A hospital orderly explores his bisexuality with an adorably geeky lab tech, but can their sparks lead to love outside the closet?
When Ian Connolly installs a hookup app to explore his long-suppressed attraction to men, he doesn't expect to connect with anyone he knows, especially not lab tech Callum Price. But from their first scorching encounter, he's hooked.
Callum hasn't had the best luck with love. His ex refuses to move out, adding to a pile of responsibilities suffocating him. But when he sees an opportunity to blow off steam with Ian, he takes it. The man is smoking hot, big all over, and sweet as pie.
Their chemistry is off the charts, but a relationship is more challenging. Callum remains stubbornly self-reliant, while Ian tries too hard to be his rock. But if Ian can be honest with his family about loving a man, maybe Callum can admit his own truth: He wants a man he can count on -- a man just like Ian.

I'm done with this author now. NO MORE! This series have been hinting at my pet-peeve (ridiculous forgiveness of family because they're blood) ever since book 2, and I could sort of maybe ignore it, if I closed one eye and squeezed my Kindle really tight. But with the shitshow that was book 5, and now the first 10% of this crap, I'm done!
Callum might end up saying no to his disgusting mother and his douchebag ex, but considering the author's choices in this series so far, I believe not. And I can't do it. I can't spend my precious reading-time on things like this. Why should I respect and love a character that doesn't respect and love himself?
This is definitely one of my favourites in the Hearts & Health series although it took me a wee while to warm up fully to Callum.
That wasn't because I didn't like his character, in actuality I thought he was super sweet and geeky in all the best ways. It was more to do with how reserved he was with Ian.
I could understand it, there wasn't anything irrational in why he was cautious, but I felt like Ian was open from the start about his situation and the processing he would need to get through and maybe Callum could have accepted it a bit easier.
Ian's every action spoke about how he felt about Callum and where he wanted things to go and I was glad there was no bi erasure in this one. Ian is emphatically bisexual even while being totally in love with his Calico.
I also liked that Ian's sexuality wasn't an issue for Cal either, more his fears about letting himself be looked after by someone else. The tensions and conflicts were handled well and realistically and we get to catch up with some of the guys from the previous books.
All in all another great addition to the series.
#ARC kindly provided by the author in return for an honest and unbiased review.
Anyone who reads my reviews knows how much I love D. J.’s work. I liked this ok, but it wasn’t my favorite. I read it because her books make me happy and I usually love her characters. Ian and Callum were ok, but I just couldn’t fall in love with either of them. I wanted them both to show some backbone, but by the time they finally did I just didn’t care as much. I also wasn’t the least bit happy about how the entire Matt and Doug situation turned out.
And each story keeps getting that little bit better! Full review to follow...soonish...of course!
May 10/18 - full review below...
Is it really possible for a closet to be too big?
Well yes, if you’re a hospital orderly named Ian Connolly who’s divorced, with a teenaged son and who is just starting to question his sexuality…at times that closet can seem huge and the doors may feel like they’re stuck shut.
But if you’re a lab tech named Callum Price…those closet doors have never really been closed and the only time you’re really in there is when you need to get clothes for work…or maybe explore an unexpected attraction with a not so straight orderly who pushes all of your buttons in the best way possible.
Ian’s been married since he was in his teens and never really had a chance to explore his bisexuality but now that he’s single again he’s determined to rectify that situation and explore his long ignored attraction to men.
Neither Ian nor Callum expected to connect with someone they knew when they start a conversation on a hook-up app. But that’s exactly what happens and both men realize from their first encounter that their attraction is off the charts…we’re not talking love at first sight here folks…nope this is most definitely lust at first sight and I’m good with that…I mean really who among us hasn’t seen someone that their first reaction to hasn’t been ‘Oh hell yeah! I’d do that.’ see…lust at first sight.
It’s as Ian and Callum’s encounters continue that they begin to get to know each other, enjoy each other and seek out the other’s company, care about the others dreams, hopes and aspirations, become supportive, turn to each other. In other words what starts as lust begins to become something more…deeper…love.
