Not everyone who comes to America arrives by choice.

A man and a teenage girl are found dead in a bullet-riddled motel room. Evidence points to the Russian Mafia. This isn’t the first time Erin O’Reilly has tangled with organized crime, but she isn’t prepared for the sheer brutality that’s waiting for her. She and her trusty K-9 Rolf peel back the curtain on a seedy world of human trafficking and murder. In the streets of Little Odessa, Erin finds men who won’t think twice about killing a woman. And this is one place where her gold detective shield will be no protection.

The 3rd book of this series finds Rolf and Erin called to investigate a double homicide at a motel. The Major Crime Unit of the NYPD will become involved with the Russian mafia and humans traffic. Erin and Rolf moved into an apartment in Manhattan. Before they have completed the move they are called to a double homicide in Brooklyn. The evidence shows a group of shooter shot through the window and complete the job inside. Originally it was considered a prostitute and John. Further examination they concluded that victims were meeting for something else. The girl was pregnant and planning on allowing the man to adopt the baby. Vic Neshenko of Russian descent of squad heads to the Russian area of becomes involved with a girl. At this point, a gunfight occurs and Vic is shot. Rolf's car is destroyed and it becomes a race to catch the Russians before they leave the country with a group of young woman. I am ready to read DOUBLE SHOT when it is released later this year. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND SERIES.

I’m not entirely sure why I like these books so much, Erin is a great main character plus there is the added bonus of Rolfe. The cases are fairly straight forward, but there is enough going on around the investigation to make them interesting. However what I really like is they are so easy to read, the narrative just flows, I can pick up the book and not put it down until I have finished.

Go get ‘em, Erin

I really like Erin and Vic and crew. I really like the whole story. I really like there is no needless droning internal dialogue - just enough to know what Erin is about. It must be obvious I really like this author.

The New York City world of Irish mobs and Russian mobs and who knows what other kinds of ethnic mobs there are, is a world absolutely foreign to me. It’s like reading science fiction about life on another planet. It’s that distant. And I’m glad it is. What’s it all about, anyway? What does it give the people who are in the middle of it? Are they simply acting on some form of thrill-seeking, only differently than a guy who jumps off a cliff in a squirrel suit? They can have it. Nonetheless, it’s entertaining to read stories about that life—just as it is reading a space opera.

I’m not a fan of vodka, but this White Russian went down easily and left a pleasant aftertaste. Erin O’Reilly, her partner Rolf, and her colleagues are becoming old friends. This time the team is up against the Russian Mafia ensconced in Brighton Beach, otherwise known as Little Odessa. The bad guys are ruthless and determined, the good guys follow the rules and are equally determined. This was another fun, quick read made even more enjoyable by the denizens of Barley Corner. Truthfully, Cars and Corky might be my favorite characters. I’m looking forward to the next round.

great story

Once again another fascinating and compelling story in this great series. I’m really hooked on these characters especially Erin and Rolph . Each time I think I know where the story is going it pivots and surprises me. It’s well written and thought out. You’re rooting for all the characters to be ok. I was on the edge of my seat for a while in this book. I cannot wait to read the next book now even if some of the storylines are hard hitting. Great narration too

This was another great addition to the series. I loved exploring Erin's character and her family more in this book as well as seeing Vic grow as a character. This book reminded me of a episode of CSI New York I think that explored a underground trafficking ring so some of this I had already explored before but it was still interesting. I liked seeing more of Erin's relationship with her father and I hope to continue to see more of it. Webb also sounding like an exasperated parent through most of this book which I found rather amusing.

This series is proof that you need not to have 12 red herrings and 50 possible suspects to make a crime thriller good. Simple plot stories can be made just as intriguing! And i cant believe that i simply cannot put this series away and pick something else. I just need to know whats gonna happen!! Such easy reads and lovely characters!

A really good read

This book had me hooked from the start. The characters are richly drawn and their interaction is enjoyable. The main character Erin is a great cop with the perfect partner in K9 officer Rolf. Can't wait for the next book in the series.

Better & Better

This series just gets better with each book! Vic, Erin, Webb & Jones are really becoming a team! Getting to know the characters is a challenge! Throw in monsters who have a code, makes you keep wondering!

This one was pretty intense. Definitely had a heavier feel than the previous two books, and it was a bit more action packed. Erin is a force to be reckoned with.

I'm really enjoying these fast paced murder mysteries. Erin gets caught up in a shootout and is having a tough time getting over it. Her father, a retired cop, has never shot anyone and here she is, just a short time a new detective, and she's killing bad guys.
Funny, tense, action packed. I don't care for Corky, he's pushy and ignorant and I am kind of hoping he disappears.

Love lost

A cold life can be full and void yet minus a love life. One of the careers with a very high divorce rate. Maybe Vic should be glad for what happened. Exciting take well written and suspenseful.

Not worth 5.99

I have unlimited and I got sucked into this series. It was pretty good. Although getting in for free and then paying 5.99 for a couple of hundred pages feels like a rip off. Check your series!!!

This is a good series so far. The plots have enough twists to keep your interest up. The characters are developing deeper relationships which adds to the plot. The writing style is easy to read and the end comes too soon, but does tie up any loose threads.

Very quick reads. Not much more than a short story, but with lots of punch.
