Who knew...
Nia & East's marriage really took a turn after a birthday surprise turned into a disaster. Definitely an example of a "no good deed goes unpunished" story. Great detailed explanation & a well written addition to the series. Good read

I was really skeptical about reading this book. I hate when authors ruin my happy ending. But this was well written and very relate-able. Great read!

Amazing

I was so upset and ready to throw bc of East, but after reflecting for a moment you saw the issue in part 1-3. This whole series taught me that communication is key to all related and thats how East and Nia face so many issues. But the series was great overall and so many gems. I cant wait to learn about Carmen and Nia and Eaat follow up story.

Relatable

Nako, so glad you wrote another book for Nia and East they are definitely one of my favorite couples. This book had me in tears because I saw myself and what happened to her. Sometimes I had to take a break from the pain in here. I love the fact you brought in a therapist to help them get to the root of the problems in their marriage. This book was beautiful and heartfelt. I highly recommend to any of your new readers.

What you won’t do the next woman will......try

I was very apprehensive when it came to reading about one of my favorite couples. I just knew he was going to cheat. But he the the ultimate. HE FEEL IN LOVE. Yes I know ppl cheat & things happen. So my question is what would have happened had he & Joya not experiences the tragedy? I have highlighted reread several things and I think that he was really in love with Joya & had they never experience that, there would have never been any changes there. He would have feel more in love with what they had. In his mind she was everything he needed always there for him mentally not the physical or financially. He was allowed to the the man he never felt like @ home. Now he has a chance to start over. She had given him something yet again the Nia wouldn’t. Nia never was there for the important things yet, she would drop whatever for him. Had things not happen they way they did would he have left Nia?He wasn’t even thinking about Nia or the kids how he was going to explain to them. Never crossed his mind. For almost 6 years they where together. Why?? He was in love with how she made him feel wanted. She did what she KNEW his wife wasn’t. Just like they all do. She knew she was always on her grind, Nia was business first always had been. And he felt lonely she she played on that. She played on his weakness.
Now the fall out. And he now remembers what he have with Nia. Even though you never left home never said you were leaving. He was still long gone from there. The disconnect was real, you still have love for even defending her to your wife. Yet this is what you want. I loved them together but I just don’t know.
On the other hand How could you as a woman be caught up that your man living a whole life. Ain’t that much success in the world. I guess with success we must sacrifice but don’t loose your home in the process. However communication is KEY but then again it’s your man you gotta know when he needs you most. Nako you took me through it with this one.

Decent

I haven't read a lot of Nako's releases after Orange Moon, but because this was a continuation of a great series, I thought I'd read it. There were some really good parts to the book. It's always great when a married couple of many years can overcome adversity, even of this magnitude. In my opinion, the woman is the treasure, especially a woman that has herself together. Having said that, East felt like he had value when he could do something for Nia that she couldn't do for herself, even something as small as bringing her lunch. When a woman does TOO much for a man, particularly things he cannot do for himself, his ego and pride sometime suffer. I hate to see a woman always doing something for or bragging on a man where there is no reciprocity. Sometimes there can't be any because he doesn't have the means, doesn't see it as love, or he simply doesn't love her like that. Nia and East never voiced truthfully what they needed from one another, a recipe for disaster. Tell me an ugly truth over a pretty lie. Had Joya and East's child lived, would he have still chosen Nia? Lordt, the betrayal of it all!!! As far as the supporting characters and the old gang, his time with Nas was well spent until he said he should've been with Lo. What stopped him I still don't know. Don't know why Jordon was portrayed with so much venom and Demi, who told it all, got so much love and excused because "it was all gonna crumble one day"... Joya needed to come up missing. Trifling at it's finest. But I guess if that applies to her it should apply to him too. I usually hate the book repeats, but in this case it was used to give perspective so I could dig it Crossing my fingers that Nas gets out. He needs a chance to redeem himself and right some wrongs. Everyone needs a Brina in their life. That ride or die ride or die. I'm confused about the timeline. When Nia and East met Netflix and IPhones were referenced (iPhones came out in 2007). If this is 20 years later, it should be about 2027 not present day. Otherwise decent read.