Callum and Ian are two very different people each having their own issues, concerns and problems to deal with.
Ian has a son and a family that doesn’t know he’s bisexual and that he fears may not be very accepting. He’s close to his family and doesn’t want to lose them but as things between him and Callum progress he also realizes that if he’s going to have the man who’s fast becoming a central part of his life, he’s going to have to step out of that closet that he’s been hiding in for so many years.
Callum’s gotten himself buried in responsibilities and a lot of them are of his own making. Somewhere along the way Callum’s forgotten how to stand up for himself and between a mother who doesn’t seem to appreciate her son and how hard he’s trying to take care of not just her but himself and Doug, his leach of an ex-boyfriend who doesn’t seem to understand that when the relationship’s over it’s time to move on, Callum’s burning the candle at both ends.
I loved how this story unfolded and how Callum and Ian developed a genuine friendship as well as their romantic relationship. Once again, we were given a couple that I had no problem imagining and could easily visualize not just them but their relationship as it played out.
Add in some of my catnip (insert characters from previous stories here) and you’ve me hooked. I loved this one and I’m pretty sure that I’d have to say it’s become my favorite one so far. There was a bit of everything for me there was drama, angst, even a bit of a romantic thriller, definitely sexy times and humor and everything flowed together to create a fun and interesting story that flowed easily and gives a very satisfying HFN that’s border on and tipping towards the HEA that these two men so deserve.
I’m hoping that we haven’t seen the end of this series, I have to admit I’m not sure who could come next but I’m certainly willing to hang around and see.

An ARC of Orderly Affair was graciously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
Enjoyable tale of a nerdy lab tech Callum , a sweet orderly Ian, family drama and bitcoins. I liked the MCs, the nerdy bits and the cast of characters. although, I was pissed off at Callum’s home life. It was interesting that he constantly mentioned he could take care of himself. However, his home life said different. A good read, lite on the angst and the drama but still interesting.
I’ve been really enjoying this series so far, and Orderly Affair really fits in well with the rest of the books. I loved that Callum was such a sweet, nerdy, and clumsy type of guy; it made it quite easy to identify with him since I’m the nerdy science type myself. He was adamant about others knowing he could take care of himself, and is not shy about letting others know this. Unfortunately, he lets others take advantage of him—in particular his ex Doug (who I’d gladly strangle in a heartbeat).
Ian is a caretaker and protector, and wanting to help Callum is instinctual for him. He’s physically strong, and very even-keeled…not one to rock the boat or bring uncertainty or chaos into his or others’ lives. Ian and Callum are pretty much opposites, but click together well—a great example of opposites attracting. As Ian explores his bisexuality, the physical scenes between them become hotter and more intense—no shortage of chemistry for sure ;-)
I’m finding it hard to not say too much about this story without giving anything away. I definitely found it entertaining, and I truly did enjoy Ian and Callum both separately and together. I liked having appearances from other characters from this series (especially Ben!), I’m always a fan of those types of cameos. Even with those appearances Orderly Affair can still be read as a standalone.
This book was a solid 4-star read for me, and I’d recommend it to all M/M romance fans. The adult language and sexual content makes this story one for readers 18+. I hope there will be more in the series…honestly in this setting the possibilities could go one for a while!
Orderly Affair is a fun mix of tropes. It's a little bit May/December romance - one of my personal favorites, a somewhat opposites attract, and a whole lot of coming out of the closet romance. The love story side of this one took me me a bit to get into, but the characters were so interesting and that I enjoyed their story as they moved from casual hookup to something more. There is some angst, mostly revolving around Ian's struggle to come out, but the witty dialogue and steamy fun between this absolutely adorable pair kept things from getting too heavy. All in all, this sweet and sexy tale is another great addition to the series and we even get a few peeks at past faves for an added bonus.
I love this series! Every time a new book comes out I get all kinds of excited. DJ Jamison has such a way of telling her stories. I get sucked in from the first page. And the stories and the couples just keep getting better.
