Seven alien wolf shifters trapped in our dimension find each other and form a pack. They think their biggest problem is the absence of females, right up until they become the focus of a gentlemen's hunting club.
The first coming of chaos. Twelve thousand years ago, members of a more advanced race crossed into our dimension when the barriers temporarily collapsed. Trapped in our world, the aliens, who were also shifters, built structures that eventually caused the great flood and the sinking of Atlantis. Some of the alien DNA survived in progeny that carried an untraceable shifter gene, dormant until awakened by mating with a full blooded werewolf.

Page turner Excitement... Please read the prologue, it does help with the rest of the book. Right from the beginning I was engaged, definitely a page turner. This book took me to some new places. It is very different from Victoria Danann's other series. Yet It is so her in that it has great story telling and world building. Nick is one of the 7 that shifted to a new dimension. When he got a good sniff of Reese, he was hooked. The story that ensues is compelling and scary. Then a very rich big game hunter sets his sights on these shifters. Please if you are looking for a great paranormal story grab this book right away and start reading. Waiting with anticipation for the next book. From a Forever Fan... Pam James
What a great book. You really should read the prologue, so you understand where this wolf pack comes from. Very different twist from any other werewolf book I've read, but this is Victoria Danann! She always delivers exciting, and dramatic story lines.
Stalk made me laugh, and just filled my heart with joy and fear at times. The story delivers suspense, action and mystery. I highly recommend this book. Wonderful story and a great concept on how the werewolves arrived.
This is the first book of the Hotblooded series. Will each Pack member find love and happiness in this new world? I can't wait to see what happens in the upcoming books.
**** Make sure to read the Prologue******* This book had be right from the start! I never wanted to put it down. I love the inter-dimensional travel that happens right from the start. These two are made for each other! I cannot believe how it ended. I know that I will be reading the second book in this series. Victoria always catches my interest in all her books but this book surprised me in so many good ways. It was so HOT that I NEED the next book. I NEED MORE of this "PACK". I can't believe the twist and turns that keeps you on the edge of your seat. LOVED this book!
What an interesting concept, and one I'm not surprised came from this author's very interesting mind.
This is the first in a new series by Victoria Danann and I look forward to seeing where things are going to go. The world-building and attention to detail really pulled me in and kept me turning the page to see where this story was going to go. And WOW, I wasn't expecting that ending!
Great story as always! Cant wait for the next one! Love how he keeps reminding her how werewolves mate forever. How nice that must be. To know you never have to worry about the person you love getting tired of you and wanting something new.
I’m torn up over this story. It’s a unique twist on where werewolves come from and how they adjust to their strange new home. After a bit of history and back story it wanders into the strange, as in stalking strange. Then it goes to hot, and I mean haaaawwwt. There’s love, acceptance and hunters (I just hate these hunters). Be prepared for frustration and the inevitable wait for the next book in the series. I love you Victoria, but you’re killing me here.
Stalk by Victoria Danann is book one in her brand new series, Hotblooded.
Welcome to a fantastic world of aliens, pnr werewolves, shifters and more. Stalk is the story of one of seven shifters, stranded in a strange world. They formed a pack, L&F Pack, but they're lacking females. Nick is one of the seven and when he finds a enticing smelling female he can't let her get away. Reese Braga is a young woman with a boring job and no clue what she is. She meets Nick and they have this crazy insta chemistry and connection. But enemies are about to show up on their doorstep and things are about to get lethal. Stalk is a extremely well written, beautifully thought out and beautifully told story and I can't get enough of the author's writing. The story ends in kind of a cliffie and I can't wait to read the next book in the series. I give 4,5 hot stars.
Oh my what a read! Nick is one of six wolf's that slipped through when the vail was thin and they made a home for themselves. Nick meets Reese and knows he feels something ...as does she. One night something happens and Nick is the happiest of all of them. But things are not as smooth as they thought. Victoria Danann has done it again! She puts the words on the pages and brings us another awesome story. We sink into the pages and enjoy the ride. Another great adventure!
Victoria never disappoints. The ending is a cliff hanger and how long to the next book?? :-( So if you want to be wooed and scared and left hanging....be sure to read this book, then hang in there for the sequel!!
Romance, adventure, and danger are all throughout this amazing book! This story is riveting, I could not for the life of me out it down until finished. Nick and Reese are such well developed characters, and the plot is out of the world fantastic!
