Was more abuse than anything. I don’t mind a BDSM book with true scenes related to this subject but this book was not that. The relationship between the leads was just bad and I ended up skipping through a lot of the book just to get to the end. I kept hoping the heroine would just get the courage to leave but she just seemed to have no self worth. This is the second book I have read by this author and I didn’t like either. This was slightly better than the first but I will not be reading anything else by this author again.
Oh my goodness Jack even set my panties on fire! How could Mira even resist? The man is the ultimate alpha male character. Sure there were times I wanted to clobber him but he also made the book so exciting to read. Mira is an extremely intelligent woman who has a little trouble admitting to what she really wants and needs but don't worry Jack helps her come to grips with it. I was also excited to see a couple of familiar faces from a previous book which enhanced this reading experience for me. Don't get me wrong it wasn't all smooth sailing but then what would grab your attention and keep you reading if it was? I am extremely excited to have found this series . I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Happy Reading!
Wow!! What an epic story!! Mira & Jack’s story will definitely take you on one heck of a ride!! There were so many times I wanted to throat punch Jack. He’s just so dominant that it borderlines being crazy. However, his love for Mira is definitely there, and she loves him just as hard. If you love dominant, Alpha males, you’ll love this book!! Really enjoyed this read.
This is my first read by Jasmin Quinn and it will not be my last! What can I say about this book? WOW!! Absolutely fantastic! If you like romance, dominant men, sizzling chemistry and great storyline then, this is the book to read. In the beginning, I didn’t know how I felt about the lead male character, Jack, because he was so dominant, but I slowly warmed up to him. The sex scenes between him and Mira are quite steamy, toe curling and will make your heart race. This book is definitely a re-read for me, so what are you waiting for 1-click today you won't be disappointed!
Agree it was a good story. Liked the intrigue, the character interaction, and the flaming fire love scenes. But Mira was a little on the weak side. She sure did a lot of crying and wavering in her feelings for Jack. But maybe it was love that made her weak.
Holy smokes!!! This book was so good I could not put it down!! Jack is the perfect dominant, crime boss who takes what he wants and doesn’t apologize for it. Mira is just holding on for dear life. We start in a courtroom during a murder trial and the story quickly turns into a battle of wills and explosive interactions! Edit
What a turnabout! Jack Creed is the arch enemy in the last book; now he's the hero of this one...Takes a few moments to get on board with the switch, but boy is it worth it. What a guy! Absolutely droolworthy! The sex is off the charts and the atmosphere somewhere way above boiling point.
The story is different from the rest of the series too. No one is on the run, no one is hiding from the Russian mafia. (I don't think...Was a little distracted by the incredible scenes unfolding with every page!) Mira's only job is to get his brother out of jail...Woe betide her if she fails. But Jack isn't all that he seems. He has more on his plate than first appears. And it's not all about his brother or his business ventures. Something will bring this ultimate Alpha to his knees before the book is done.
I liked it but I think Jack was a bit much on the over bearing side, not popular opinion, but I’m surprised there was never a time she left him instead of him leaving her...again, and him having to grovel a bit instead of having the upper hand throughout the entire book. It was extremely well written characters were hot and everything was great apart from the fact I think it should have been a stronger female character. I completely understand why she was crying all the time, and if other people don’t, they need to open their eyes and understand the force used against her. I don’t think it should have been a happy ending without a bit of an equaliser.
Finally, we have Jack Creed’s story. Mia is the lawyer prosecuting his brother for murder, but she has a history with Creed. Five years after their first encounter, they have some issues to ... sort out.
I enjoyed the fact that it was not obvious who was the ‘baddie’ in this book. Was it Jack or someone else? How would his relationship with Mia progress? Bear in mind, he is not painted in a favourable light in the previous book ...
Hot. Real hot. He’s an asshat, and I’m still undecided if he grovel enough (if at all), but it was quite satisfactory. It might be because he was totally non-nonsense. If someone like Jack order me to forgive him, I probably would.
This was a heck of a story. I want more of these two. I was really into the give and take of the story it was mostly take lol. A bit on the dark side but not overly so.
Your are awesome your books are so detailed the drama and suspense and all the excitement and the hard love. The characters are awesome. And you are an AWESOME writer.
Two stars, because the female character was to weak and pathetic, I get the whole sub and dom thing but jeez really, it made me not want to keep reading, it's a standalone but I like how it gives you a little bit about the other books in this series.
DNF 80% Couldn't stand jack, he was self-righteous and didn't grovel at all even though he betrayed Mira twice and he just expected her to forgive him. Close to the end and their relationship was still abusive. No redeeming arc at all. And no it ain't a BDSM erotica book, nothing about their relationship was truly BDSM. Kinky? Yes. But even in BDSM there are rules (safe, sane, consensual, safewords) that give the submissive an "out" of the scene. Not here. Just because Mira is "wet" or gets to "come" and seems to be "okay" with what jack does to her in retrospect, does not mean she was a willing participant in the beginning. Even though "her body is willing" does not mean it isn't rape, if she says no. Jack is controlling, manipulative and constantly forcing his will on her. And no, I love you, is not an excuse for everything. At the end Mira's characters just seemed broken and without substance. And even though Jack is supposed to be an anti hero and this a dark romance, this book just pissed me off.
Hard Lessons is a seriously Dark Romance with all the necessary elements: hard, hot sex, lust, passion, violence, betrayal, dominate alpha hero and willful, but submissive heroine.