Callum and Ian.... so two men walk into a closet..... one man is out and proud. The other still figuring out his sexuality.
These two are just perfect. Of course they have ups and downs- more ups then downs. But it was such a beautiful story. Two men trying to find their way in the world. Trying to be free to be who they want to be.
So I’m wondering if there’s going to be another book for this series? I can’t wait to find out.
This story is a little bit of a May/December story, with a little of opposites attract, and a first time gay. The cast of characters is a little of everything as well. There a moving on up ex-wife, unemployed deadbeat ex-boyfriend, a snarly teenage son, a less than loving disabled mom, and a whole clan of Connolly’s. Added to the mix, is the rest of the hospital gang we’ve met in the previous books. They all add their own element to the enjoyment of the book.
Ian is a nurturer and a caregiver. He is also a big, burly divorced man, with an eighteen-year-old son. His ex-wife is getting re-married and so she no longer needs him. But now he’s got time to trying to figure out his bisexual side. That side has always been there, but yeah, the wife. So now he’s free to explore and to that end, he installs an app for that. It shows that there is a chance to meet with someone at the hospital. Whoever it is has agreed to meet him in the janitor’s closet.
Callum is stuck in a rut. His life consists of working at a job he loves but won’t have any chance to get ahead in. And when he goes home, he gets to deal with his disabled mom and his ex-boyfriend, who won’t take the hint to move out. All the while hoping the house they all live in doesn’t fall on their heads. When his phone’s app shows him a chance to hookup, he jumps at the chance. He’s sure it’s a one and done, so he’s not sure why Ian keeps coming around. And when Ian starts his caregiver tendencies, Callum is eager to prove he can take care of himself…maybe.
Loved this book, it was such a fun read. I loved watching, as Callum learns to grow a backbone, that sometimes you have to confront people and things in your life. Then there’s Ian, as he struggles with how to be open and honest about his sexuality to his son and the rest of his family. This is book six in the series, I think you could read this as a standalone and not get to lost with the secondary characters that show up in this story. But really, the others are so worth reading, you should get them all and read in order.
Little did I expect that when orderly Ian Connolly burst in unexpectedly on former hospital administrator Dr. Eric Holtz and OB/GYN Dr. Casper Rollins enjoying life’s finer things in the janitorial closet that he would have his own smoking hot romance.
Walking in on the two good doctors uprooted Ian’s buried interest in men. Using a location-based app, Ian eventually connects with geeky hospital lab tech and pick-up basketball acquaintance Callum Price in the men’s bathroom. After their initial hook-up, he can no longer deny that he is bisexual – and more than a little attracted to Callum – even though Ian is closing in on 40 and has an 18-year-old son with his ex-wife of 16 years, Michelle.
Orderly Affair is not a fast-paced read, instead reminding one of the porridge in the Three Little Bears – not too hot, not too cold, but just right. Ian is downright perfect through and through, and he’s just what the doctor ordered to heal Callum’s vulnerabilities, even if it’s a pill that he finds hard to swallow at first. The secondary characters – Ian’s ex-wife Michelle and son Liam, Callum’s elderly mother and lazy ex-boyfriend Doug, Ian’s boisterous family, and characters introduced in previous books in the Hearts and Health series – flesh out several overlapping storylines that author Jamison does a magnificent job of tying seamlessly together by the end of the book. There are even a few unexpected twists and turns, but each one is plausible and adds depth, variety, and heart to the story. When Ian finally determines it’s time to step out of the closet – instead tumbling out head first when his best laid plans don’t take place quite as he had hoped – the end results are realistic and relatable.
Orderly Affair is definitely a heartwarming, satisfying, and enjoyable read. Though it started out a bit flat and awkward, it quickly shifted gears, and thankfully without frivolous drama. It delivers good writing, great storytelling, and genuine love and romance that will leave readers feeling satisfied with the HEA.
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.
Book six in the series, but they are all stand alone novels with pop ups from previous characters. All 4 and 5 stars reads from me, bar book one, which I STILL haven't got to read yet!
