For Love of Magic

Rate this book
A different upbringing leaves Harry Potter with an early knowledge of magic and a view towards the Wizarding World not as an escape from the Dursleys, but as an opportunity to learn more about it. Unfortunately, he quickly finds that there are many elements in this new world that are unwilling to leave the Boy-Who-Lived alone.

I had to think a bit about the rating for this book. I would give it a 3,5 stars.

The author clearly has a talent for writing. It's very entertainingly written and an easy read. I really like how some of the concepts around magic are taking further. And there are several very fun story lines.

For me personally there are way to many -repetitive - sex scenes in the story. Some of it is fitting the story and even building some of the plot. A lot of times it just simply becomes porn for the sake of porn. I also found the story to become discombobulated towards the end. And especially the last chapters contain a lot of unnecessary racism.

But if you are able to just pass those things, it's a very entertaining read and fun alternative view om the world of Harry Potter.

This book offers simple things, sex and entertainment, I have a lot of issues with the political and moral views of the autor, but I cannot say other thing that this book does what the vast mayority of self published works not, It entertains you and dosen't loose your attention, only if you are like me and your particulary delights are reading a lot of sex and contrasting views of different topics.

An excellent piece of fanfiction, though the author is heavily opinionated. It manages to create a more fleshed out world than your typical fanfiction with details on how magic is performed that make it seem legitimate. Another large point in its favor is the lack of arbitrary limiters placed upon magic that many other writers fall back upon — magic can do anything if the user takes the time to figure out how.

Read 43 chapters then it disappeared from fanfic.net

I rated the authors take on the Potter universe. Magical Britain really does have a lot of flaws that get cleverly exploited by Harry but by the bit I reached the endpoint was fairly obvious and I was starting to get tired of the sex. Some sex is fine by me and he writes well but I needed the plot to move a bit faster.

Getting through this was a bit of a grind - lots of sex, and much of it quite repetitive. The story itself was kinda interesting, although the ending was a bit of a shame given how long the rest of the thing was.

Haven't seen Harry give an interview to the Muggle media sinse Febuary 2003, so that was neat.

Loved it..... Though I'd suggest you to check out 'reaching for a dream' first.

I find it hard to rate and review this fic. I actually had to take a while before deciding. On the one hand I find myself hard-pressed to support and promote it because it had many things I did not like and many things that made me wanna punch someone. I quite disagree with a lot of the opinions it expresses and found it racist and insulting.

On the other hand, however, I found that, for a fic, it was extremely well written, and the plot and characters were well thought out and developed. Even though I'm not much for dark-Harry fics, I couldn't put it down. And even though I didn't like the views it expressed I thought that they fit well with the world and characters the author was portraying. I also found it very interesting to read. I thought its approach to the whole magic world and to magic itself was interesting, and very original.

Overall, despite its many many questionable (to say the list) points, the truth is that I binge read it, enjoyed it, and actually still remember it very well a couple months later, which is almost unprecedented for me.