The first book in the new Hot Blooded series is an intriguing concept with some fascinating elements that draws readers in. The characters are strong and the whole alien wolf shifters on Earth concept gives a different spin on shifter romances. This of course can be quite fascinating while the romance is sweet and passionate with a bit of a strange twist on the first meeting between the two which causes a rocky start. Since the pack’s biggest problem was the absence of females finding a female is quite exciting to the pack and readers can’t help but pick up on the emotions that flow from the pages. The pace is steady to fast paced and even thought the flow seems a bit choppy, the story easily keeps readers’ attentions as the pack become the focus of a gentlemen’s hunting club, which adds thrilling danger and suspense to the story. The book is intense with some surprising twists but also has a bit of a light hearted feel at the same time. Readers should definitely read the prologue for better understanding of where these alien wolf shifters come from which is really an unexpected and fanciful element that will keep readers coming back for more.
A wonderful new series by Victoria Danann. That is such exciting news. And what a great start to the series. I couldn't put it down. I had to know what happened next.
As we can expect from Victoria Danann, there is great world building . Her characters are fascinating and complex. I love spending time with them and it's so easy to care about them.
This story is about a group of shifters from another realm who are trying to survive on earth among humans. The central characters are a shifter named Nick and Reese, the woman who catches his attention. Their courtship and love is so compelling. I especially like Reese, who is so full of surprises. I kept cheering for her. She is strong, adaptable, and amazing.
The danger that faces them is very real. I really hated the villains. This does end on a cliff hanger of sorts. Even if it didn't, I would be eager to read the next one. Write faster, Victoria.
When I finished reading the prologue, I commented to a friend that I could write a review on Stalk at that time. When I was about 25% through the book, I “knew” how this one was going to end.
When I was at the final part of Stalk I was reminded – This is a Victoria Danann book! Whatever you thought you knew was wrong. She does not do “predictable” books.
So now about the book – It is about werewolves, sort of. It is about the thrill of the hunt, maybe. It is about a story to be told in coming books and if Stalk is any indication, it will be two things: 1-Unpredictable (in a good way) until the final book is written. 2-One of the top series of books the author has written and if you’re a fan of Victoria Danann, you know that is saying a lot. Me? I am glad I jumped in on book #1 because I would hate to miss this journey. You just get in now, it looks to be quite a trip! Why isn’t there a 5-star-plus rating for books like this?
I did like this book. I love this author. I am familiar with her world building and interdemensional travel. I love werewolf stories. This one was just a bit chinky for me. Rough to get into and then really great near the end and things come to a head. I don't know what would have made this better but may just a few more words?? Something to tie the POV together better and maybe more explanation about the time and place they are living.
As I said, I did like the story. It is unique and fresh. Lots of action and some very bad guys hanging around out there. It opens up a series and there is not necessarily and HEA. It reads more like a serial story.
Give it a shot. Maybe things will get better as the story goes on. It's worth reading the next book.
Wow, what a fun read. I have a new hero. Reese is awesome! This is why I love to read books in Victoria's world. They are entertaining and easy to fall into. You are left wishing you knew the characters as friends in the real world.
You will find yourself turning the pages as you discover Victoria Danann’s introduction to a “new normal” in the world of werewolves. The characters in this “pack” will delight you and leave you wanting more. I really enjoyed Reese and Nick’s story and can’t wait to read more about this interesting group.
As always, another amazing read that kept me raptured and wanting even more. Out of all the 6 men, Grey is slowly becoming my favorite with his gruff attitude and take charge, burly, alpha demeanor. There is one human that grates on my nerves and makes me want to box him in the nose. Seriously can't get enough of this series and this is only the first book.
Stalk is the first in a new series by Victoria Danann, and she has not let us down. I will admit that I had to read the Foreword & Prologue twice, as I was a bit confused, but once I got into the main body of the story it all clicked into place, and I could not put it down. Stalk has everything I love in a Ms.Danann story, it is funny & sexy and has interesting & loveable characters (who doesn’t love a drop-dead sexy Wolf Shifter?) There are also a few characters that aren’t so loveable. This is a total page turner of a book which leaves you wanting MORE, so I cannot wait for book 2 to come out.
What an incredible book to start a new series. As always with Victoria Dannan’s books I couldn’t put it down. A really interesting twist to the werewolf mythology. I can’t wait to read the next one. The introduction at the start of the book was a great way to lead you into the story. The characters were all very likeable and engaging and the storyline new and original. Also, a brilliant, strong female character. Another five star review.
Reese and Nick have powerful chemistry. She shows strength and intelligence when it is needed most. Nick teaches her about pack and his community. She has surprises of her own. There’s humor, romance and intrigue. The antagonists are plentiful and evil. This book has lots of possibilities for sequels as readers learn more about the other shifters. I’m excited to find out what happens next.
