, sharing, and trust. There is the reminder to aid an ally, to back a backer, or console a comrade. In the pages of this book may be found the inspiration to pick up the telephone and reconnect with a long lost pal. Those providing this inspiration include Emily Dickinson, Maya Angelo, Bennett Cerf, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and numerous other "friends."
This is a short book that was in a box of books a friend brought me from a library sale. It is a collection of quotations about friendship. It opens with a quote from Emily Dickinson and ends with one from Grace Metalious. This is a book one just has around and picks up to read off and on. I am confined with a fractured ankle, so I ended up reading it from cover to cover in one sitting. I thought it was a most appropriate book as I am leaning heavily on my friend for everything at the moment.
I found the book enjoyable. It is short at 157 pages. Published by Walnut Gove Press.
Book of quotes. -It's the friends you can call up at 4:00 a.m. that matter. -Be a friend to thyself, and others will be so too. -There's no friend like someone who has known you since you were five.
