Grace/Truth 2.0 is an additional five-week learning experience (follows Grace/Truth 1.0) that dives deeper into LGBT+ questions. It discusses why some Christians are changing their view toward affirming same-sex relations, addresses some of the strongest affirming arguments, explores a biblical and theological view of transgender and intersex persons, and offers practical advice on how to embody the grace/truth way of Jesus in the context of ministry. Conversation 6: Us vs. Us Conversation 7: Shouldn’t Christians Just Love Everyone? And Other Questions... Conversation 8: Sex, Gender, and the Bible Conversation 9: A Grace/Truth Response to the Gender Conversation Conversation 10: LGBT+ Inclusion in the Church
Preston Sprinkle (PhD, Aberdeen) is a teacher, speaker, and New York Times bestselling author. He has written several books including People to Be Loved, Living in a Gray World, Charis, and Erasing Hell, which he co-authored with Francis Chan. He and his family live in Boise, Idaho, and he currently helps pastors and leaders engage the LGBTQ conversation with thoughtfulness and grace.
This is a the second five-part guide for Christian groups regarding faith, sexuality and gender. This is written with kindness and love for Christians of various persuasions about inclusiveness of those who are LGBTQ+ and those who are affirming them in church membership and activity.
Sprinkle makes his own conservative position clear, but his writing is about as kind and thoughtful as any I have read who hold the same position. He explains the affirming Biblical arguments with kindness and invites open discussion by the church of Christ.
Grace //Truth 1.0 is Sprinkle's initial five part discussion of the topic, with Biblical references and always with pleas for believers to treat all people lovingly as God's own children regardless of their positions on inclusiveness in church participation and membership.
This book is meant to go with 1.0 and also with a video series and a group discussion. Loved the series. Christianity has failed LGBTQ+ people in welcoming and loving them well. This book helped open my eyes to places where I can do better at showing grace to people who sin differently than me. Highly recommend the video/book/group sessions.
