He might have got what he wished for, but it was far more than he bargained for. Ben desperately wanted to be part of Christian's Tribe but he wasn't one of the chosen. Enter Ta'xet, Haida God of Violent Death who takes him as his host.
Emily, a witch in search of her missing brother, made a risky deal with a demon. Now, out of options, she must join forces with the attractive, but scarily unhinged, teenager who clearly has problems of his own.
Unbeknownst to the pair, Ben's transformation has attracted the attention of an enemy from the past, and the entire Tribe find themselves the target of an exiled Guide and a Demon intent on manipulating time to change the past.
Ben and his Tribe must risk everything to keep the past where it belongs, but at what cost?
Series Reading Order:

Born on the mean streets of London, raised by witches, Jobie walked into a tattoo parlour on her eighteenth birthday and was claimed by Alectrona, goddess of the morning. Known for her ability to wake others from slumber, Alectrona turned her powers to bringing long-forgotten gods and goddesses to life through Jobie's books.
For many years, Jobie restlessly wandered the dangerous road between the Dark City and Magical Isle with only her two flesh-hounds and the laptop of purple fire for company.
Somewhere on the road, some say in Sin City - others are certain it was in the Viking Realm - she married her outlaw-biker soul mate.
Now they travel the road together. In places, the path is much overgrown, but she will not waiver from her mission until all the gods who wish to return to this dimension have successfully claimed their human hosts.
Loving this series so far, Flak is the only book that I've read in 24hrs (seriously)... Yes sad I know😬 Lol! Moving on swiftly. I spoke to the author yesterday to find out what had happened to the book Sophie, it's out December and Lexy out nxt spring. Enjoy✌
While we still get to see the characters we grew to love in Ink, Flak focuses mostly on Ben, Christian's best friend who bribed his way into the Tribe. He's feeling pretty down about himself because he hasn't heard from Christian, and he feels like an outcast in the Tribe.
Caught in a bad spot, he finds himself walking into the Ink shop, the same one that changed each of the Tribe member's lives. Imagine his surprise when he ends up with Ta'xet, the violent god of death. Ben has very little control over him and Ta'xet thrives on killing people. While it might be horrifying for some, Ben is a creative guy and Ta'xet feeds off his creativity. But then doesn't mean that Ben wants to walk around, constantly with violent urges to harm others.
Until he meets a witch, Emily, and for the first time in a day, Ben doesn't want to kill her, which instantly fascinates him. But the Tribe is searching for Ben because Ta'xet never comes to a person unless his counter arrives as well. Tia is the woman who can help calm those violent urges, they have a long history rooted in love.
But of course, there's more trouble on the horizon, and with a few new members to the Tribe, they need to start working together if they want to take down the crazed man who used to house Ta'xet, and they wouldn't all be here, if there wasn't more trouble on the horizon.
This is such a fun book, I'm really digging this series and I'm loving what Baldwin has done with the storyline and characters. It's almost always super non-stop action. I love all of the Tribe members and their abilities, it's very creative and unique. Definitely a series you don't want to miss.
Flak: An Urban Fantasy Adventure by Jobie Baldwin is an amazing story that I have read and fell in love with from the very begining. This is book number two in this amazing series that I have read and loved it. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about fantasy in their stories.

Baldwin definitely pens a great story in Flak. It's the second book in her Tribe series. I like Baldwin's writing style and how she introduces characters to the audience. The story may be intended for YA reading, but I enjoyed it. Ben is a very strong and enigmatic character. There is a great depth to the characters, even the Gods. I like the twists and turns of the plot and how it wasn't predictable. I look forward to reading more by this author and hope there's more in this series.
First DNF in a very long time. I wanted so badly to like this. I loved the backstories and the world but could not get into the writing style. There were WAY to many sentences that that started with "I". I know it is written in first person but the repetitiveness of the sentence structure made it a very choppy read for me.
If you don'd mind a little stutter and stop then this is I'm sure an amazing story.

A great read it’s a cross over between Jackson an potter.. cracking read an I eagerly await the third titled ravern.. great for young adults an my case a very big kid !!
Flak was an interesting read. The idea of trying to control the God of Violent Death within a human host has so many possibilities. Because Flak is the sequel in the Tribe series, I do recommend reading the series in sequence, beginning with Ink. Having read out of sequence, I was confused by the details of how the human members of the tribe were sharing bodies with their gods, and just how the gods would take control physically.
Also, Ben's character isn't exactly likeable. He lacks that inner compassion that most of us feel if not act on. This is especially highlighted when Tax'et goes on killing sprees. (The God of Violent Death lives up to his name.) Ben was an interesting character for Baldwin to focus on because of this. I wasn't always able to sympathize with Ben, but I did find myself rooting for him. Seeing him through Emily's eyes helped, although I feel like she's just used to dealing with difficult people because of her brother's own rough temperament. Without Emily with her compassion and humor, I would have given Flak three stars because Ben and Tax'et would be too cold-hearted if left to their own vices.
My overall take: The fight scenes were exceptionally vivid and flowed with such creativity. Ben is an odd bird that is hard to understand but has redemption qualities. Flak has a clear plot, but takes more time than I'd like to get going. It is predominantly character-driven and has many characters to explore. The characters shape this world into a place that draws readers in.

This is a kind of strange book, but I enjoy most of the characters. In the last book Christian found out that God's were real and could merge with humans as a Guide when the world is in trouble. In this one his best friend Ben ends up almost dying but recieves a Guide at the last minute. His Guide has a history with Raven, so his welcome to the Tribe doesn't go smoothly and Ben goes on a rampage.
In an effort to get his Guide under control he hides in a morgue, where he meets a witch. This witch seems to know how to help people who are out of control. She offers to help Ben in return for his help finding her brother. He finds out there is more then just God's and witches in the world but also demons.
This book has some twists, including people who should be dead trying to get back a Guide that is no longer their's. I will say that I find it a bit of a slow read and I would have finished it sooner but I did not have a lot of time. I still am interested in the rest of the series, but may take the time to read a couple other books first.
He was not one of the chosen and he is not happy but then a god takes over him like the other. She is a witch and she finds she needs to work with him. A guide and a god will appear as they want to change the past. Can they beat them? How will they do it? Follow their adventures

The gods can choose to infuse themselves in a human body, but some are more powerful than others, and they don't always have humanity's best interests in mind. Add in a witch who made a deal with a demon, and you don't know what to expect. I'll be patiently waiting for the series to continue.
