Just here to update this profile. I'm actually not 25 anymore but I'll be 30 next year haha. Still writing. Wow. Can't believe it. Current book I'm working on as I type this; Moon Child.
If you thought the Carter boys were bad, their women—and their sister—were way worse! Olivia had me heated until she started dealing with Andrew. That’s when she finally redeemed herself. Honestly, I’m glad Noelle was written out of the story, but Desiree could’ve taken Joy and Jade with her because they were such wasted characters.
Jordyn and Elijah’s character development, though? I loved it. Watching them grow together throughout the series was so heartwarming and probably one of my favorite parts. Ontrell had me feeling all kinds of emotions. He was clearly going through an identity crisis, and meeting Willow truly saved him. Their love felt so real and raw, unlike Amari and Shiloh, whose relationship seemed super forced. It just didn’t give genuine vibes.
The only couples that truly felt authentic to me were Willow and Ontrell, Olivia and Andrew, Jordyn and Elijah, and Toni and Talin. Finding out about the “new Carters” was definitely a plot twist. I appreciated how the brothers welcomed them with open arms, even though CJ was hesitant at first.
The Carter family as a whole? A hot mess. Their issues ran so deep it was no wonder the drama spiraled out of control. The parents failed those boys terribly, and the family dynamics were beyond repair. Still, that dysfunction is what made the series so relatable at times. Everyone knows someone with a family like that—where no matter how hard you try to get it right, the trauma and secrets run too deep to fix.
Overall, this series gets 10s across the board from me! It was a rollercoaster with so much to unpack, but it kept me hooked from beginning to end.
This book was soooo soooo good! The “NO WAY” moments got me. SPOILER SPOILER ALERT…
I didn’t like Shiloh raping that girl. That was my guy man! And i didn’t like how Amari had no clue why Shiloh was close to Anthony’s daughter. She never found out. That book was a lot but I enjoyed it.
845 pages of pure entertainment. These characters were a whole mess and took me through every emotion possible. I was disgusted, happy, sad, disappointed, angry, and just emotionally drained. Some behaviors I expected from certain people, but Toni? She really pissed me off.
I am glad the family finally let go of the secrets, but whew… the trauma runs deep. As far as my favorite Carter girls, Willow, Azura, and Jordyn are my girls, and I ended up growing to love Olivia by the end lol. I also liked Amari with her hot-tempered self. The rest of the girls, I’m still on the fence.
On to read my next Desiree book, cause yall know I don't play about her!
btw I cannot stand Noelle. I don't think there's any coming back
Good Book, Like The Rest. Still Lots of Errors, Though.
Like the rest of the Carter books, this one was really good.
There were some things that were never spoken on that I would’ve liked to be addressed, such as the picture under the bathroom stall that Amari’s friend took when Amari noticed two pairs of men’s shoes. I felt like it was Anthony, but I never got clarification.
I’m glad that there was less Olivia in this book because she’s really annoying to me sometimes, lol.
The Trent + Levii storyline was super pointless, like the author could’ve kept that. For real. He did all that chasing her, only to break up with her because he was going through family issues. That was a valid reason, but I don’t like that he flipped the switch and made it seem like it was because Levii was closed off. Could’ve done without it.
I hate how everyone in this story falls in love sooo quickly and I hate how the women get dogged out and disrespected (except Willow), only to go RIGHT BACK to the guy. The way Anthony did Joy at the club after they slept together the first time? Oh, no baby.
The evolution of Shiloh’s character was another thing I hated. I like him w/Amari, but I liked him better when he was quiet. He was my favorite at one point, but he eventually started doing too much.
As far as the errors, it’s pretty much still the same ones from the other books. Grammatical, punctuation, spelling, inconsistency, etc.
Elijah went from being called “Jodie” to “Jody” and from “JaJa” (by Jordyn) to “Jah Jah.”
The constant misuse of the word CURVE when referring to the parking of cars when it should be CURB. I’ve never heard anyone call it a CURVE. So, that was annoying. 🙄
From old cordless phone ringing to “swiped to answer.” How do you swiped to answer a cordless phone?
Constantly used in the story:
Bright hazel eyes (like we get it, lol). EYES LOW, EYES WIDE, EYES GREW WIDE. Smiled SOFTLY, laughed SOFTLY, muttered SOFTLY, said SOFTLY. Please find more descriptive words to use. It got to a point where I started counting how many times I read “eyes wide” or “softly” on a single page.
