Christmas has gone sideways for racecar driver, Aidy Westlake. Aidy’s grandfather, Steve, was just putting the finishing touches on a classic Ford GT40 he was restoring for a British millionaire when it was stolen from his workshop. They quickly establish that the supercar was stolen to order and is now in Moldova in the hands of the notorious gangster, Lupul. There’s a wrinkle. The police in Moldova don’t care. The theft of a rich man’s toy doesn’t rank high on their priorities. The client’s ultimatum is simple—cover his one million pound loss or recover the car by Christmas Day. With the threat of financial ruin hanging over his grandfather’s head, Aidy’s crew has only one option—steal the car back. This story takes place between the novels DID NOT FINISH and HOT SEAT.

An New Aidy Westlake mystery? Count me in! I love the series and when I saw that this novella was coming out on Christmas Day, I did not hesitate to one-click and I was not disappointed with anything except the fact that it ended quickly.
When Aidy and his grandfather Steve find a GTO40 stolen from Steve’s restoration shop they were of course devastated. However, it soon became clear that the thieves specifically targeted the Ford GTO in the shop and not the valuable tools and other car. When notifying the owner of the car, he gives them an impossible deadline of getting the car back in his hands by Christmas Day or suffer the consequences of having him not only sue them for half of what the car is worth but ruining the restoration business Steve has worked hard to build. Since this is a novella it’s high paced as of there was a race despite the fact that this is one Aidy novel without a race looming.
I've read every book Simon Wood has written. They are all five-star stories. In this novella, things are not going well for Aidy Westlake's grandfather. He'd just put the finishing touches on the classic Ford GT40 he'd accomplished for a British millionaire. Then it is suddenly stolen from his workshop. The car is believed to be in Romania but the local police are not interested in pursuing the theft ... being it had been taken from a rich British man. So ... Aidy and his team have only one option: steal the car back. An awesome story again which captivated me. Highly recommend.
Half Inched is an exciting, but dangerous, car theft caper. Half Inched is the perfect answer when a half million dollar car is stolen out from under you...you steal it back.
I really like Aidy Westlake, his grandpa Steve, and best friend, Dylan. Race car driving is not the only dangerous pass time these three are involved in. They have enjoyed breaking and entering in the past, and now they have car theft to add to the list. But they do it for the right reasons, have defied death, and come out smelling like roses in the end.
I love to read Simon Wolf's work, and this being a short story did not change anything. It was gripping from beginning to end, and as fast paced as a race car!
A fun read, short and sweet, hopefully these characters will have a new adventure soon. Could do without the foul language, and be just as entertaining.
