The second delightful rhyming tale about courage, compassion and a stylish little mouse, from acclaimed
fashion illustrator Megan Hess. It's Fashion Week in Paris and there is no way Claris is missing the show of her favourite designer! But when a fashion emergency occurs, will Claris and Monsieur be able to make it to the show in time to save the day?
The Claris series follows an adorable mouse who moves to Paris to follow her fashion dreams. Can Claris use all her wit, warmth and – of course – style to make her dreams come true?
An initial career in graphic design evolved into art direction for some of the world’s leading design agencies. In 2008 Hess illustrated the New York Times number one selling book Sex And The City - written by Candace Bushnell. She has since illustrated portraits for Vanity Fair and Time, created iconic accessories for Henri Bendel and illustrated the windows of Bergdorf Goodman in New York.
Hess’s signature style can also be found on her bespoke range of silk scarves, cushions and Limited Edition prints sold around the globe.
She has written and illustrated 3 best selling books: Fashion House, The Dress and Coco Chanel.
Her renowned clients include: Prada, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., Yves Saint Laurent, Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Fendi, Ladurée, Givenchy, Wedgwood, Salvatore Ferragamo, Michelle Obama, Cartier, Laduree, Montblanc, Balenciaga, Guerlain, Paspaley, Tag Heuer, and Disney.
That fashionable and kindhearted mouse Claris, whose adventures began in Claris: The Chicest Mouse in Paris, returns in this second picture-book. Happily settled in her new home, our murine heroine overhears the human woman in whose apartment she lives discussing attending Fashion Week. The coteur-obsessed mouse immediately wishes she could go as well, a wish that comes to fruition in unexpected ways when the lady of the house leaves behind her invitation to the show, and Claris and her friend Monsieur follow after her, in order to restore it...
Once again pairing a rhyming text with bright, colorful illustrations, Australian author/artist Megan Hess, who has worked with many top fashion brands worldwide, delivers a sweet little confection of a picture-book with Claris: Fashion Show Fiasco. Although I did find the text here awkward from time to time - the rhymes were sometimes a little forced - overall I thought this was an entertaining romp, one which emphasized the importance of kindness, even as it depicted an exciting cross-Paris adventure. Recommended to anyone who has read and enjoyed the first story about Claris, as well as to young children who are interested in fashion.
Claris and Monsieur Cat have to return a lost invitation to Fashion Week's greatest show. They go on an adventure across half of Paris to track down the fashionista who has lost their important invitation.
I loved the beautiful illustrations in this book! The colors are bright, and the lines are delicate. I did feel like some of the artwork is just cut and pasted from one page to the other with only a wardrobe change to make it different. I would have appreciated separate art for each page, instead of copies of the same facial expressions.
Sweet little Claris is adorable, and I love all her pretty clothes. She is the epitome of elegance and refinement, but with a heart of compassion and humility. She’s so cute!
The story kept my interest and made me laugh! The text is in rhyme, and it works pretty well. The rhymes aren’t always the best, but they are fine. The rhythm of each line doesn’t always exactly match, but it was okay. It’s not Milton or Shakespeare, but it does a good job of telling the story. (I have a pet peeve with children’s books being written in bad poetry, so I’m overly critical of this aspect of the writing. Other people would probably not notice it at all.)
This book is so adorable! I can’t wait to read more Claris books!

What a delightful book? Being a sucker for fashion, I was immediately in love with the story of Claris, the chicest mouse in Paris. All of the mentions to elite fashion houses--Givenchy, Chanel, Hermes, etc--was such fun. The appearance of Anna Wintour (illustrated so perfectly in her sunglasses) also brought a smile to my face.
I got this book for me. And only me. And yes, it was worth it.
Rhyming couplets. Claris the mouse who loves designing dresses lives in Paris with a human family with a bratty daughter. For fashion week, she designs 7 beautiful dresses. Her family forgets their fashion week invite, so Claris goes on an adventure to bring it. Her friend surprises her with their own seats to the show.
