When it comes to books and movies, Brynn Paulin has one rule: there must be a happy ending. After that one requirement, anything else goes. And it just might in any of her books.

Brynn lives in Michigan, where she likes to spoil her children and dogs—not necessarily in that order. She also loves to cook, travel and spend far too much time on social media. She enjoys mentoring and meeting new people and is always willing to chat. Personally, she finds great pleasure in spending time with her family and dogs, as well as volunteering around her community.

First published in June 2007 by Ellora's Cave, Brynn is the author of over 130 books, including the bestselling Daly Way and Taboo Wishes series.

According to Brynn, her writing success can be attributed to an eclectic collection of music, her local road construction crews, a trusty notebook, and of course, the people in her life who’ve finally accepted that everything is research—or will be.

Brynn loves to talk to her readers and can be found at www.brynnpaulin.com.

I liked this story a lot. Take one Pedriatrician, take one psychologically scarred woman...vanilla relationship isn't working but both have secret desires and needs and their BDSM D/s relationship experiences begin to develop, which are erotic and beautifully described.
Quite a lot of psychology and healing is included in the story through Dick and Jane's relationship trials. Bryn Paulin is an experienced writer and this is another of her good stories. My only criticism is far too many of her sentences start with the conjunctives And or But, many of which could and should be avoided..it is a lazy trait or bad habit that her editing team should have picked up on. This withstanding I have given this story four stars.

Hilarious title aside - and, let's face it, it is quite lulzy - this really is a pretty good story. Considering the length of it (and my ever lasting "no space for development" issues), it has a lot of emotions packed up in a small space. It's not just hot sex-some more sex-happy ever after kind, and thus it feels more... human, let's say.
Not that there's anything wrong with the sex part. It's hot. Kinky. BDSM. But, there's something a little extra to it.

Not quite a four star thing, but still...

Somewhere between 2 and 2.5. The heroine really pissed me off. At first, it was a nice sort of reunited love story. Dick and Jane dated for three months, but Jane felt like Dick couldn't give her what she needed (she likes rough sex), so on the night he asks her to move in, she breaks up with him. OK first off... they haven't even had sex, and he's asking her to move in with him after three months?? Um, ok. So... it turns out that Dick is really a Dom and every woman he's ever dated he's met through the lifestyle. He meets Jane by accident and mistakenly thinks he needs to hide his true nature from her. He realizes his mistake and sort of creates a ruse to get her back to his house to show Jane what he's really like. That's all fine and dandy.

Here's where I get pissed off. He takes her to meet his family -- meet his family -- and his brother says something about him being hurt several months previous and mentioned something about revenge. She decides this whole thing has been about him getting back at her for leaving him and he's going to humiliate her. WTF??? Who the fuck goes through ALL of this -- even professes love -- for revenge? I mean, the guy had collared her by now!! And it's revenge? She really freaking believes this?? ARGH!!! Stupid woman.

Beyond that, the couple of things that were sort of "off" was the mention of the receptionist in his office having a crush on him... nothing came of that. Who freaking cares? If she's not going to become a stalker or have some kind of role in future events, who cares if she's pissed off/upset that the good doctor has found a playmate? And then Jane had a horrid childhood... she used to cut herself. Now I've never cut myself, but it seems that someone has some deep-seated issues if they're cutting themselves. It just felt like that part of the story wasn't given the respect it should have received. I almost felt like it was sort of pooh-poohed. I guess it wasn't, but I don't know. I'm not sure how to describe it. It just bothered me.

So this isn't my first Brynn Paulin story, and it's not likely to be my last. Besides the issues I had above, I loved Dick and how he knew what to give Jane to make her happy. They were super hot together (when she wasn't pushing him away). Lots of chemistry.

Jane is a real estate agent and gets a new listing, which is great, until she sees that it's her ex-boyfriend's house. She dumped him three months ago because, although he was gorgeous and sweet, she didn't think he could feed her need to be dominated; quite frankly, he was just plain boring. Uncomfortable as she is, though, she does her job and meets him at his house to take pictures and talk about the listing, but Dick has other ideas. He hid his Dominant nature because he didn't want to scare her off, but he's not hiding anymore.

This is a fairly short story, but it packs quite a punch. I felt for Dick, who subverted his own needs in an effort to ease Jane into BDSM slowly, then got dumped for being too vanilla. I think we've all tried to hide some part of ourselves, and it rarely turns out well. When he took charge and started showing his true nature, it made me all squishy inside; his Dominance was very sexy. Jane has issues, which of course affect her self-esteem, so she hides parts of herself, too. True submission is about trust, so she has to find a way to let Dick into those dark places, and Ms. Paulin handled it beautifully. I really enjoyed this book and will send it to my husband to read; we could both learn a lot from Dick and Jane.

When Jane's boss tells her he has a house that needs to be listed she is thrilled, until she sees the address. The house belongs to her ex, Dr. Dick Anderson. Jane broke up the the good Dr. 3 months ago because he was to vanilla and he couldn't give her what she needed, or so she thought.

Dick Anderson knows he screwed up. He tried to be someone he wasn't so he could ease Jane into the lifestyle that he lives. When she breaks up with him for being boring he vows to get her back and show her just how Dominate he is.

This is one of those novellas that reads like a full length novel. The emotions that are evoked are so real and complex and very relatable. This story really brings into light the need for complete trust in a D/s relationship. Not only in your partner but in yourself as well. Having been raised in a less than nurturing environment Jane struggles with self-esteem issues and this makes it harder for her to give herself fully to Dick, to believe that he will accept her for her. While I felt at times this book and Jane's character specifically could have been less introspective it was still a very engaging story filled with eroticism and scorching "scenes" and made for a very good read.

Dick Does Jane is a BDSM erotica by Brynn Paulin. Brynn Paulin knows the world of BDSM and the writing reflects the authors knowledge. There's nothing worse than an author faking their way through kink. Good job Brynn. This isn't my first introduction to the author and I'm happy to say I'm now a fan. In this story, Jane is a real estate agent and called to sign a new client. When she arrives, she realizes the house belongs to her ex-boyfriend. She really cared for him, but his vanilla life led her to believe they weren't compatible. Dick is the ex-boyfriend and owner of the house. As it turns out, he's not selling his house but trying to reconnect with Jane. When Jane discovers his BDSM room, she's shocked, excited, and skeptical. Jane was the first girl outside of the lifestyle that he dated and he didn't want to scare her away. He tried to appear vanilla, so he didn't scare her away...but vanilla was not what she wanted in a partner. Dick and Jane rekindle their relationship and are happy, until she hears that he wanted revenge on his ex...Jane assumes that he's only with her to break her heart and leave him. In the end, they communicate and work things out. It's very hot and again, is a beginner intro into the world of BDSM. Yum.

Good enough but too much back and forth for my liking - she loves me, she loves me not, he loves me, he loves me not, she loves me not, he loves me, he loves me not, I love him, he loves me!

There, that's the story - well, not that bad, but still back and forth a few times more than necessary. The story is more or less both characters keeping parts of themselves hidden and then confused when things go wrong. They finally work through it all, but Dick was a bit of a weak-willed Dom when he should have been strong and come on too strong when a lighter hand would have sufficed

Neither character really endeared themselves to me, and their reactions showed an immaturity.
