After losing his sight, once dynamic Kells Grant is convinced his life is over. He moves to a derelict ranch to face his misery alone.

But the ranch isn't entirely deserted. A caretaker with a colorful past lives next door, and he isn't put off by Kells' gruff manner. Eliot is unlike anyone Kells has ever met before. Laid back, quick to laugh, and easygoing, Eliot puts light back in Kells' life.

If he can overcome his self-doubt, Kells might just find that he still has so much to live for.

Hi, I'm Arabella! I've been a writer all my life, constantly creating stories with romance, angst, and - as I got older - mature content. For the past several years I enjoyed writing fanfiction, during which time I developed a distinctive writing style and gained confidence in my ability to tell a compelling story. Now, I'm focusing on sharing my original works with the world.

If you're looking for steamy, often LGBT+ themed, tragic and romantic stories, you've come to the right place.

The third book in my 'More than Most' collection, "After Dark," was just published. I am currently working in a new series called 'Love Is' - five stories of unconventional romance.

Third book... different from the first two as the author attempts to stick to one POV; that of Kells a newly late in life blinded MC. However, she gives us an epilogue from the other MC, Eliot which tries to straddle both worlds and misses the mark. This would have been stronger either without the switch at all or as a carefully contained dual POV story throughout. Basically, Eliot summarizes the entire book in 4 or 5 pages in his own internal POV.

Kells knows Jackson and Asher from book 2 and meets Eliot through them. I don't remember if either of these characters were actually in book 2 but that is the connection in this one. Eliot was a contemporary of Ashers at one time. Fortunately this book finds itself much more sex worker positive again like book 1 rather then the negativity of book 2. It also manages to describe Asher poorly (low self esteem, etc) from book 2 that were not problems he seemed to have before he met Jackson, but I'll let that go I guess to focus on this book.

It's interesting to have an MC attempting to overcome a disability but the stark writing/telling vs showing of the author's writing style made it very hard to empathize with Kells when we need to really bond and agree to go on his journey with him. I struggled with his personality throughout the book. His depression coupled with the caustic interaction with the world was off putting and resolved much too quickly after his first apparently, magical solo orgasm. Part of this is that the book was much, much too short for as much story as the author was trying to tell. There is so much missing from the backstory that neither Kells nor Eliot feel like real people. Where is Kells' family or Eliot's? How did Eliot find himself working as an escort? How does Eliot have any idea how to train horses? Where did Kells ride horses as an MP in the Army? (Pretty sure they discontinued that in the early 90's.) How does a blind person teach himself how to read braille from a book? What happened to Eliot's hand after the injury? Honestly, as I start asking questions right now, I have to force myself to stop or I would probably run for paragraphs.

So, in all, I liked the book better than the second in overall tone. The writing style was tightened up but seemed less fluid than the 1st book where she struggled with head hopping POV's but had vastly more interesting characters and an easier time telling the story.

A fun relaxing read with a dash of emotion with the fluff

This mostly single POV story immediately jumps into the darkness. We meet Kells, a former US Marshal who has lost his sight. Angry and depressed, he wants nothing more than to retreat from the world with his dog, Dodger. He buys a ranch and buries himself under the covers, intending to sleep his life away. His plans are upended by Eliot, the caretaker of the former ranch who has stayed on to help out. Eliot, doesn’t try to intrude, but he slowly starts to make Kells do simple things, like know what time it is and what is where in the kitchen. At first, Kells repeatedly shuts the door in Eliot’s face, but Eliot’s easy-going nature and warm laugh worm their way past his defenses. Eliot soon becomes the star of Kell’s erotic fantasies, but he has no plans to approach the other man, he feels that part of his life is over. When Eliot admits he’s attracted to Kells, things change and they begin a sexual relationship and Eliot slowly re-introduces Kells to the world.
I enjoyed this short, lightly angsty story very much. I did wish we could get more from Eliot, not necessarily his POV, but learn more about his past. Kells, as well, has a limited amount of backstory. We never learn about his family, where he grew up, etc. those things aren’t necessary, but would have pushed the story into the five star range for me.
Regardless, this was a fluffy, sexy read with a steady, but climatic plot. Eliot tames Kells much the way he would gentle a horse, giving him his space and allowing him to make the moves, but Kells must dive into the unknown when Eliot needs him most.

It was fun to get a peek back at Jackson and Asher from Bound to Please and I’ll be eagerly awaiting a new book by Arabella Faith!

excellent

Faith's work is always lovely and their humour wry and clever and this one is no exception. I loved Kells and Eliot almost immediately and raced through this. Kells' depression seemed slightly too quickly cured but as an erotic story the shorter word count is normal. I was also left a little confused by Kells learning braille from a book - how did he read it? But I loved the story and I'll definitely be reading anything else Faith publishes :)

Really enjoyed this one. A good amount of humor and romance all wrapped together by great storytelling. I also enjoyed how all three of the books were lightly tied together in a way. It was a bit shorter than the other two but it happened to be exactly what I was looking for at that moment. A really great read.

Love the characters, love the dynamic, love the original circumstances. Don't see a lot of books like this in m/m romance, so it was an excellent dash of something new (at least to me)

I had some minor issues with the plot. Didn't seem to have much substance in that it ended up feeling like it was dragging, but the characters were so likeable and their dynamic was so immersive that it wasn't that big of a deal to me.

Very sweet

It was a lovely story line with beautiful characters! At times it seemed some minor details could have been added but still a great story!