Outstanding

IV The Huffington’s

When ever I read a book by Nako it becomes more than just a fictional book. These characters become more than just fictional characters. They become family, friends, and enemies. Nia and East has always been a power couple but in this book they have become something greater. I love how the author tackles some important topics such as infidelity, outside kids, therapy, healing, forgiveness, just to name a few. Nako dropped a lot of gems in this book. So many life lessons happened!

I loved the dynamics of the different relationships throughout this book. East’s sister finally has a name hope y’all caught that nugget because I did. Nako ass ain’t slick honey. I caught it!!! The relationship between Nas and East was so genuine & I love how Nas no matter where he is he always keep it real. 🗣FREE MY MAN NAKO NAH SHIT!

As it relates to the supporting characters though: 1. Demi- even though she’s appeared to have grown tremendously in this book I will never forgive her. RIP PAPA. 2. Carmen- I love her hopefully she gets a book🤞🏾because there is so much more to this character. 3. FUCK JORDYN bitter bitch just needs to kill herself 4. FUCK JOYA 5. I loved Brina.

I’m super excited about what Nako has in store for her readers.

Is Nasir coming home??? Let is bombard Heaven on Nas behalf I just need 2 or 3 lol(dead serious)

Great Job Nako!

Another Good Read

I enjoyed the book as much as parts 1 thru 3. I'm kind of torn because I wanted East and Nia to be that almost perfect couple but then Nia was reading like a goddess so we got to see her human side.. I felt like Nia caused her own problems by having that threesome with Joya. She mixed business with personal and look what happened. Married men shouldn't need that once they take vows. That's something that should be done while single. I think if East cheated with someone else, it wouldn't have had such an impact on their lives. Joya was stupid messing with a married man whose wife got her career started and who never said he was leaving his wife. She should've said no tower Niagara from the start. She was a side piece who didn't stay in her lane. This story had nonstop drama and I was here for it. But, it drug on. I thought Nia was doing too much with the weight and hair loss and hiding out in her bedroom. Everybody needs a minute after something so traumatizing but not 6 to 9 months. she had teenage kids to watch and a business to run. I hung in there though because the story was so good. The ending was perfect. I like how Nako put herself in. I thought that was cute and it was hinted that we may here more from Nasir King. I hope so because I miss The Underworld. Now I'm waiting for Carmen's story. We keep hearing about her but who is she? This was a other good Read by Nako.

Making it Happen!!!!

Only and I say this again Only Nakoreya Aka Nako can make me feel like the sky is truly mathafreakin blue and it’s a 100 degrees when it is 12inches of snow and 0 below !! Talking about taking it to the head I can never say this is my favorite because all of her books are my favorite ❤️. Being soo passionate about your work, I resonated with Nia soo much! It does cause rifts, cheating and break-ups and only the strongest survive. Nia and East were friends first and that unconditional love only comes one and only in the rarest twice in a lifetime. Thank you Nako for keeping our Underworld alive and OMG...its time to bring our men home or go live in St Lucia’s!Joya got caught up but with her upbringing she knew better but no judging because no one is perfect and East knew better. I love how this story incorporates the truth and even through it all East and NIa still loved it other. Normalcy of unforgiveness, distrust, screaming, the children’s feelings , children’s involvement and everything that should happened happened. I see Jordan still on hatin shid......I was sooo glad to see friendships still are in tact. But the ending though? I could not stop screaming👌🏽UW lives forever. Nako you are truly wise beyond your years and the ✍️ is a million ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️!

When your favorite author drops a surprise book that you had no idea was coming you contemplate calling out of work. Thats how serious a book by Nako is. Everything stops and you immediately edit your whole schedule to fit her work of art in. Nia is the definition of self made girl boss. In love with a Brooklyn thug IV was something I was not expecting. Everyone thinks that money makes you happy or success is the ultimate goal forgetting that none of that means anything if you are lonely and don't feel loved by the person that promised you forever. I felt for East and usually as women we always side with the women instead of considering the mans feelings. East was suffering in silence while married to Nia. 24 hours a day Nia's mind is on go mode and money to be made so she neglects her husband which ultimately leads him to another woman. Every relationship in life depends on open communication, no secrets and trust. Life knocked this couple down but they held on for the ride and prevailed in the end. I loved every page and it gave me something to look forward to. Its like a guide for my future marriage and really opened my eyes to the endless triumphs that husband and wife will possibly face and battle. Job well done Nako. I can truly tell that you love your readers. You gave us a surprise book that we had no clue was coming and included the infamous Underworld family that we all hold dear to our hearts. NRG got your back for life!

