Human beings love to create problems for themselves. I observe this on a daily basis, as do all my feline friends. They never stop, and one of their favorite tasks is to find more tasks to do. They are always looking for something, as if the life they have isn't enough. They say they are looking for happiness--but do they know what happiness is? We cats know the art of living. We eat when we're hungry, sleep when we're tired. Sitting for hours outside a mouse hole has taught us patience. Staring at an aquarium has brought us meditation. And we know how to please ourselves. Catfulness is a seven-week mindfulness program for human beings. If they can live their lives more like us, the world will be more serene. As Sigmund Freud said, "time spent with cats is never wasted".
Let's not rattle on and on about the delight of this book, shall we? I think you can decide for yourself whether this book is for you or not by reading over this simple list:
1. The title is Catfulness. 2. The subtitle is A Cat's Guide to Achieving Mindfulness. 3. The author is A Cat.
Cats are wise about Finding Contentment and The Meaning of Life, I think. You can't find a better guide to achieving mindfulness than this cat.
Not much to say here. It's a cute coffee table book to quickly pass some time. Loved the illustrations, and the advice isn't too shabby, but obviously don't go into this expecting something profound.
It's adorable, but is it worth your time? It is neat and it has an air of wholesomeness around it, but did it teach me how to nap all day in the sun, like a cat?
Yeah, it kinda did. But I'm not a cat. I'm a man. A man with a job.
In conclusion, cats are lazy bastards who should get a job already and stop mooching off me. 5/5
A delightful book that has some effective strategies to help you ground yourself and self-soothe when distressed or feeling low. I've started using this book with my students (with special needs) who have really enjoyed learning about the mental health strategies through a focus on animals.
For a reader who loves cats, this is a great book to read.
This was a gift from one of my staff when I changed jobs. It was a very quick and cute read with lots of friendly reminders about being in the present moment, centering yourself, learning how to say no, and slowing down. I will peruse through it again soon and mark the pages that stuck out to me.
It is not only adorable, but also gives a lot of tips on how to function better in daily life and relax. I picked up some tips from this one. Absolutely worth a read.
i'm counting this as a read book towards my books this year because 1Q84 is three books in one (literally). this was a wonderful flip through every morning for a month. :)
Catfulness was a gift from friends, which I found was surprisingly more entertaining than I anticipated. Some recognizable situations and “insights" combined with fun pictures.
