This is the first novel I've read from French author Victoire Sentenac. The story is set mostly in a hospital, where 3 out of 5 leading characters are working. Some characters are well developed, while others are less. It's concise,, clear and easy to read.
The author showcases the hardwork of doctors and nurses working in this hospital. However, the author reveals also that behind the medical professional conduct toward patients and families, the medical staff too have personnal lives and may suffer severe hardships and traumas that could devastate their lives and make them rethink their entire lifestyle.
Due to the pandemic, the medical staff has been on demand at exceptional length and times. Thus, reading this book is a good way to see their lives beyond the medical appearances and reflect on the extraordinary acomplishments they realize on a daily basis.