Ian is only just, at his 38th year, finally finding it in himself to find himself. A hook up app seems the best option. Finding Callum answering his message was a surprise, but both men run with it.
I found myself fully engaged with both Ian and Callum. Ian, experimenting with his sexuality, and Callum, already fully embraced in his. Their chemistry is hot, and burns bright, even before they decide to date properly. Ian does tend to jump in with full force once he makes his mind up, and his mind is made up that he wants Callum.
Callum's independent streak is a mile wide and causes some problems, he just needs to let Ian in. While Ian is still in the closest, though, Callum won't utter those three little words Ian already said, not until he knows he has a future with Ian.
I loved that Callum waited for Ian, he could easily have gone off on one and forced the issue but he didn't. Ian's son forced the issue, in a spectacular way! Loved though, that after his blip, Liam comes around.
I read this in one sitting. I even took the kindle to the kitchen to make tea and feed the natives so I didn't have to stop reading!
No idea who is next, or even if there IS a next book. I'll read it, regardless.
The first book in this series is a cross over with another series, and I'd like, at some point, to go back and read those books too. I'll add them to my pile, and maybe get round to them some time in 2025!
I love this series, I really do. They leave me with that warm and fuzzies feeling that lasts for days!
Orderly Affair is a good addition to the Hearts & Health series. It didn't grab me quite as much as other stories in the series but I still liked it a lot.
Ian is divorced but still on friendly terms with his wife. He's only now coming to terms with being bi-sexual and is ready to explore his attraction to men. He's not out to anyone yet.
Callum is a lab tech at the hospital where Ian works. He has problems at home; he can't get rid of his ex-boyfriend who is still living in his house, and his mother won't acknowledge that he's gay even with the ex still living with them. His mother has health problems and she likes the dead-beat ex because he runs errands for her and keeps her company while Callum works.
At first, Callum is OK with Ian being in the closet because they're just having a fling after meeting via a hook-up app. But as their relationship begins to get more serious he knows that he can't go on unless Ian is willing to come out to his family and friends.
Ian has a teenage son, Liam, from his marriage, and he's really afraid of his reaction if he comes out to him. I liked the supporting characters in this book. Liam is a great character and his mother, Ian's ex, and her husband also add interest to the story.
This is a very good book with a great epilogue. DJ Jamison writes the best epilogues and this one gives us a peek at Ian and Callum three months down the road. It was also fun to revisit characters from previous stories in the series.
I'm looking forward to reading more books in this series.
An advanced copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.
Orderly Affair is book 6 in the Hearts and Health series and while it can be read as a standalone, several of the characters from the previous installments are featured/mentioned in this one and truly, the series is really good and you'll be missing out if you don't read it.
I loved Ian, he was such a sweet, caring man. Yes, he was closeted for a part of the book and 38 is a bit late to be exploring his bisexuality for the first time, but it was nice that it was because he wouldn't cheat on his wife while they were still married, even if he'd been attracted to men before. I liked Callum, but there were several times in which I just wanted to shake him and ask him what was wrong with him. He was a doormat with his mother and his ex, Doug, who still lived at his house and mooched off of him. But whenever Ian tried to help Callum out, he would jump and treat him like dirt. Truly, I was so disappointed by Callum's behavior after the 'salting incident' and how easily Ian forgave him, when Cal finally realized he'd blown things out of proportion. Anyway, despite this, I have to admit Callum and Ian had a lot of chemistry and they were hot together. Do I believe Callum deserved Ian? No, but they finally seemed to make things work in the end.
I really liked Ian's son Liam, his ex Michele, his brother Sean and his mom, who were all a great support system for Ian. I didn't care for Ian's older brother, Callum's mother or Doug, especially after what happened with Doug's hookup.
Overall, while Orderly Affair wasn't my favorite, it was a good, entertaining addition to the series. It was fast-paced, engaging and hot and of course, it didn't hurt that we got to catch up with Gage. Recommendable!
