Mom and I have decided we would get into the spirit and do a little holiday reading. So we of course went to Harlequin and picked out a couple romance book. This is the first one mom and I tried. What can we say. It was not bad, but it just was not quite the amazing kick off we were hopeing for. First of the blurb on the back was a little misleading, now we don’t feel this is a spoiler, because the baby Jo had was born with in the first 50 pages and was gone. Well the revolation didn’t come until the last couple pages. As for it being a Christmas/ Holiday Book again it was there but did not really show up until later, but we didn’t expect it to be quite as Holiday themed as it said New Years in the title. Mom thinks for the reason it was a good first start. Lastly mom just had a hard time getting into the book. It was a great idea and some parts of the story really shone, but it felt more like to much of Jo and Charles was a little to much tell and not enough show. To be fair though they are perfect together, but mom just felt there weren’t enough scenes of the author just letting us see they had chemistry. Of all it was a nice book and maybe a good way to start of the holiday reading spree mom has planned.
Charles is a Prince and he is searching for information about his Mother who he never knew, she died when he was born. He shows up at her Mom's house hopeing to learn some things about her. He finds Dottie is a little eccentric and does not want to talk about her daughter.
He also finds a very pregnant Dr. Jo who goes into labor and Dottie and Charles have to deliver her baby. A very good book that keeps you engrossed in the pages and reading it takes no time at all. Really enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone who loves a good romance.
I believe this is the first book that I have read of Meredith Webber but it will not be the last one.
In this Mills & Boon story, a Crown Prince arrives at his long lost grandmother’s house to learn more about his mother, who is deceased. The initial chapters of this book surprised me in their writing; using all the senses, bringing you into the scene. But in the last chapter, the deus ex machina were in full force and much of the last chapter events are described as “somehow, everything worked out”. It felt a bit rushed but overall, a decent read.
Crown Prince Charles of Livaroche is in town to meet the grandmother he never had the chance to know because of the rift between his mother and her parents. However, he never imagined he’d find himself falling in love with the pregnant woman he meets the moment he arrives at his grandmother’s doorstep. Will Charles be able to convince Jo to take a chance on him or will she walk away from her shot at happy ever after? Read More
I read this book because I am in a reading challenge to link the titles of all of the books I read fir the week. I needed a totals that linked the word Wedding to the word Crown and this totals is perfect for that. It was cute, but not spectacular. It was clean and sweet, but some of the writing seemed stilted - like it felt a little like jerky movements instead of smooth flowing. I felt like an outsider looking in rather than invested deep into the story. I didn’t feel much (if any) emotional involvement. Jo Wainwright is heavily pregnant when she is first confronted by Prince Charles of Livaroche, on the doorstep of her elderly friend, Dottie. Jo is a kind of generous physician in the small Australian town. Charles shows up unexpectedly to try to ferret out the roots of his dead mother. She died before he could know her and so he seeks her mother (his grandmother) out in order to get to know his mother on some level. But Jo is a complete surprise and help to him as he tries desperately to pry information from Dottie. Jo and Charles feel something between them almost immediately, but there are several complications in the possibility of a future together.
Great story about Christmas in australia. Though partway thru chapter eleven where Charles came to see Jo seemed to be missing parts there was no "yes" but everything just kept unfolding