NAKO DOES IT AGAIN!!!

Nako has done it again, her writing is brilliant, honest, and smart. Her ability to create relatable characters is noteworthy as they too grasp at your soul. I often wondered what happened to East and Nia, imagining their happy ever after. This book focuses on just that, the premise that things don't always go as we imagine. Life takes us through all sorts of twists and turns, and that's what this book did. Moreover, it shows that African Americans should not be ashamed of getting therapy, whether individual and or group. Everyone needs someone to listen without judging. The familial relationship aspect was amazing, family's need one another! Mother's and father's teach the children right from wrong and never let outside influences alter that bond. I loved this book so much that I am gonna re-read the series over again, lol. Nako you are amazing and have truly outdone yourself again! Bravo!!

Always a five star review, Truth be told i wasn’t expecting this book at all. Pleasant surprise my heart goes out to East i really felt for him wholeheartedly in this book men need love there sensitive souls, and yes i felt Nia could of dealt with things better she could of respected him more but east is the man he needed to man up with he’s wife, As for an affair for 6 years boy you are bright and you showed your wife no respect to be carrying on for so long, But in hindsight I’m glad there marriage is bounced back cause Nia is a real one she’s through! As for bitter jordyn she wants everyone to be bitter and cold like her!!!
I’m always down to hear what’s going on with Mr King sound like an appeal could be in the works I’m patiently waiting.
Demi deserves happiness she needs to give it her full 100 percentage

Amazing!!

This book was everything. I truly went thru it with both East and Nia. Although I felt her pain - six years my nigga! - East's side resonated with me... had me in here reflecting on how I do my man... does he know he's appreciated? Am I there for him like he's there for me? Great insight into the plight of being a woman (a successful woman) and prioritizing between career, husband and kids. Who comes first? Also loved the fact that they were healed through therapy, black people need to know that there is no shame in talking to someone about your issues. Can't heal what u dont reveal. This book was simply amazing, too many topics to touch on ( forgiveness, compromise, healing, communication, fidelity, friendship, trust, threesomes, self reflection, moving on, cheating...)! Thank you Nako

Must Read!!!

This book was a page turner from beginning to end. The author pulled me in only a few pages at the start of the book. Book IV was the best out of the whole series in my opinion. When I say my blood pressure was elevated throughout this book, baby Nia was a strong women! East and Joya were wrong on so many levels, the way they betrayed Nia it was a miracle they both survived this book! East should have communicated with his wife before he decided to cheat. Yes, his wife should have been there for him like he was her, but you have to communicate. I will say I’m glad that the couple went to therapy and worked out their relationship. Nia was one strong woman, and she truly loved her husband and fought for their marriage. Nia came from nothing and became the HBIC! Nia went through a lot and still came out on top! Loved this book and the author!

Nako always delivers

This is my favorite out of the entire series. I love the growth that was portrayed. The problems that occurred in this book came from what I said in the other books...communication. Both East & Nia we’re having silent cries and the other just didn’t pick up on it. Book 4 was filled with so much raw emotion. You had no choice but to feel the pain Nia & East we’re going through. Although East was painted to be the bad guy (not taking away from his indiscretions) Nia could very well be looked at as the same. Nia is a true girl boss and throughout the series she never took that hat off to be a wife. Mix that in with poor communication and you have a recipe for book 4. Great series.

To the best author I know!

I’ve been married for 27 years, so this book was like a outlook on my husband and our life. The reality is, every long term relationship goes through their ups and definitely their down moments, but when you know you have your soulmate, you will fight every obstacle that gets in the way. This book was a glimpse of my life with my husband and how Nia and East fought through a very sensitive and difficult time. INFIDELITY is real ladies, but so is true love with your soulmate. Pick and choose your battles when it comes to your partner. It works in the long run! Love you Nako, as I always say to you, “you done it again”! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

Loving aBrooklyn Thug: Book 4

Wow! Talk about Emotions running wild! As a reader it took 3 attempts to actually read this one. Not only have the characters grown from Book 1 to Book 4, but this talented writer has to.
Nako has always entertained her readers ,but now she also drops knowledge, teaches life lessons, and inspires you to do better.

