DI Simon Chaucer is on the run. Sought by a gang of ruthless criminals, and accompanied by an abandoned dog, the policeman flees London, seeking a refuge until it is safe for him to return home.
But when danger strikes, will Chaucer be able to protect the young woman across the hall from him, or the old soldier who lives downstairs?
My stories feature quiet men dealing with the problems life throws at them, and strong women overcoming adversity.
I write in a broad spectrum of genres, from classic westerns to historical LGBT, romance to gothic fantasy, as well as contemporary crime, horror and mystery. But, whatever the genre or the setting, my novels end with hope for the future, and more often than not a definite HEA.
As for me? Well, I am a happily married wife, mother and grandmother, living in the north-west of England where the rain is wet and the people are friendly.
Until recently I was a specialist teacher of children between the ages of 5 and 16 in a variety of educational settings. Having taken early retirement, I now spend as much time as possible either working on my next novel, reading, or wondering what to make for dinner.
This is a classic, not overly complicated hurt/comfort story with two protagonists put through the wringer and making it up to each other. Lovely secondary characters with the landlord and the whippet ;). Understated, very British writing style.
A nice crime&romance story ending in a HFN.
I received a free copy when the author was giving away this book.
Slower moving than expected, but never boring or dull with the excellent characters carrying the story beautifully. Realistic UK-based story without the depression and hopelessness. I’ll be looking for more from Leona Grace.
