The high ratings baffle me.. Why I'm reading the third book of this series baffles me.. Why doesn't it say anywhere that this is a spin-off? Why do I need to know what happens to this couple when I'm bored of most of the writing?? What on earth is wrong with me??

description

I don't even know how to write this review.. This author puts Kristen Ashley's OTT furniture descriptions to shame. SHAME!Every piece of furniture had a backstory! It's baffling. It's like the author has to reach a certain number of pages/words and she just goes nuts with it. The heroine is clutzy but doesn't break the priceless artefacts she cleans at work, has an overexuberant imagination(actual quote), is stunningly beautiful but doesn't realise how much, is a nerd and likes all popular culture under the sun, loves crafts, has a billion names and nicknames, bites her fingers when she's nervous, is not a morning person (morning monster was used here) and goes into tangents for every single one of these things.. It was like being in a mind of washing machine, endlessly spinning.

description

She's a strong heroine, with kickass parents that I'm assuming feature in another series. She can fight and is a badass opponent to everyone except the H. He appears and she just melts. I kept reading just so I could read about the big bad Alpha Vampire King fucking her (once a perv, always a perv) but that didn't happen in this book. It happens in book 2 which I skim read because more than half of it is from his POV reiterating fucking everything that has happened and without revealing all the secrets he's keeping from her. Like why he treated her badly to push her away from him and some other stuff he is incredibly vague about. So I guess that answers why I'm reading book 3, I'm a stupidly curious person and I need to fucking know.

description

I don't know if I'm in a cranky mood or if this is truly as bad as I think. Don't let me keep you from reading this. From the ratings alone, it's clear it's more of a me not you thing.

It’s hard for me to get into this book because for starters, it drags and drags and drags and drags... you get what I mean. And then the heroine is so unlikable. She could convince herself until she’s blue in the face that she isn’t the same naive, 21 year old girl who naively gave herself up to the Hero only to be humiliated, but alas, she’s still the same girl at 27 year old.

She’s actually a strong character but put the Hero in front of her and all of sudden she is a mumbling stutering mess—I almost felt sorry for her. At first at least. Seeing him again after so many years surely gave her a whiplash but then slowly she started to give the Hero the time of day then I just got annoyed. Honey, he humiliated you!! I don’t care if he had a good reason for it. And then you found out that he has feelings for your own mother! And you’re giving him the time of day as if it was nothing?

Their history would be a perfect set up for this—her giving him the cold shoulder and the man, the Alpha man to actually work for her affections. But no, of course she had to be a weak ass weirdo in front of him because she just couldn’t help it~~ Pathetic.

I liked this way more than I maybe normally would have, but these are trying times people! This was a free book that I was alerted to via BookBub, and for whatever reason it piqued my interest so I downloaded it and started reading it last night. Next thing I know, it's ridiculous o'clock in the morning and I am finishing the book! Just the type of escapism I needed, apparently more than I needed sleep. I'm picking up the next book :)

DNF

27 year old virgins with an inner monologue of a thousand year old turtle suffering from ADHD, who professes they hate the man that humiliated them enough to change their entire life but still turn into a pathetic mooning 14 year old at even the thought of him. 67 pages in and and most of them are full the MC inner ramblings and uneventful trips down memory lane.... *sigh