Nia and East’s issues were so real it made your heart hurt as their
pain jumped off the pages. There were so many lessons to be learned in their story. So many topics covered such as infidelity,SIDS,diabetes, sex, religion, friendship, therapy & love.

Emotional, heartfelt, and a solid example of what happens when you neglect the one that you love. We sometimes get so caught up in our on personal careers that we end up neglecting our spouses and/or families. Nia was so self-centered and solely focused on her career that she did not even notice that her husband was cheating on her for 6 years, and with a woman that she brought into her bedroom. Nia was so busy consoling her friends that she missed and dismissed all of the signs and silent cries from East. Nia left East in the wilderness alone and he ultimately found solace with another woman.

NIA AND EAST
Thank you Nako for bringing my favorite couple back. I thoroughly enjoyed and loved every minute of this book. Nia and East story definitely brings out a lot of emotions regarding their marriage with East infidelity. But Nia wasn't as innocent as well. There are ups and downs, secrets are revealed but through it all their love for each other never stopped. I was glad they sought therapy to help them with their lack of communication and healing. Nako knows how to tell a story and give her characters life so that the reader feels as though they are right there as that scene plays out. Amazing job. Highly recommend reading this series it doesn't disappoint.

Great insight on a marriage we thought would be prefect!

I enjoyed the book so much. It allowed me to have an look from the males p.o.v. and it was well written. Although cheating should never be the way to handle miscommunication and misunderstandings. Males and females handle situations differently, men tend to seek while women put their energy into something. I can definitely relate I to have gone through this in relationships and my marriage , it's no excuse for cheating. I love the therapy sessions, it should be used more and not thought of in a bad light. Overall, no relationship is perfect you have to take the good with the bad...well done I loved it!

So, I definitely read this book out of order. I read Book 1-3 during the beginning of the Underworld series and then I tried to read 4 but it contains spoilers. So I think Part 4 should be read after The Sentencing and before Son of a Don.

Now some people would say that Nia is stupid and must be insecure to take East back after cheating. However, we the readers know that she is confident and East isn’t cheating because Nia is ugly or he is being greedy...there is a void that Nia isn’t filling and East has not learned how to communicate to his woman. Read this book to find out what happens to the couple after his affair (this time) is exposed to the world!

I get it. Love covers a multitude of sins, East….. HELL to the NAW! Since he wanted to wait like 3 books to use his mouth? And he felt like the only way to communicate was using his penis??? We would have just been friends. He made my heart hurt the way he treated Nia! That was so tragic. Then the kids saw it too! I get that they both had flaws and things to work on, but he was doing way too much. The therapist had me writing a letter to myself Lol! Forgiveness is really powerful. The message was good. But East was overwhelming and difficult for no dang reason. It’s unfortunate that logic goes out the window with good sex and they can’t see straight.

Shocked

I was shocked by this whole book. I got why East did what he did but it still blew me away that HE did it. Truthfully, Nia was the exact same throughout the series. Work always came first and he knew that. This answers questions I had from the most recent underworld books. I personally would never be able to trust him again. He could have chosen a random person to have an affair with, not someone Nia built up. How disrespectful. And how awful that she didn't pick up on that he had this affair for six years. And then he really never seemed remorseful about the affair. He WAS a favorite but now I'm side eyeing him.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!

So shocked and surprised when this dropped! Nia and East are one of my absolute favorite couples in the Underworld!! I admire Nia for her strength and her tenacity. I also loved to see a more sensitive side of East....their love story is unlike any other and i am IMPATIENTLY waiting to find out what is going on with Nas and his news! Overall if i could give this book 10 stars i would! Nako gets better with every book she writes! And I’ll read every single one! Keep writing! And I’ll keep reading!

Unexpected, Hurt, Confused 🤷🏾‍♀️

As I sit here and get in my feelings behind reading in love with a Brooklyn thug 4. This book is taking me on an emotional rollercoaster as well putting me in a place to think about my life. I have never been married for whatever reasons but I have watched friends go thru certain things that I learn from.
The problem was not effectively communicating about the issues going on. Nia was asking questions that I felt only pissed her off but hay they worked thru it and moved forward