This is a new and fantastic werewolf series by Victoria Danann. You will lose yourself and feel part of this riveting storyline that will not let you go! Be forewarned, when you get to the end you will say, NOOOOO! I can’t wait for the next book!
Victoria's knocks it out of the park with the start of this new series.. Paranormal shifters are my new go to reads.. And Victoria never disappoints. Could not put this one down..Can't wait for the next!
I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to see what happens I loved the characters and how they developed during the story. The twist in this book make the pages fly by and can’t wait to see what happens next!!!
I loved the introduction to this book. The ideas in the foreword were really interesting. Almost a combination of sci-fi (which I enjoy though not a massive fan) and urban fantasy elements. But then the story started and, whilst I could understand why the author had written the foreword, it felt as though the main story was an entirely different book, written by a completely different person. It was a lot more simplistic. Most of the concepts raised in the foreword were never discussed again. Somewhat disappointing as the potential for a really interesting series was high. The story itself: the characters were decent; typical urban fantasy (plucky heroine, dark mysterious love interest, modern setting, romance etc etc). I enjoyed the tweaks away from a typical werewolf novel. Enough in there of interest to keep me going. Complete escapism from the real world, when you need to switch your mind off (or maybe that’s just me). What was most disappointing though was that it was so short. Either it wasn’t described as one, or if it was I must have missed it, but it was definitely more of a novella. I thought it came to a conclusion far too quickly. I didn’t feel as though there were any subplots going on, and certainly no points when you felt the books was about to finish, but then a twist kept it going (if you know what I mean). The book reached a climax (which also happened to be pretty quick and easily handled), resolved the plot, and finished. Job done. Yes, interesting start. Massive potential, with more references based around the original concepts in the foreword. Certainly not disappointed I read it, and would probably look at more of Victoria Danaan’s work. But I’ll look at the length of the book too, before I commit to buying.
It is absolutely ridiculous how long it took me to finish this book, and it's not because of the length or the complexity, it's just that abysmal. I can confidently say, this one tested my endurance the most out of all the books I have read this year.
Reasons why this book didn't work for me: - The cold detached writing. I just can't get over the fact that everything read so bland and unfeeling, like someone is giving a summary of events rather than telling me a story. There is absolutely no way to feel involved in this (barely there)world. - Aliens, this book tries to be "different" by making the wolves as aliens. This angle is useless, remove it and nothing will be affected because the SCI-FI element is just not there. Wolves will be hunted whether they are aliens or not, they can having female problems whether they are aliens or not! It added nothing to the story, what a perfectly good element wasted. - Characters. I find more personality in a 30 seconds commercial's characters than what I found in this whole book. I can forget the pack members or the bad dudes but at least the main characters of Nick and Reese should have something. -I should correct myself, Nick had something. He was a fucking creep. That's right, the hero is a fucking creep. Apparently this stalking thing was no big deal to anyyy of the previous reviews posted till now. It's not even like the author uses commonly unromantic situation of stalking cleverly or it's a dark romance book that can use this scenario crudely in-your-face manner, it's the most low effort way to make the characters meet and ruins Nick with the creepy ass behaviour and words. Sure the book is called Stalk but where's that in the blurb??
Overall, this book has nothing going on for it. There are no characters, no world building despite the alien wolves, no unique twists or turns with bad guys, no romance with their awkward conversations and absence of any chemistry and even a glossed over end fight. I don't know what book the other reviewers are raving about but this ain't it chief.
Stalk actually contains Stalk, the first book in a new werewolf romance series, and a contemporary romance called A Season in Gemini, a novella introducing the Sons of Sanctuary MC series. They were each quick romance stories.
Stalk's prologue sets up an interesting scenario, where some were creatures, one hyena and various types of wolves, had each accidentally ended up in our world when the walls between dimensions became thin. They couldn't get home. Lots of people from our world disappeared at the same time and newspapers helpfully listed the missing. Those stuck in our world took the identities of reclusive men of means. They eventually found one another and formed a pack. Unfortunately, they didn't find any were females. However, unbeknownst to them, a similar event thousands of years ago left some latent werewolf genes in the human population.
The set up here had such potential, but the plot was similar to some other werewolf romance stories. There are also a couple of plot holes. The ending was a bit of a cliffhanger, as well, and the story seemed rather short. I would probably read the next one though.
The Sons of Anarchy MC story was about a rich girl having a summer romance with a biker/mechanic dude. Dude falls for her bad. She has a very controlling father, who made her come with him for the summer, because she partied too hard after college graduation and a photo of her ended up in the newspaper, embarrassing the family, i.e., him. It was an ok romance. I didn't like the ending/set up for the Sons of Anarchy MC series, so I probably won't read that series.