*** Copy provided to Bayou Book Junkie, a review wasn't a requirement. ***
The new main characters in this book are just as interesting as the characters from previous books. Ian is a divorced dad of a teenager who has been in the closet for most of his life and has finally started to accept his bisexuality. He is an orderly in a hospital, and is content with his job. His ex-wife was not. People think he may not have ambition, but to be happy and content in your job is basically the dream, isn’t it? Adding good pay and conditions on top of that, it is nearly unrealistic.
Callum, on the other hand, is younger than Ian, and a lab technician. Unlike Ian, he is content but does want to advance. But living with his mother and his ex-boyfriend in a house that is in terrible condition, Callum has problems paying for courses that would allow him to advance. He also has good relationship with his boss and does not want to take the job from her.
The first real meeting of the two starts…well, in a hospital bathroom, doing things they definitely shouldn’t. They gradually slip in a relationship, but they both have their own hang-ups and problems.
This book was a bit different than the other ones. The complication here is not just a break-up. Callum is robbed by his ex’s friend and when they try to go to get the items back (something with password for cryptocurrencies about which I have absolutely no idea), things become dangerous! Of course we all know all ends well, but there is danger.
It is possibly my second favourite book from the series, pretty much sharing the space with Bedside Manner (and all time favourite is Urgent Care by the way!)
I would recommend this book just as much as the others. It doesn’t get too into the cryptocurriencies thingie – just enough to make sense of the story. And I loved the geeky side of Callum!
This book was fun all in all, even though I feel like some part were a bit rushed or too fast its still was a good book to read. Ian and Cal's relationship starts with a hookup and it takes them some time to figure out what they want, add to that Cal's tricky home situation and Ian's closeted state and things are not easy at all. I actually liked Ian better than Cal, because at times it was hard to relate to him and understand why he puts up with his mother and ex-boyfriend's behavior. these parts are the ones I had a bit of an issue with, because they felt inconsistent and later in the book some characters changed their behavior out of the blue of without enough buildup to properly explain it. I did like Liam, Ian's eighteen year old son and how they mended their relationship slowly. Liam was a fun character and I enjoyed his interactions with his father.
Cal and Ian have a very good chemistry physically, but they also build great emotional balance to all the sex as the relationship progresses. That being said, some of Ian's actions were hard to read about and I am not sure h should have been forgiven for them as easily as it seemed sometimes.
All in all a nice book that can be read as a standalone even if there are many characters from earlier books. It's a nice feel-good book with no major drama and lots of fluff.
Ian is a hospital orderly. He loves his job, sees himself doing it forever. Recently divorced he has an eighteen year old son. He know he has always been attracted to men but has never done anything about it. He tries a new app on his phone and is surprised to find a guy in the same hospital.
Callum is a lab tech also happy with his job but wanting to advance. He lives in a crappy home with his mom and an ex boyfriend who just won't go away. When he gets a message from his dating app he doesn't believe the guy in the picture is the same one he's talking to.
They meet in a bathroom stall and are both really surprised by their attraction to each other. They decide that after the first explosive encounter that they want to pursue the feelings.
Ian is firmly in the closet and has no plans on coming out anytime soon. Callum is ok with that because it's just a temporary thing. The issues start when they realize that they are falling in love. Problems multiply and they aren't that good at communicating outside the bedroom.
Another good book in this series and the visits from past characters is welcome.
Review Copy requested and reviewed on behalf of OMGReads.
Ian a Hospital orderly and Callum a Hospital Lab Technician. A great read, story flow is natural and easy. Ian is divorced and is coming to terms with being Bi and a what that means for not only himself but his family and friends. Callum has been out as gay since he was 17. They meet on a dating app for Gay men. The characters are known to each other (they play Basketball together occassionally), they just hadn't been on each others radar's. The story is about them coming together as a couple and Ian coming out not only to his Son but his family. I was Devastated about Callum's Cryptocurrency debacle. Would've loved to kick Doug. Michelle Ian's ex wife and his son Liam were a great support when announcing Callum and Ian's relationship, to Ian's family. Think possibly a future story with his brother Sean. The story is part of a series bk 6, but is standalone and can be read as a standalone without any issues . Characters are mentioned from previous books, but situations are explained . Highly recommend this book and the series. Entertaining, Enjoyable and Well written.