Loved this book. Shiloh is my favorite character but I love Olivia and Andrew’s relationship from beginning to end.
My favorite part with Shiloh was after his birthday, when he was so drunk or high and seeing spaceships: “Aye? Aye? Aye? You hear me? Ay--.” “What Shiloh?” I laughed, glancing back at him. “You got a man?” He asked, voice dropping an octave, hearing him lick his lips obnoxiously loud. I couldn’t look at him without laughing so I kept my focus on the road. Almost to his place. “I do---.” “I’on give a fuck. I’d still tear that ass up,” cutting in. “I got a girl already, but I swear on everything shawty? If I wasn’t with her, I would---.” “You would what Shiloh?” Dull voice, trying my hardest to keep it together. He was violent, horny, and goofy all in one night from his drunkenness. “I would lick yo body light skin girl, and fuck you back dark. Try me,” he said as my mouth dropped. “Just like aahhhh laalalalalalaaal laaa,” tongue flapping out, trying to lick his own hand as I smacked it away from his mouth. Hearing him laugh to himself.
Listennnnn!!let me tell you.this book right here is the truth.shoot ..this SERIES is the ttuth!!!..i dont think ive eva been so attached to characters, especially just reading about them...Aye SHILO is my dawg shawty!!!that dude say what you want but ....yaaaaas...desiree YOU ARE THE SHIZ!!!!!!!!!!!💓💓💓
Whew!! Secrets and lies, deception by omission. Life as a shorty shouldn't be so tough (or whatever the Inspectah said). Looking behind the scenes of the Carter family exposes the reality of how the men of the family roll. The women are tasked with making tough choices about Dem Carter Boys.
Loved the whole series. I am still wondering about CJ & Hazels Mom.. Tiffany is Dead I am guessing because was just left open..Jeremy must be dead also..that is a bit Griney though on Andrews part of he let that happen at his house..he could've just raised JJ and made Jeremy get on..
I thoroughly enjoyed this entire series and now that I'm finished, I'm going to miss all the characters :( Mad that I didn't discover this sooner. A few comments (spoilers ahead):
- My favorite out of all of the brothers is Trent. I feel like we've all encountered a Trent in our lives, so reading his point of view was interesting. I just didn't receive FULL closure from Trent. I don't think he was humbled enough and there was really no awareness of his actions at all when it came to how he treated women. There wasn't a trivial moment where he really sat down and thought about the way he acted in his past relationships. That's why I found it unrealistic that he miraculously decided to change his ways when meeting Azura (I know the events of what happened in his family initiated this change, but still..). Also, I thought Trent wanted to be a lawyer? Professor? What happened with that? Lots of unanswered questions with him. - I was SO disappointed by how the author did my girl Jhade! She was such a complex character in The Carter Boys but in this book, she was beyond unlikable. I feel like there were so many layers to Jhade that could've been explored but I understand that that wouldn't have contributed much to the overall story. Kinda upset that she didn't have a happy ending. - I didn't care for Willow or Joy! I know reading all POV's are important because they contribute to the overall story but I just didn't care for them and found myself skimming through their chapters lol.
Love, love, LOVED reading the entirety of this series despite the toxicity that I tried my best to look past lol. This will definitely be a reread of mine.
I'm guessing is that image on THIS PARTICULAR COVER suppose to be JADE OR AMARI? IT HAS THE DESCRIPTION OF BOTH WOMEN, BUT JADE HAD DREADS/LOCKS& THE CHICK ON THE IMAGE ..UH...DON'T SPORT DREADSOR LOCKS WITH BLONDE TIPS. I don't know. All I know is in this installment we/readers learn ALOT about our favorite SHILOH CAMERON CARTER, as well as the ENTIRE CARTER FAM & LIKE WE GATHERED IT AIN'T NOTHIN' NICE. I STILL LOVE THE CHARACTER OF SHILOH, but there were some VERY CONCERNING PARTS THAT HE PARTICIPATED IN THAT CAUSED ME TO QUESTION MY ADMIRATION FOR THE CHARACTER. You know, from Book 2 of THE RETURN OF THE CARTER BOYS( or, was it BOOK 1 THE CARTER BOYS?) I NOTICED HOW CLOSE SHILOH SEEMED TO HIS 'NIECE' THEY LOVINGLY CALLED "BABY GIRL". SO MUCH SO THAT IT MADE ME QUESTION IF THAT WAS HIS DAUGHTER. When you think about it, I don't ever remember SHILOH referring to the little girl as his niece/even though she was written as brother ANTHONY'S DAUGHTER & she referred to SHILOH AS 'UNCLE SHILOH' in the car when he was taking her & her brothers out to eat with him & Noelle then to his brother ANTHONY's house. I HOPE MS. GRANGER WILL ALLOW THE CARTER GIRLS SERIES TO BE RELEASED IN PHYSICAL COPIES so THAT I CAN FINALLY GET THEM FOR MY OWN PERSONAL COLLECTION!
