Set up like a real 'diary,' each date was listed with an accompanying crime. I didn't like that the entries were extremely short. I have a fascination with true crime, but because each one was only 2 pages at the very most, it was like someone was yelling 'death!' 'destruction!' 'horror!' at me again and again and it felt like too much.
A good collection of short, True-Crime stories that span the year. I liked that there were some stories from the 19th century, and early 20th century, and the book was easy to read because of things being in bite sized chunks. A good collection to read if you're a fan of True-Crime but don't want anything too heavy.
Strangely presented as a date-ordered list of short articles about murders, this was nevertheless interesting. The choice of subjects was broad and did not restrict itself to the most famous crimes which would be overly familiar, and the punchy format meant that murders were rendered in sufficient (but not excessive) detail. Not everyone's cup of tea, but informative.
Read this book years ago. Still the memory of everything written in the book is embedded in my soul. James bland has created a dateline of every crime that was brutal or less brutal, appealing as well as less appealing. Everything is just in perfect order. Loved it