This is the 6th book in this series and I have enjoyed them all, though I think this story might be my new favorite.
Ian & Callum meet through a hook-up and waste no time in hooking up. Their relationship starts with just random encounters and Callum doesn't expect it to go any further than that since Ian is so far in the closet.
The extras really made this book. Liam, Ian’s son, was a vital piece for Ian’s coming out. Doug, Callum’s ex-boyfriend/roommate, played a role in who Callum was. Both moms were great to get to know. And even Michelle, Ian’s ex-wife, made me smile at times in the book.
This story of coming out and finding yourself - even if you’re out of the closet - was told well and I really enjoyed getting to know these characters. I really loved Ian’s nickname for Callum. It was just about perfect.
*** I voluntarily read a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ***
Orderly Ian and lab tech Callum hook up through an app as Ian looks to explore his bisexuality for the first time in his life. His previous experiences has all been with a woman. He is divorced with a son. He has been attracted to men in the past but never acted on his attraction until now. He is instantly attracted to Callum but Callum is only interested in hooking up at this point in his life. Or does he? Callum finds himself realising the more time he spends with Ian, the more he wants with him.
Unfortunately, Callum's living arrangements aren't conducive to a relationship with an ex who refuses to move out and refuses to contribute anything to keeping the house and a mother who is in denial over his sexuality.
Yep plenty that could and does go wrong. It was full of twists and turns along the way that has you running the gauntlet of emotions. I really, really enjoyed this read.
Ck ck ck.

What a wild one! Ian is divorced with a teenage son he's trying to reconnect with as he works as an orderly in a hospital. It's not the most glamorous job, but it's pretty much why his wife left him. Rude. He's always felt an attraction toward men but he has never had the chance to act on it and he's never told anyone. A dating app shows him someone is looking for a match in the same building as him, at work in the hospital. They agree to meet in a bathroom and Ian is surprised when casual acquaintance and lab tech Callum walks in. It starts as a quick hookup, but the two are aching for more, and the 11-year age gap doesn't stop them!
Callum has his own issues, living in a house that's falling apart and an ex that just won't leave. He takes care of his mother, but his ex is pretty much there to mooch off him, although he does run the occasional errand. It's quite complicated. Ian is the perfect distraction for him, but Callum also wants to live outside the closet, so their secret romance can't last forever.
🔥: Super steamy! These two are so hot for each other and it's wildly obvious. Their scenes are medium paced, with most of the details, and Callum loves showing Ian everything there is to enjoy with two men. 😆: There are some good laughs, mostly thanks to the playful teasing between Ian and Callum. 😭: You likely won't shed any tears with this one, although there is a scary moment that will have you on the edge of your seat!
What a fun series! My biggest takeaway is respecting so much about what these people working in hospitals deal with. My goodness! Love these characters so much❤️
I love this series and this book did not disappoint! Ian is a beefy 37 year old orderly who is just beginning to explore his bisexuality. Callum is a geeky 26 year old lab technician who is tired of people in his life walking all over him. The chemistry between the MCs is off the charts right from the beginning. As you continue on their journey to love there are a few hurdles to overcome. This book gives just enough angst to keep things interesting, lots of sexy scenes that could catch my kindle on fire, some white knight chivalry, and a HEA. In my opinion, you could enjoy this book without reading the others in the series. Although, as stated above, this series is great so you’d be crazy not to indulge in those as well.
**please note that I voluntarily accepted an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review**
It was very nice to be able to return to Ashe, Kansas. To visit with the other men there and to get to know more people. As always, Ms Jamison did not disappoint.
In Orderly Affair we get to know 37 year old, 6 ft 4 in tall, father of one, Ian Connolly. Our original brief, introduction to him happened 3 weeks previously in the same closet that we begin his own story. We also get to know 26 year old, self proclaimed geek, science nerd, lab technician Callum Price.
