Water Dragons #3

Blood Dragon

Rate this book
Dragon shifter series set in the same world as The Bride Hunt series Bay knew what she was. Definitely not human. Not even close. He knew she was startlingly beautiful. He even knew what she looked like naked. Unfortunately, he didn’t know who she was. Not really. Even her name was a mystery. Where was she now? What was she doing? What was she thinking? Thoughts like those continued to spin around and around in his head. Making him crazy. Making it so that he couldn’t think of anything else. It was affecting his work, his sleep, his life. His sanity! Why had she up and left in the middle of the night? Gone before he could ask her that one burning question. The answer to which could alter his life. In just a couple of days, he and Torrent were meeting with all of the leaders of the non-humans. They were going to discuss the Slayers. Right now the Hunters were targeting the dragons, but who of the species would be next? Something needed to be done. A collective effort needed to be made. He should be strategizing. Learning all there was to know of his new role. Yet, here he was, agonizing over what he would say when he saw her next. Stupid, stupid, stupid! What had she been thinking? If anyone ever found out she’d spent the night with a dragon shifter, she’d be in a ton of trouble. Good thing she was never going to see him again. She could move on with her life and put that one lapse of judgment firmly behind her. Sure, there were a couple of dragon delegates set to attend the big meeting between the species, but what were the chances of one of them being him? Contains hot alpha males and therefore strong sexual themes/language

Blood Dragon is the exciting third installment in the Water Dragons series, which follows The Bride Hunt series. The story revolves around a dragon who meets a vampire in a bar and their lives are changed forever. But they as a species don't tend to get along. That's when the fun begins.

While each book can be enjoyed as a standalone, it's best to read them in order to fully appreciate the rich paranormal elements and exciting themes they offer. The characters must fight to stay alive, but what they discover is even more significant than they ever imagined.

I love the strong, sexy alpha males in protective roles!

Big points for the new setting!

Love the vampire/dragon combination.😈
That meet up was intense!

Plot wise we are in for a treat. It really was a fresh breath, because usually I find Hartnadys books to follow the same pattern. And we got a bit more action, and the friendship between Ceri & Drago is #goals

Rating books like these are always highly tricky for me, because I love the “easy-going-ness” of the story, the uncomplicated feel to it, but because they are so “chill” we don’t really see that much character development, deep plot or intricate storyline. And yet. These stories deeply appeals to me because they are to relaxed.
They are also slightly cheesy😂 But the steam though. It sure is hot!

And who doesn’t love a big and powerful dragon?

So basically what I want to say I rate this 3.75 stars in the “we are a light, chill, and sexy paranormal read” - category😂

Read: 18/06/2020
1st rating: 3.75 stars
Genre/tropes: Paranormal/romance/dragons/vampires/shifters/wolves
Cover: 3 stars
POV’s: Dual -3rd person (Ceri & Bayou aka Bay- or I am 99 %sure it’s short for Bayou, because of book 2, but I can’t recall anyone actually called him anything other than Bay in Blood Dragon) 😂
Will I recommend: Yes, if you need something light and steamy. Or just flat out crave dragons🤷🏻‍♀️

This is the third book in the Water Dragons series which can be read as a stand alone but you will get the best of the series if read in order.
Here we follow on from a teaser in book 2 with Bay who has met Ceri while on a Stag Run. He knows she isn’t human but the attraction is there for them both so what harm can one night do? Bay is sure that with his issues nothing can come of this night & Ceri is just going to enjoy some fun with this hunk of a dragon.
I loved their story & that we got to touch on some of previous characters from the series especially the Vampires.
I was lucky enough to be given an ARC but have read all of the series from the Vampire Kings onwards so wouldn’t have missed this one which is a worthy addition.

I LOVED this story. A dragon and a vampire in one story... about time! We get Bay who finds a vampire at a bar... I am sure there is a joke in there somewhere.

Ceri is in town to find some fun when Bay and she find some fun together. Little did they know that they are about to have a future neither of them sees coming.

I laughed, cried, and sighed during this book. I felt for Ceri and some for Bay during this book. I felt for the vampire women like I did when I read the first vampire books. I loved the ending of this book and hoped to see more of these two characters!

This author writes some great stories. She is also great at writing some spicy love scenes. I liked Bay and Ceri it just took them awhile to realize they were made for each other.