This book was all over the place. The characters are so layered with so much left to understand. Shiloh is still a mystery along with CJ & Montana. It like they have a shady side. Trent is growing up but still lost & Anthony is still confused. Talin & Ontrell didn’t have enough details to understand fully. What happened with Tyree? Elijah made me proud. Jaheim don’t know what he wants. All of the guys have qualities that worry me. Big fan of Andrew. The women came into their own. I don’t feel bad for Joy cause she was in everyone’s business. Don’t feel bad for Noelle either. Not a fan of Toni. Olivia and Hazel annoyed me. Willow needs to grow a lot. Precious can’t be trusted. Jordyn made me proud. Tia grew up. Azura’s reason for not wanting to be in a relationship showed her level of maturity. Levii and Shiloh relationship is still weird. Amari with her “temper” sure made a lot of excuses for everyone and let a lot of disrespect slide. Some of the chapters were too long and could’ve been removed.
Noelle - fake church going phony Toni - fake, never liked him/her. Joy - felt bad she caught something but she still fake Tia - fake Oliva- fake .. father did something traumatic and you still love him like he didn’t. He’s the one started the domino effect because of his trauma Jordyn - crazy for staying with Elijah even though I like them together still stupid. She just as slow as him to me. Talin - keeps his distance which i like the boundaries he’s created but i still find him weird.. maybe because idk anything about him enough. I like Azuri & I like Amari but i don’t like how she was portrayed as mentally ill. I also want her to know the whole story about Shiloh and see how she handles it. Tana - fake and about to break Hazel down Tyree - what happened to him ? Levi and Shiloh ? Mystery in itself because why was he calling her name like that in his sleep Is Jeremy dead ? The carters storyline ? Crazzzzyyyyy. Some parts I felt like wasn’t needed and/or had me not liking any of the characters. A lot of stuff went unanswered ..

OMG!!! This book was soooooo GOOD! I did not want to put it down and it was hella long! I kept goi g back and referencing the Carter Boys because I didn’t remember Amari and I didn’t remember Elijah raping Jordyn but maybe that was never mentioned….. anyhow I can already tell Montana is going to be a mess. And Shiloh, I started out loving him in the Carter Boys and now, ugh I cannot believe him. That dude is the spawn of satan and I wonder is Amari going to find out what’s up with him? Because he’s trying to hard to cover his mess up. Something ain’t right about Azura either. Im sure it’s coming but for now I’ll just keep reading. Anthony was terrible. Heck all of the brothers were except Ontrell. It’s funny because I know this is a story, but I know a family kind of like this and everyone wants to be attached to them the same way even though they are all the way messed up! Drugs, prostitution, self hate, generational curses… Desiree your mind is a wonderland! BRAVO!
No way you made me cry in this one! All I'm going to say is I kept whispering "Shiloh, noooo, don't do it!" (But I understand that his mental was desensitized to being so brutal) He's a wild card, maybe the wildest of everyone! Who I was not expecting to like was Montana. Levi, something about her and Shiloh have me on edge, but I'm leaving it alone. Amari, I still love you girl, I was getting mad for a minute, but she grew her backbone. Willow, I like you girl! Ontrell, you are me 2nd favorite Carter boy. (I'll tell my #1 soon). Hazel grew on me. Olivia, I love her down. Joy, good riddance. Jade, I screamed at her outro, my child was like "Why are you laughing so hard at the book?" Jordyn with the Y, I love her. Elijah, you won me back over (and I wanted to know what happened in that room!!) Trent is my #1, IDC, lol it's something about his emotional, toxic, pretty boy self that I just love! Azura has my favorite energy! 10/10 series!