It was wonderful to witness these two sweet men fall in love as they each dealt with the stress of life in many different forms.
I don't want to spoil this for anyone so I'll just say one more thing... I highly recommend that you read it!
I want to thank Ms Jamison for drawing my name in the contest for an ARC. As always this is my fair and honest, unsolicited review.
To explore your sexuality after being married and raising a kid, it can be scary, Ian is finding that out now. At age 38, he is finding a new happy. Meeting Callum and convincing him to date has been great. By Ian needs to face his fears and let his family know about his new boyfriend, his son, his ex-wife and his family.
Callum has his own issues. An ex that won’t move out, his mother who is more dependent on him than necessary and a house is disrepair.
The two of them together is magic if they can get everything else to fall in place it would be perfect.
This books is really great, the whole series is great and getting to see others from previous books gelling Ian and Callum is truly a fantastic thing. DJ Jamison writes fun characters with strong emotions. A five star series continues!
D J always does the slow burn. She makes you earn their love. Even if a little nibble is given initially, the cat and mouse game pulls you in. The same goes for Ian and Callum. Callum's may and Ian at this point newly divorced and bicurious, they meet through a hook up sit. Bonus points come from them working at the same hospital, but not knowing each other. After a brief hookup, Ian wants even more, but Callum is just looking for fun, having had his share of getting burned. Luckily for us they continue the game. Even though Ian is hooked, not coming out of the closet, plays havoc on both of them. Happily through a serious of issues, they find their way to the finish line. At first, I didn't like, Callum's mother, but in the end, she redeems herself. Sorry, no matter what, Doug was still a thorn to me.
I mostly skimmed this book because it was filled with things I hate: money problems, doormat for my family problems, in the closet problems. It was too much angst and melodrama for me. This has been a pretty weak series, but so far this was the worst of the bunch. For someone else, it would probably be the best, because they would love that stuff. The one thing that sets this book apart from the others in the series is that's it's not just one boring note all the way through (for example book 1: I've been hurt too much so I don't want a relationship, book 5: I'm still in love with my dead boyfriend so I can't have a serious relationship). This book has multiple levels of storytelling, which is a major improvement in the author's technical craft.
I love this series, the hospital setting is so well done and accurate without becoming overly technical. And this is another great addition.
I really enjoyed the way this plot developed, from the chance hook-up through coming out. The age difference was hot, especially with the added twist of Callum being closer to Ian’s son’s age. And absolutely adored getting a few cameos from past characters.
I’m almost afraid to know when/if this series will end, Jamison has done such a great job of keeping them connected, but fresh and unique.
Callum's life is complicated and his connection with Ian brings much need support, light and eventually love.
Ian is exploring the same sex attraction part of his bisexuality and this aspect of the book is lovely.
Callum's struggle to support his mother and get his ex boyfriend out of the house. Callum's family issues really inform who he is as a person and shape his ability to love.
I love the resolution of the ex boyfriend which manages not to make him a crazy villain.
There is a bit of drama at the end that I didn't need but didn't mind. Ian and Callum make a great couple.
Oh man, Orderly Affair was so hot. I loved Ian and Callum. I love stories when the MCs are so different, I want to read it all up so that I know how they got it all figured out. A coming out story with kids are some of my favourite. I really loved how much Callum had to grow to find independence in so many situations. And I liked the addition of real world things in to the story. The story was fast-paced, sexy and included characters from the series, something I really like, however the story was easy to follow without reading the rest of the series.. I would definitely recommend this story.
Another amazing addition to the Hearts and Health Series! I loved Ian and Callum's story! Full of emotion, and sexy times! Story line was compelling, and the characters had great chemistry. Great ionic bond ;) I couldn't help but fall in love with them! I also loved the little cameos from past MCs!
This is one of my favorite M/M Series, if you are looking for sweet, fun reads I highly recommend picking up this series! And if you are already a fan of Author D.J. Jamison's stories- you are going to love this one!