This one was a bit different than most of the others in the dragon series. A dragon and a vampire. It makes for an interesting combo.

I've not read any of the overall series except for the dragon ones. I can grasp that there are characters from the first several stories that are back in this one and I'm sure it is nice for the readers who have read them all to get back to characters they know and love. I'm not so into vampires so skipped those ones, however this story is making think about going back and reading them.

I am really happy for Bay to get his story and a mate. Ceri is an interesting character.

I do wonder about the shifter who go his face burnt off, the author never tells us what type of shifter he is, I am leaning towards bear since the one who seams more concerned for him is a bear but he has a wolf friend also. It just seams strange that a bear would be so hot headed. In all the other shifter stories from several different authors I've read, the bear shifters are usually the calmer, more mellow/ slow to anger, than the wolf shifters.

I am getting really tired of Torrent's asshole nature. You would think since he is mated, and to a human, one, he would be a bit more understanding towards Flood and his actions, and two, towards Bay and him wanting to be at the birth. Torrent was there when Candy gave birth, so why would he think it unnatural for Bay to be there for Ceri. I just don't understand the hypocrisy he is spouting.

I loved it!

Warning: mature sexual content, mature themes, and language.

It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I couldn’t put it down, I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. This is book three of four in The Water Dragon series.
(Set in the same world The Chosen Series)

Bay knew what she was, and she was definitely not human, not even close. He knew she was startlingly beautiful, and he even knew what she looked like naked. Unfortunately, he didn’t know who she was, even her name was a mystery.

His thoughts were filled with the questions where she is now, what is she doing, and what she was thinking? These thoughts continued to spin around and around in his head, making him crazy, and making it so that he couldn’t think of anything else. It was affecting his work, his sleep, his life, and even his sanity. Why had she up and left in the middle of the night? Gone before he could ask her that one burning question, the answer to which could alter his life.

In just a couple of days, he and Torrent were meeting with all of the leaders of the non-humans to discuss the Slayers. Right now the Hunters were targeting the dragons, but who of the species would be next Something needed to be done, a collective effort needed to be made, and he should be strategizing and learning all there was to know of his new role; yet, here he was, agonizing over what he would say when he saw her next.

She acted stupid, and is wondering what she had been thinking? If anyone ever found out she’d spent the night with a dragon shifter, she’d be in a ton of trouble. Good thing she was never going to see him again, and she could move on with her life and put that one lapse of judgment firmly behind her. Sure, there were a couple of dragon delegates set to attend the big meeting between the species, but what were the chances of one of them being him? So with all that and more this story pulls you in and holds you tight. It’s a must read. I highly recommend to everyone.

Who? No what was that stunning woman at the bar! His Dragon was curious…
Bay had followed her into the bar and now was watching and trying to scent her to discover what she was he knew she certainly wasn’t human and his dragon had to find out what she was? She was beautiful tall, lithe with beautiful green eves and long dark hair he approached her and she smiled, she was as curious as he was a Dragon and a Vampire who ever would have thought?
Bay is surprised that he is intrigued by the woman she is to the point, direct like many shifters he is going to give her pleasure but he had received so very much more. She was gone and his heart hurt he knew that he had to find her, Ceri’s heart ached with her need for Bay and her thirst since tasting him, any other blood was like water.
The gathering for the very first time of all the Shifter communities, their heads had attended the vampire site as this was the most appropriate for them all and Ceri could not believe her eves Bay was here! He had found her and all she could feel was her fangs lengthening, thirst growing and the need to rut was nearly over powering and not necessarily in that order.
Bay walked into the Healers room and his heart stopped it has her! He had dreamed of finding her again and talking with her to ask her questions about herself, he wanted to get to know her a all Ceri could feel was the need to keep him away, her thirst was all consuming.
An unbelievable occurrence and the two of them are together and they begin to get to know each other, Bay has discovered that he enjoys working alongside her as a Healer rather than fighting and protection as an Elite Warrior. Well they say it’s an equal opportunities world for humans why shouldn’t the same apply to Shifters as well?
I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
I received this book as an advanced copy & am choosing to review it voluntarily.

Another one bites the dust!

