Hushmore High School seniors are at the final stretch. Prom and graduation are just around the corner, and the nervous excitement in the air is palpable. Yet, Kory Diffoten can’t afford the luxury of sharing the same giddy excitement as his classmates because he’s too stressed over Aunt Rudy. She’s the one person who can actually help him with the fiasco he’s caught up in, and she also happens to be stuck in a coma, albeit a self-induced one. Busy investigating in another realm, Aunt Rudy is attempting to solve the mystery surrounding the necklace once and for all. Unfortunately, to the uninformed eyes of her doctors, she appears to be at death’s door and if things don’t change soon, they will act accordingly.
Meanwhile, Kory is in the middle of adjusting to his new lifestyle, mending his friendship with Jakil, agonizing over prom, and trying to figure out whether he can put the trouble with Mr. Calsar behind him since the man has been missing-in-action. But when the threat looming over Kory spreads its reach through fellow Hushmore students, he is forced to accept that just because Mr. Calsar is out of sight doesn’t mean he can put Mr. Calsar out of mind. Like a master puppeteer, the lunatic former teacher is still pulling a lot of strings.
A final showdown is on the horizon once the whole sordid and tragic truth is brought to light. Kory just hopes he can keep himself and his friends safe long enough to make it to graduation, and beyond.
Lunatic is the third and final installation of the Lunacy series.