Whiny, immature 27 year old professional archeologist virgin is pursued by 1000 year old vampire king who broke her heart 7 years earlier. To be fair, he was a LOT older than her, she is the daughter of his boss, and they didn't actually have a relationship except for her little girl-esque crush, so I kind of side with the vampire on this one. He didn't so much break her heart as tell a spoiled brat princess "no." But I digress...
Despite it's terrible cover, the ratings and reviews (average of 4.13 out of almost 3000) led me to read this one hoping to discover a great new author. Having now finished it, I don't understand the reviews at all. I almost DNF'd first at 30% then again at about the 60% mark due to the horrible world building issues that kept the plot from making full sense. I have no desire to waste more time on this book, so I'm not going to list them all even though I do have a complete list. Early in the book, details are revealed that contradicted each other so much I thought I must have read it wrong. So I went back to the beginning and made notes each time some new aspect was described to the reader. Even the author's notes/warning in the beginning are a world building contradiction given that she warns of a steamy, mature adult book and all you get in this one is 1 kiss in the plot. It was so bad I'm embarrassed I did that now - spent time taking notes on a book this bad. The only reason I kept reading was to see if any of those issues were ever explained. Nope. In addition to all the world building issues, the book relies on paranormal romance clichés to fill in the rest of the plot. As if that wasn't already an insult to reading injury, the book then "ends" mid scene on a cliffhanger. I took notes and finished reading it against my better judgement to have the author slap me right across the face with a non-ending. Do I even need to spell out that I won't be reading the next one?

Gobbled this up in a day... I love this author... i read afterlife up to book 7 as i felt the story was getting way to dragged out so i stopped there. I started this with some prior knowledge of the world and its characters, which is a must when starting this book.

Dom and Keiras daughter (From afterlife saga) Emmie, Em, Amelia, Fae or Smock Has been dreaming of Lucius or Luc (my fave character from the afterlife saga, stoked he got his own book!!!!!) But their initial first meeting goes awry (reasons not yet explained) but it seems Luc is for some reason trying to keep her at arms length, she runs away becoming engrossed in history and artifacts and lands her dream job at the history museum in London..... Her dear ol dad comes a visiting giving her a box to decipher also bringing Luc back into her life... then chaos erupts......

I loved the Chemistry between Em and Luc but was so disappointing no steam

Just another reason i cant wait to get my hands on the next book!
Just hope the author doesn't drag this out to much and ruin it... Afterlife was going to be one of my all time favorites... but the kidnapping and Drama got a bit too YA for me ruining its initial premise and afer book 7 i really gave up caring what happened to the characters.... I was happy to get this book see they have all managed to survive happily up until now, without having to read all 12 books so silver lining.

But as for this book, Its as riveting as the first afterlife book, the characters are amazing the world building is great and the imagination is phenomenal..... plus a bit of London (although south west) cant wait for book 2!!!!

This book has got my panties literally twisted. I mean I loved Lucius from the start. Everyone was raving on and on about Draven but not me. I wanted to know more about the hot sexy vampire king. I loved this book. I absolutely adored it. Is it slow going? Sure.. does it have the biggest cliffhanger ever? Oh my god yes! But it’s to be expected by Stephanie who in my book is cliffhanger queen. After all she said that this will definitely be a saga which means that many books are going to come our way. So yeah patience is needed ❤️❤️

This was a very promising start to the series. The beginning really hooked me. I sailed through this book but DNF the second one. This book ends on a cliffhanger. I love vampire and paranormal romance. I wanted to love this series. Maybe I’ll give it another go at a later date.

Oh boy! Let me start by saying that I kept away from any and all blurbs, teasers and spoilers prior to picking up this book. I opened this book, started reading and about five pages in I got the biggest surprise and shock ever. I think my mouth actually hit the floor! What's the surprise, you ask? Buy the book and you will find out. By the way, I dont give away spoilers, ever, so if that's what you're looking for scroll to someone else's review. Now back to the book, be prepared. You will love it, at times. You will want to growl and rant at it. Yes, growl at the book. You will also be scratching your head and asking yourself WTF, at points in the story. Questions may be answered and hints will be dropped. Oh and the ending...well buy the book and you will find out!

The rates is so misleading, It isn't that good. Too many freaking details. Hatefull hero, childish heroine..
This is for the heroine. There's something called PTSD, And please, we, normal people, will not easily jump into the same hole over again after getting hurt so bad the first time. At least show some backbone, revenge first, or tell him and show him how much he has hurted you. Please. Have some self respect!.
For the Hero. Jerk! So you are handsome, so what? You are just one in a million, many strippers are handsome too. Just because people treat you high and mighty doesnt give you the right to treat her that way. Arrogant bas**d!
I Hate this type of hero so much.