We meet Bay and Ceri in book 3 of the Water Dragon Series. This 3rd installment is so much different than the first two, in a really good way. Charlene Hartnady is a genius with pulling her series together in such a way that you're never bored. Each book is fresh and new while still making perfect sense and staying connected as a series. Bay has had some serious trauma in his past, physically and mentally. Feeling as if love will forever elude him, he has little expectation in ever finding a mate of his own. While in town for a stag run, Bay spots a women that completely captures his attention. He's not sure who or what she is, but he's completely drawn in by her. Ceri is an amazing character and I liked her more and more as the story unfolds. I won't give much more away. I will say this, I loved these two and couldn't wait to see them come together and embrace what they have together. It was a really enjoyable read. Charlene Hartnady never disappoints!

Language and sexual themes are present. Well worth the read and a definite 5 stars for me!

Finally we heard Bay's story! I have been wondering about him, and I read so excited to read his story! I loved that the book included the dragons and vampires, since I have missed reading about the vampires. It was such a fantastic story. Bay and Ceri made for an interesting couple. They come from two different worlds, and what are the chances that they would keep bumping into one another! From previous books, we knew that there was something wrong with Bay, and I was so glad to finally know! It was definitely an interesting addition to the story, and it made the book that much better. What a teaser at the end! I don't know how I am going to wait until the next book!!
I highly recommend this book, and definitely the first two books in the series. Then go and read about the vampires! You won't be disappointed!!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book.

Water dragon & Vampire "heal" each other

This is the third book in the series I it was fill with plenty of humor, steaminess and a bit of anxiety. It happens a lot with the books in this series, at least to me it does.

Character breakdown;

Bay: I loved him from the beginning and was thrilled to see him get a happy ending he so deserved. And to have what he never thought? Even better.

Ceri: that vampire was not what I was expecting but she turned out to be way better. And that she too had similar things with Bay made it even better.

The series just keeps getting more exciting but that tease at the end had me screaming no at the top of my lungs lol. Looking forward to it thanks Charlene for making it this way!

Several amazing twists that kept me wanting more

I loved that this book contained not only the dragons but the vampires and a few other species from a couple of previous series written by this author.
Bay goes on a stag run with other dragons. Since he can't be with a woman sexually because of an injury, he goes to a different bar to be alone. While there he meets a vampire who gives him a fake name. They decide to leave together and a few surprising things happen.
You definitely need to get this book to find out what the twists are. I wonder if this will lead to a whole new story line with the dragons and vampires. The ending leads into the next book and it also sounds amazing!

It makes my day when Charlene Hartnady releases a book. It was good to see what was going on in Sweetwater. Bay meets Ceri a vampire on one of the Stag Runs. Bay is impotent but when he is with Ceri he's fully functional. They end up meeting again when the Dragon shifters call a meeting of all shifters on vampire land. He intends to ask Ceri why he's suddenly able to perform with her but they keep ending up sleeping together. Ceri has had a hysterectomy but she ends up pregnant with Bay's whelp. This was one of my favorites. I can read about the dragons forever. Looking forward to the next book.

Bay has finally been ‘encouraged’ to attend the twice annual Stag run, but knows nothing will happen as per usual. When Bay goes across the road, leaving his brothers to find women for the night, he stumbles onto a woman who is other....not human, but hard to distinguish what she is. This intrigued him and ultimately leads to a night neither one can forget. Fate intervenes and they meet up on Vampire territory later down the track and actions lead to consequences neither saw coming.

Great story about Bay and Cheri and I eagerly await the next story in this series❣️

Ceri and Bay's Story

This story of the Water Dragons involves Bay and his love interest, Ceri who is a vampire. I loved how they were so drawn to each other and how irrisistable their attraction was. I was also very happy that Bay didn't go running as soon as Ceri showed her fangs and drew his blood. I appreciated how everything worked out in the end to give us the HEA that I yearn for with every book I read, so thank you Ms. Hartnady for that, it was much appreciated and well deserved for the characters.

Bay was participating in the Stag Run even though his physical condition left him frustrated and unable to truly enjoy the company of a female. Then he sees her, Ceri. Everything about her draws him in and intrigues him. Their physical attraction is immediate and they are destined to spend time together. I enjoyed all of the unexpected surprises in this story and couldn't wait to see how Bay and Ceri would handle their unique situations. I was completely absorbed by this tale and look forward to the next book in this series. I wish this series was longer!!!!!

