Just here to update this profile. I'm actually not 25 anymore but I'll be 30 next year haha. Still writing. Wow. Can't believe it. Current book I'm working on as I type this; Moon Child.
Those Carter Boys were something else and the women in their lives were no different! Full of drama and lies, I think The Carter Boys is something good to read while in between books.
FYI: I love how Desiree did the ending. Giving each character a chance to wrap up their own story.
Whew, what a journey. There were soooo many typos throughout the entire book, but the story was good. I didn’t like quite a few of the characters, but I know people just like them, so I can appreciate the reality of the book. Jordyn was probably my favorite character of them all, male or female. I will definitely be reading the previous installment and then move on to the carter girls. I love a good laugh and can say there were plenty of funny moments. I’m big on building the characters in a storyline and multiple main characters, but there were a few I could have read less about. I would recommend this book, but if you have a major pet peeve toward errors/toxic characters, maybe you should pass. It’s worth a try though. I’m going to read a few more books before I rate Desiree as a writer.
Whew, dem Carter boys had me wanting to scream! They were so mannish, it was unreal. Trent, Elijah, Jaheim, and Trell were the worst offenders, while Shiloh stayed a mystery until Noelle stepped into the picture. Anthony and Talin’s storylines were pretty thin, mostly revolving around baby mama drama and being married. But I can’t lie—I liked the Carters overall. They reminded me a lot of the Porters, which made me enjoy them even more. Now let’s talk about Jordyn… The way she let Elijah constantly play in her face had me so irritated. But nothing made me angrier than the way Jade and Tia treated her. Jade, sis, how are you, as a dark-skinned woman, still dating a man who openly disrespects and humiliates women who look like you? Shallow doesn’t even begin to describe it. And Tia? Let’s call it what it is—she was just a h03, plain and simple. Jordyn and Noelle were my favorite characters, hands down. They just wanted to love & be loved by the men they had, despite all the chaos around them. On the other hand, Olivia? Straight snake vibes. I never trusted her “good girl” act for one second. And her friend Taylor? Let’s not forget she knew she was dead wrong from the start. How are you giving it up to a man you know has a girlfriend—on the first night y’all reconnect? Disgusting. Nasty work, for real. Overall, I loved this book. The way it was told from multiple points of view (instead of third person) made it so engaging. I can’t wait to dive into The Carter Girls next!
Desiree is easily one of my favorite urban fiction writers. I started with the Moon series but then came back and started reading her entire catalog.. The Carter Boys are CRAZY 😂 typical Atlanta things happening but I loved it all.
This was a good read. I really enjoyed getting to know this family. I try to steer clear of series, but this one wasn't so bad. Just read the damn book.
I loved this series and would have a book hangover if she didn't write the Carter Girls. Elijah and Shiloh were my favorite brothers. all in all they were all cute couples.
Okay I just have few comments READ this DAMN BOOK! I laughed and cried wanted to fight and felt the triumph for each character. I am in love with this crazy dysfunctional family as their issues mirror so many of our own and seeing how they dealt with them was something else. Ms Desiree has done it on to the next
These Carter boys weren't no joke and Olivia just out of control! So much was revealed in these stories and these kids went through a lot! Very good series just seriously needed a good editor so many grammatical errors!
This was my first time reading this author. I was blown away! I can’t wait to read more. I don’t know is she did any follow ups to this series but I would really like more
This book was fireeeee! Desiree can do no wrong in my eyes. The Carter Boys was raw and so dysfunctional, but the family dynamics and their boos had me locked in from start to finish. These brothers were off the chain, and their only sister Olivia really could’ve fooled me!
My favorite Carter boy was definitely Shiloh with his calm demeanor. He carries the weight of the family on his shoulders without them even realizing it. Learning more about the family had me emotional. They were still a mess, but once their backstory unfolded, everything started to make sense.
My least favorite brother had to be Trent, just hardheaded and didn’t learn a single lesson. I’m so glad I picked this book up. I’m definitely running through the rest of the catalog!
Absolutely loved this book! It never gets old. You can tell that this author puts a lot of thought in the plot/storyline and the characters.
Update: Just read again 3.29.22 for maybe the 10th time. Going through all of the books all over again before Desiree drops some new shit! STILL ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!! BEST READING EXPERIENCE EVER reading these books. If you have not read all 20 something of this author’s books, you are missing out. READ THEM and in order. This author is so talented that I gladly re-read all of these books every year and will continue to do so.
LISTEN READ THESE BOOKS!!!
I SAID READ THESE BOOKS IF YOU WANT TO READ THE BEST STORIES EVER TOLD!!!!
I found another book bae because Shiloh Carter is the man. The way he loves for and takes care of his siblings is unmatched. He keeps his composure so well until it's needed. The gansta comes out full blast when that trigger is pressed. Noel came through and took his heart. She is so good for him. Anthony and Talin are still sort of mysteries. Jaheim is a fool and had no business switching with Jodie like he did. So those triplets with Tia was karma.lol Trent is just a player and a bit of a narcissist. Jade was too much for him and Taylor was too easy for him to run over. Crazy ,wild ,sing his butt off Jodie met his match with Ms.Jordyn. Quiet and soft spoken until it came to the bedroom. Last the baby of the bunch Tell and the only one who is gay and has been with his liver for a while. He thinks Tyree will never leave no matter how much he cheats. Tyree does leave and show Trell he doesn't need him and Trell grows up fast. I loved the Carter boys and want more.
I love these stories by Desiree.. I backtracked so I could really get to know the other characters that kept sliding thru with The Skyes... Olivia is a mess. I was wondering why Shiloh didn't say anything to her about that money..also Shiloh saw who Michael was before when he came over to Noelles house before it was not kool that it was thought we didn't or would not notice. Guess it's just editing issues..But I will be on to The Cater Girls.
I was late reading this series. It was recommended in an on-line book club I'm in. I enjoyed this book. It made me think about my time in college. There were a few errors, but it didn't take away from the story. This was my first time reading this author, but it won't be my last. I'm buying the next books about the girls.
My friends told me that I would hate him at the end.... but nah I love him. I’m giving this book five stars because it kept me throughly entertained. There were some typos and errors but I could over look them because of the story line.
I absolutely loved the storylines. The Carter boys are crazy and the women in their lives are even crazier. A few grammatical errors but overall a really good read.
One of the best hood books that I’ve read in a very long time. It put through a complete rollercoaster but it was definitely worth it. This is one of the books that if I could reread it as if it was my first time…I would.