These women know they had their hands full with these Carter men. If it wasn't one thing it was another. I like that there was growth in Jordyn and Olivia. Especially Olivia because I hated her but Andrew's love made her grow into a better woman. Amari I just Amari.and I love her but if she ever finds out about Shiloh and his secrets Lord help us all. I have nothing to say about Tia and Toni. Willow she is just what Ontrell needs. Not good riddens. Hazel is head over hills for the wrong one. Montana is up to something. Levi is just a cool chick. I really need to see when Amari pop these twins out. Azura gave Trent a taste of his own Medicine and boy did he overdose on her. Overall great sequel.
Ok all my favs came back and better. Elijah and Jordyn have grown so much that they’ve became my favs I’m so proud of Elijah. That Carter family is trash tho lol. Between Anthony and Shiloh idk who the worst big brother. More secrets are being revealed by this family and really blew my mind because when I thought the family was sick they’re really disgusting. The mothers are in deeper than the kids and that says a lot. The wives and girlfriends need a book without drama but their men is tainted beyond measures so they’re afflicted to drama. I really enjoyed part 2 way better than part 1 but she definitely need an editor.
Ok so if you haven’t read For the of ATL & the Carter Boys, stop and go back!
This book had all the triggers. So if you are easily offended, triggered by previous experiences, this may not, NO this is NOT the book for you. Any and every abuse is covered in this book.
With all that said…damn! I could not stop reading it. No one is safe from doing F-ish, these men are trash 90% of the time; but that 10% softens the heart!
I’ll say this again, this is some toxic mess! But I couldn’t put it down.
The grammar/editing can be somewhat distracting in some parts. Thank goodness the storyline was good.
The Carter Girls perfectly depicted 3 things in my opinion:
1) Hurt people hurt people 2) Life isn’t always neat, with guaranteed happy endings and 3) The moral discussion of if someone’s past can stop them from being viewed as a good person, despite doing good things at the present time
Trauma, twists and turns are galore in this book. The story of the Carter’s was raw, to the point that I can say I still do not like the Carter family as a whole 😂 but I was invested the entire time!
If Amari ever find out about Shiloh's past I wonder would she leave him? I think he should have layed everything out on the table because her brothers know the things he's capable of. I gotta feeling Montana gonna tear Hazel's heart to shreads but her twin ain't gonna just stand by and watch. I can say I'm most proud of Olivia because she has really matured and I love the new her. I done started on this journey so I guess ain't no stopping now.💞💞
Betrayal, Mistrust, Sex, and Heartbreak among Family
Man, this is my third installment of this series and I’m left in just utter shock at everything that has been thrown to and at this family. Great characters and very relatable topics for our community and relationships that need healing and redemption.
I've read a lot of books and have my favorite authors. The Carter Boys was my first from this author, which made me read the other two. Hands down my favorite series. However this one!!! I couldn't tell you a "good" part. The whole thing is relatable, real and had me real life LOL sometimes. I didnt want it to end.
These books was amazing. I want ever forget Carter Girls or Carter Boys. But this book was well written always took you on an adventurous ride til the end. I want give any or it away. But I will say please read the stories you will be so amazed and so very fulfilled. I hate it had to end. Enjoy everyone.
The Carter Girls is a gripping, fast-paced story about sisterhood, growing up, and navigating messy love and family dynamics. Desiree Granger creates characters that feel real—flawed, emotional, and deeply relatable. The blend of drama, humor, and heart keeps you hooked from start to finish. If you enjoy urban fiction with strong characters and authentic emotion, this is a must-read.
Carter Girl 2 officially moved Desiree to my top author list. Her storytellin was Made for TV. The way she builds her world and pulls you straight into Atlanta is unreal. I’m genuinely going to miss these characters, and even though I can’t wait to keep reading her work, I’m lowkey sad my Carter era is over.
A beast with the pen honey ! A beast!!!!! The way you tell the stories. The dialogue , omg just brilliant. Straight ATL spas opera show. Sadden about events that took place, laughed, got angry, and cheered on my fav couples. Welp on to NATS
Omg this book is so entertaining, I can see myself going to reading it at least 5 times, my favorite characters are Amari, Shiloh, Olivia, Andrew, Willow, Ontrell, Azura and Levii.
No other way to describe this series by Desiree I have fallen in love with these characters and can’t wait to see where she takes them next and who pops up. A definitely needed prospective of a true hood family and how they move
This is a good series! Although I’m glad that she’d decided to switch it up a bit, at this point some of the characters were a bit nerves wrecking..However on to the next one!