By Charlene Hartnady

Bay is a water dragon at his prime. He and his fellow water dragons are on a stag run. he was injured and he feels there is no reason to be here but his friends talked him into coming.
Ceri is a vampire and she is on vacation and she knows exactly what she wants and that is the dragon standing in front of her.
This is a hot and heavy story. From page one to the last. I could NOT put it down! Book 4 here I come!

Vampire Dragons

A unique story it was a bit of a sad story but with tons of exciting and happy twists. I am not sure how I felt about them spending so much time apart between the Lair and the coven. It was fun to visit the Vampires of Sweetwater again... Drago's story must certainly include a Dragon as he already has a taste for Dragon blood... The part that was confusing was its a water dragons series but assume from Bay being a water dragon it mostly happens in the Vampires castle.... Surely there should have been more with them together at the lair.

Hope & possibilities! Loved It!

Bay finally has his story, yay! He sees a beautiful woman, she smells so delicious. But what is she? This is one female he won't turn down.

I really enjoyed this book. Both characters had a past that was torturing their future's. Things they long since thought were out of their reach, they will discover that together anything is possible.

Bay & Ceri's story incorporates many characters from her other books and offers hope, second chances, new beginnings and so much more.  Great HEA! Happy Reading!

4 out 5 stars

I give this book 4/5 stars. I liked the story line and this entire series is one of my absolute favorites, however I took off a star for some grammar issues and because this book felt a little longer than it needed to be. Maybe I was just anxious for them to be together because I loved their story. I would recommend this book and it can be read as a stand alone but is better read as a whole series, start at the beginning with Tanya’s book!

I really enjoyed this book. The interspecies dating is always fun to read. Overall, I liked it a lot. Other than her whining about him possibly going to sleep with another female when they weren't together. That was just silly. She's a vamp, they have high sex drives. Yet she acted totally ridiculous. I considered knocking down a star due to that. But didn't. The overall plot was great albeit predictable. Loved getting a small update on Brant and Zane. Love those vamps and Tanya.

Good book

Another good read in this series always had a soft spot for Bay you had to be sorry for the guy having his manhood cut off and then when it grew back he was impotent. Ceri a Vampire had her womb removed when young because it is believed that females with narrow hips can't have children. All it takes are these two meeting up falling in love and taking each others blood and bam both are cured. A good Dragon book

This book was a surprise and it was fun to return to the vampire coven and catch up with old friends. I think a genuine solution has been found for the female vampires. Though it looks like things are going to get rough for the dragons the way this book ended.

For the love of Dragons

She's done it again. A fabulous story added to the already wonderful series of shifters, vampires, and dragons around Sweetwater. Any book that starts with the Stag Run promises fun, but this one had me hooked. I can't wait for the next book.

I recommend reading this series.

Another winner

It is probably a 4.5, but in terms of enjoyment it is certainly a 5 for me. I really enjoy her characters and the attendant romance. Also every time I pick up one of her books I know I will feel really good at the end which has led me to reread quite a few of her stories.

Awesome Book

Loved this series! This book was just as great as all the previous ones and holds your attention from beginning to end? There's plenty of action, drama, passion, and plenty of steamy hot romance with awesome characters? A must buy and waiting anxiously for the next book in the series.

Blood Dragon

I knew once she got with Bay and made him drink from her, her womb would grow back. Vampire's have healing properties in their blood and so do dragons. Plus I suspected the two of them were mates. Ceri was just too stubborn and insecure to give Bay a chance. So glad she had a healthy baby without complications.

Love this series! So good!

Wow!!! I loved Bay and Ceri!!! I’ve missed the vampires so much and finally we get a mixture of vampires and dragons!! I loved the way this book ended for Ceri and Bay and their new baby together! I can’t wait for the next book in this series: Dragon Betrayal! I hope we see more mixtures between the species and more dragons and vampires, too!

If you read the 2nd book, you will know a secret about Bay that not many in the program are aware of but few. However, on a mission for the Dragon's and stag run he runs into Ceri and things get a little heated. Well, blood can help many ailments in the human world, but for dragons its a cure. This is a hot read and enjoyed every moment of it. Looking forward to more.
