Not so much when you're on the other end of the equation. My groom-to-be dumped me the day before our wedding, but when the mysterious pack Alpha offers me the chance of a lifetime—to choose my own mate—my circumstances change overnight. Now I find myself torn between the ex-friend I've never quite gotten over, the pack's resident Mr. Right, and the one man I can't have: my ex-fiance's father, the Alpha himself.
I thought being abandoned hurt more than anything, but this choice is tearing me apart. More than just my happily-ever-after depends on making the right one.
This is a standalone approximately 26,000-word Reverse Harem novella with sizzling hot romance, for audiences 18+ only.
This novella was really well done that it had me hoping everything was going to work out. Which was amazing and made my read experience that more fun 😀
Courting The Alphas by River Ramsey Jessie was left one day before her wedding day. So the Alpha Darien lets Max and Laurent court her. She gets to choose which one to marry but she wants all Max, Laurent, and Darien. This is a wonderful story about shifters. I enjoyed the way the story built up to the decision of who was going to get to marry Jessie. I received an ARC and have voluntarily left a review. This is my honest opinion.
Suspenseful Romantic Mystery I loved this story, one you just can’t put down Really great characters, interesting erotic plot with a few twists..lol ....not giving it away...Smile.... I was given this in a free book giveaway and I voluntarily leave this review.
Well I certainly wasn’t surprised to find Ms River Ramsey had created a superb romantic relationship for us to enjoy, plus throughout the whole book you honestly don’t know if there is going to be a HEA especially considering, Jessie being an Omega, seemed to have a really hard time realising that she could be in a loving relationship if she wanted, especially when the wolf she was going to marry/mate chose to walk out on her to be with someone else. Jessie had always honestly believed that finding love was not something an Omega had a choice over. Whoever she mated, she would certainly care about, and the love would grow between them, but both the Omega and the Alpha were destined to pair with someone that benefits the pack and producing pups. Since Jessie’s mate chose another, the pack Alpha decided that Jessie could actually get a choice with who her mate would be, considering her prior mate caused her major humiliation, this time Jessie could choose from the unmated Alpha males, which to her was both a daunting process as well as a brilliant one because she Jessie was actually being given a choice with her path in life while picking a strong loving caring partner. The Alpha of her pack Darien gave Jessie the news and she couldn’t believe it she just wished that Darien was on the alpha list even though she knew she was not Luna material, but because she was an Omega her physical desires are built to be much greater to ensure the continuation of the pack. Max and Laurent both become extremely important in the courting ritual and Jess knew no matter who she picked, someone was going to get hurt, could she suck it up and choose one of them or was she going to have to get one of them to look after her during her heat and then end up on her own or can she actually make a choice. I couldn’t put the book down, and a couple of times throughout the book, Jessie was quite upset and emotional. Trust me, I also lost a few tears. Well written and presented with alphas that really supported and cared for the pack, plenty of female’s trying to cause issues and enough drama to keep the curiosity flowing. A great read one. I highly recommend that you take the time to grab.
Jessie is an Omega in her pack who was recently promised to an alpha as a mate. However, her groom-to-be breaks off the wedding a day before as he discovers his 'Destined love' who is from another pack. Heartbroken and approaching her 'heat' period, she is surprised when the Alpha of the pack offers her a choice between 2 eligible unmated alphas in the pack.
It is a short story, a fun read. The characters and the plot were not well-developed. It was a fast-paced romance, so it would have been ideal for more erotic scenes... so I was disappointed that it did not have a lot of smut.
The characters, especially the alphas, didn't seem like the typical alpha type. They were portrayed as big softies. I guess if the story was a bit longer, it would have established the behavioral differences within the pack members.
The pack settings were different from the typical packs too, with the 'Destined love' concept and many alphas within a pack (I would suggest reading Feral Sins by Suzanne Wright if you would like to read a series with many alphas in a pack).
The cover is pretty charming, which was one of the reasons I chose to read this in the first place. The "why choose" reverse harem theme is another reason why I wanted to read it. Though it didn't exactly meet my expectations, it was a good read. It might have done well with a longer plot and better character development. However, if you want to read a short and sweet reverse harem shifter romance, this is a nice one to relax with.
Pros of reading this book: - Very cutesy and light story - Very short - Well written to a certain point.
Cons: - I felt like the dialogue and the personality of the characters were very shallow and childish. - Too much unecessary details. - Scenes that were long, didn't add to the plot and were very forced, almost as if the author lacked creativity creating them. Explaining further:
With all the respect, this was one of the worse books I've read this year. I tried with all my strenght to try and finish, but I just couldn't. What bothered the most, were how the scenes were layed down and felt so...forced. Unreal. The same. It's a shame cause' it is a nice plot, and I like the range of different personalities, ages and maturity of the love interests. It's a nice touch. One of the things that definitely made me kinda unconfortable were the fade to black scenes. And while some weren't, it felt almost as if the author was censoring themselves. Also, it's of an extremely low pace and it has such entanglement that...I don't know. One positive thing that I found in the book was the amazing writing of the author; I really really liked it. If the story was better outlined and more thought of, maybe it would be more enjoyable. Just making clear that this is only my opinion and as I was seeing in the latter reviews, lots of people liked it then maybe this was just a me problem. Anyways, wish her and this book the best. <3
I was a bit confused that there were so many alphas in a pack. In other shifter stories I've read, there's only one Alpha, the leader of the pack; other alphas can't stay because they would be too powerful and would end up challenging the Alpha for leadership of the pack. So I couldn't understand how Laurent, Max, and Damien could all be alphas and in the same pack.
