Stealing her was wrong. Knocking her up was worse. MORTAR
I took her as a prize. One more trophy in my possession. But Kendra was made to be handled, not just looked at. She’s got a body that men would die for. But unless she accepts my offer of protection, she’s gonna be the one dying.
Because her abusive ex-fiance is determined to claw her back. Just so he can beat her senseless one more time. Nothing makes me madder than a man laying his hands on a defenseless woman.
If this son of a b!tch comes for Kendra, he’s gonna feel my wrath.
But I don’t do anything for free. And if she wants to stay safe under my guard, she’ll have to give me something. Something I’ve wanted for a while now. Something only she can provide.
Something like… A baby.
KENDRA
I didn’t have a choice.
It was either face another night being beaten by my beast of a fiancé… Or take the biker’s outstretched hand and ride off for God only knows what kind of fate.
I took Mortar’s offer. But even then, I had no idea what I was getting into.
The bad boy is like no one else I’ve ever met. He’s dark and brooding. Cocky and confident. He puts his hands on me like he owns me…
And I don’t do a thing to stop him.
But the terms of his protection are steep. I need him in my life…
And that means falling to my knees and letting Mortar put his baby inside me.
MORTAR is a full-length, standalone, super steamy, bad boy motorcycle club romance novel from bestselling author APRIL LUST.
This suspenseful, action-packed MC romance is intended for mature audiences, due to violence, strong language, dark themes and elements, and explicit intimate scenes. The romance between the alpha male bad boy and the fiery woman he can't resist ends with a guaranteed happily ever after (HEA) ending, has absolutely NO CHEATING, and does NOT include a cliffhanger of any kind.
This wasn’t a great read if I’m being honest. The idea for the story was good but could have been executed a lot better.
The worse part of the book is the heroine, Kendra. I really didn’t like her. I absolutely get that you don’t have to like the main characters of the book but they have to have some redeeming characteristics, something that makes you want to root for them. I also get that when we pick up a book like this we are expecting an in-depth character review. And that’s not what we read them for. However I found her pathetic, self centred and shallow. For instance I don’t think you’d be worried about anything you own, no matter the sentimental value, when the people you love are endanger of getting murdered.
This is the first book by the author, so I’m going to give another of hers ago see if it’s any better.
I voluntarily read this as an ARC in return for a review. This was a very good read. I was so happy when Kendra decided to leave Freeman. Mortar was her knight and shining armor. They ended up with the family they both deserved plus more. Freeman deserves worse than what he got. I definitely recommend this book.
This book was all around okay. I can only give it three stars though. It was just a bit dry sometimes in my opinion. It was also extremely far fetched. I mean really?. Also the characters were just not well developed. The action scenes at the end were by far the best part of the whole book.
Mortar by April Lust Another great read and I found myself totally immersed in the action, enjoyed this story. "I received an advanced copy of this manuscript and am voluntarily leaving an honest review."
Full disclosure i couldn't get past chapter five. Many love this book, so the rest must be great. That's why I save it three. i could not go on. The heroine annoyed me.
I liked Mortar's character but he was the worst protector ever. He talked a good game but dropped the ball numerous times. It was kind of funny actually. He was a likeable boob.
dnf at 21%. bored, insta love again, same old thing, fmc drove me insane, mc didnt do much better. it was all too much and yet not enough. when it becomes a chore to read a book then you know you have to stop, there's too many books out there to read!
This was absolutely awesome! I got pulled in from the very beginning. There is suspense and excitement along with chemistry and fire 🔥. I received this book as an ARC copy for a voluntarily honest review.
