The first in a brand new romantic adventure series by award winning Scottish writer, D A Nelson.
When top archaeologist Nina Esposito finds a famed treasure hunters’ journal, she knows it will lead her to a long-lost Roman necklace. But when an ex and a rival archaeologist come on the scene, things don’t go quite to plan as the pair battle out for the right to her heart. Added to the mix is the shady character of a local billionaire who will stop at nothing to snatch the jewels from under her nose. Now she has to navigate through her confused feelings and concentrate on finding the necklace before anyone else does. Failure just isn’t an option.
Hellow! My name is Dawn and I'm an award winning writer of both books for adults and children. I live near Loch Lomond on the west coast of central Scotland.
Being Scottish, you'll find many of my books have links to or are set in Scotland, although there are a number of other, more exotic (and less cold and wet ;-) ) settings too! For adults, there's my two novels, Greed and Envy, which are part of the brand new Sisters of Sin series coming out this summer 2022. I've also written two of the Nina Esposito adventure romance series (Dusting Down Alcudia, is now available as an e-book, paperback and large print; the sequel, The Jacobite's Share are also available in the same formats) and my standalone dark comedy, Everything She Wants. For kids, there's my award winning fantasy series, DarkIsle (consisting of DarkIsle, DarkIsle: Resurrection and DarkIsle: The Final Battle) plus by non fiction title, A Children's History of Glasgow.

Thank you so much to D A Nelson for sending me a review copy of this book (and for your patience while I read the books and wrote up the reviews!). I believe I actually got the large print copy? But it's the same content so I'm posting my review here.
I liked the character of Nina. She is headstrong and determined which is something that I like to see in a character. She's also hilarious and stubborn. A lot like me.
I actually really liked the character of Aunt Rosita, it felt like she was a real person and she was quite funny at times.
The mystery element was really intriguing and I just HAD to know more about the treasure.
Personally, this book gave me Lara Croft and Indiana Jones vibes due to the treasure hunting element.
The story was quite paced and I liked the writing style. It was as though I was watching a movie at some parts. This book is simple but enjoyable, a light read; perfect for beginners to the world of romance books or a nice summer's day. It also has humour, which was very enjoyable. It actually made me laugh out loud which is not something I experience with books often.
The characterisation was good, I even found myself loathing Roberto when he first came on the scene because of what he did to Nina so I really empathised with the characters. I also loved how it switched between the diary and the present time. It was a great contrast.
I put this book down for a day or so and I actually spent most of those days thinking about this book. The only warning I can give you about this book is that it's addictive 😂.
This book was exciting and enjoyable and if anyone's looking for a light read with romance and missing treasure, you might like this book.

You have foreign travel, a buried treasurer, a hunky, handsome man and a little bit of danger. These elements of the story keep you turning the pages, drawing you in to the story more and more with each turn of the page. A simple, yet enjoyable read, perfect to start off the season of spring.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
What a fun, fast-paced story, where the reader gets to travel around the world with Nina, Roberto, and Jay in their quest for the treasure of a lifetime. Don’t miss this romantic adventure with enough twists and turns that keep you turning the pages.
As a young child Nina would listen to her father telling her tales of long ago about a girl named Aelia. The love of her life left for war but before he did, he presented her with a necklace so she would not forget him. After hearing that he had been killed in battle, Aelia had died there and then from a broken heart. To this day no one knows where Aelia and the necklace lie. Even though Nina had heard this story over and over she always willed her father to share them, fascinated on where the necklace could be hidden.
Nina Esposito, an archaeologist working at the British Museum. All grown up but never forgotten the tales of Aelia, comes across a journal belonging to a treasure hunter. Combing through the journal in the hopes that it may lead her to the lost Roman necklace. Nina decides to take action and find the treasure herself.
Of course, this story isn’t that straight forward! Nina’s adventures take her to Mallorca to a small town called Alcudia. Mix that with a local billionaire, a rival archaeologist oh and an ex of Nina’s and you have yourself a juicy story!
This read has everything you need for pure escapism. The descriptions of Mallorca were on point making me feel like I was on the adventure with Nina. I loved that the book included a little romance too as well as the fast paced action, keeping me on my toes with a few twists thrown in for good measure. Nina is most certainty the female version of Indiana Jones!
'Dusting Down Alcudia' has already been lent out from the library of Hannah! I cannot wait to read more of Nina's adventures! Fab read!

Foreign travel, handsome men, buried treasure and a bit of danger. Why is my life not like this? Why, because this is pure escapist fiction and we all need that. Forget the obvious holes in the plot and that the end is rushed; just enjoy it for what it is - a good, easy read to help the reader escape from the realities of daily life. That's what it did for me and I enjoyed it.