Other than that, I felt like the three men didn't really have distinct personalities. They're all very sweet to Jessie, kind and thoughtful and patient and caring. It was weird and unnatural. There was no jealousy of each other (after all, they are rivals until Jessie has made her choice) and no jockeying to try to win Jessie's favour. Everything went smoothly despite the fact that all of them wanted her and she thought she would only be able to choose one of them.
I also wasn't sure if I was okay that she had sex with them before deciding. If it were a ménage I wouldn't mind, but to individually have sex with the guys when she hasn't chosen which one to be with made me think of the reality tv show, The Bachelor and ... I don't know, it's a bit ewww when a person sleeps with A but knows they might end up choosing B instead. Not very fair to A, is it?
Novella. This is a teaser book that could be a stand alone but I believe as a novella it is a precursor to a much larger series. 3.5 stars as it is a basic introduction to get the reader hooked. Characters are introduced but not developed as such in a full length novel.
Short but fun read. I am interested to see where this series goes so author mission accomplished. Just wish that there was more to the story though it then would not be a novella.
In Summary:
A jaded bride, not even left at the alter but day before. More precarious is the oncoming rush or heat a werewolf experiences. For an Omega like Jessie it's going to be way worse.
Olden traditions long left in the past are now her only options. Will they allow her to fulfil her heart's desires with this courtship of alphas?
I've just begun dipping into the Reverse Harem genre, so I've been trying novellas and stand alones. This was a freebie on prolific works and it was decent.
There is insta love (but it's a shifter book, that's not a surprise), blink and you'll miss it bonding, and every thing happened at break neck speed. All that and I gave it 3 stars because I liked all four leads (I tried not to mind that Darien was a widower... after all, he is sharing his new wife with her two consorts, lol).
Beware a dumb misunderstanding and very flowery language used in the intimate scenes (which are all m/f).
Don’t mind me over here grinning like a loon. I loved this book. It’s short with enough steam that it’s not overwhelming or groan worthy. It had me muttering that it had better be why choose. And guess what? It is. I loved the chemistry between the three guys and Jessica don’t get me wrong but I was doing a happy dance and squealing when she admitted she had feelings for Max. I’m hard pressed to find something I didn’t like even the fact it was predictable didn’t take away from the joy of reading this book. If you love wolf shifters, reverse harem, why choose romance then this is the book for you. ⭐️all of them 💧all of them
A quick read with an unconventional happily ever after. A jilted bride gets the chance to choose her own mate rather than having it be a foregone conclusion. When she realizes instead of falling for one she falls for all of the men she faced with an impossible decision. Both good and bad. I’m a fan of the author and this book is a fine addition to their catalog. I wish it were a longer more flushed out story I think there’s great potential. All in all though an enjoyable way to pass an hour or two.
providing an honest review after receiving a cmplementary copy from the author via BookFunnel.
this book was only ok.
if soulmates are a thing in this books world why is there not more room for people to find their soulmate? what is with all the arranged marriage stuff? a little old world are the dowries as well?
i did not believe the chemisty in any of the relationships. she had three guys to pick between and decides to pick all three and they are all for it. meh just didnt feel this one.
I think 1 star is generous. I saw another comment describe this as “erotic” and “thrilling” and a “mystery.” Not sure how they came to that conclusion, bc there’s none of that.
Theres was very little character depth, no real connection between FMC and MMC’s, and the spice? In the negatives. I’ve never read a RH with this little detail
I also think this may have been a self publish? Some things just didn’t flow together nicely and I found some typos that should’ve been filtered out (I read the kindle version)
This was such a cute story! I had no idea it was a reverse harem so about 80% of the way, I was dying to know who she'd pick. I was honestly struggling with who I liked more but I'm so happy she didn't have to choose. Only complaint, I wish there was more. It was a fast burn that definitely could have been expanded so we got to know the guys a little more and our main gal, but I'm not disappointed enough to knock off a star for that. I'll definitely be re-reading in the future.
Fairly well written, a decent and fun read, but nothing really stood out. No major drama, just a few bumps in the road leading to the predictable ending. The plot was simple, the romance rather corny, and the characters lacked complexity, leaving the story somewhat bland. While there's potential, I wished for a longer, more developed narrative. Despite it´s flaws, the book still provided an enjoyable reading experience.
It was a free novella for signing up for the author's newsletter, so my expectations were low (they're always low for novellas) and my expectations were pretty much met.
I wanted the cheating fiancé to pop back up and be a problem at the end, but the mean girl drama was conflict enough. It wasn't bad and was easy to read. It did its job and entertained me 🤷🏻♀️
Jessica was to be mated but he pulls out for his true mate.. now Jessica is left no know whats going happen next, with only a few weeks left until she experiences her first rush... Her alpha tell her something unexpected and now she must make a choice.. who will she pick...
Jilted by her intended, she is given the opportunity to choose her own mate. The story is of the courtship of her by different members of the pack and her ultimate choice. It is a sweet story with a HEA ending. I would recommend this book for a quick, light read.
Oh my goodness!!!! What a wonderful story!!! The characters were wonderful and the writing was superb!!! Couldn't get enough! Wish there had been more at the end like a "A year after" chapter or something but I loved the story!!!!
Oh what can I say! I could not put this book down. I love all the emotions she is able to put in this single story. I am totally hooked! I wish there was more to keep reading this love story.
This was a short and sweet story. I loved this omega story with how she gets to choose. I’ve read this story several times and it’s a feel good happy story.