What a great start to a new series. I don't want to say too much because if you know this author you know each book adds a layer to the mystery and plot, and if you're like me spoilers are not cool. With saying that you are going to love seeing Lucius again and him coming into his own. He's had a rough road in the 'Afterlife Saga' and had some hard truths to deal with. Now it's his time to get what is his: his Chosen. Amelia is a complex women who thought she knew what she wanted years ago, until other people had a difference of opinion. Now she is trying to build her life her way. Shes tough and not a copy of her mom which is something I was worried about. She is fresh, honest and strong on her own. Luc and Amelia together is electric, with a intense deep connection that they might not even know is there. Each scene jumps off the page. Loved this new mystery saga and new characters (Wendy, Ben, Dante, and Bess) who help them on this journey, and some old favorites. Action, hilarious moments, sexy times and tears too. So much more then you ever think you are going to get. Can't wait for the next.

Riding the fence

So I found reading the 1st half of this book like talking to a person with ADD. They're telling you a story that goes off on a tangent before finally getting back to the original story. This happened SO much that I got confused and frustrated. But finally the story came together. I was not so happy that I had to wait until nearly the end of the book to get the backstory on Lucius and Amelia. I also found myself annoyed with Amelia quite a bit. Overall though, I do like the story enough to continue reading the next installment.

I have learned to hold my opinions when reading Stephaine Hudson ongoings series and spin-offs until the end because she takes you on a serious rollercoaster of emotions ride.

So at this point, I will say I'm captivated and totally focused on this series.

So off to book 2 of the Transfusion series...

I really didn't like this book.
A gag-inducing whiney heroine whose internal monologue is that of a 6-year-old. Then add crappy world-building and a stupid paranormal romance.
I quit at 52%

I really really really tried to like this book. The plot is 1000% what I was looking for and love... BUT THE DISASTROUS WRITING

GOD JUST SHUT UP ALREADY.
The heroine keeps rambling, every noun deserves its own inner monologue - written in a way the author may have thought would be entertaining/funny and make the heroine likable... VERY TRANSPARENT TO THE POINT OF CRINGEY.

THE HEROINE SEEMS TO FEEL EVERY THOUGHT SHE THINKS MAKES HER AN ESPECIALLY SPECIAL LITTLE SNOWFLAKE.

EXAMPLE: she is not a morning person. Well, join the 3/4 other billion people, yet feels the need to dramatize:
“I then smiled at the bus driver in thanks before stepping off onto the curb. Hitching up my bag once more, I made my way back home on foot, getting there in just over a minute. I could literally see my building’s door from the bus stop. Which meant I could have that extra sleep on work days, as I wasn’t exactly a morning person.
In fact, to all who knew me well, I was a morning monster and could rival Hell’s wrath if woken up before I absolutely had to. Which made getting me up in the morning for school a bit of a challenge for my parents. But, since then I liked to think that I had matured in this department and therefore no longer growled like a bear at people should they wish me good“

Who tf cares about EVERY SINGLE DETAIL of getting off the bus?
Is the author attempting to entertain the reader with the ”growling like a bear“ comparison?
All it does is make me cringe.

The basic tone of the book: 10% plot 90% unnecessary rambling with indecipherable sentences:

Another example if not yet convinced:

“I shrugged my shoulders, moved aside and said,
“Have at it, Skippy,” I said, naming him this as he was always nicking my peanut butter, which just so happened to be the best brand EVER in all the history of buttery goodness. Well, it was my favorite anyway and I really would have to love someone to share it, considering my mum would send it in her monthly packages, which also included some of my other American favorites. However, my fellow Americans were really missing out not having crumpets to smother it on as, if you asked me, it was a match made in heaven.”

News flash: apparently LOVING peanut butter is of not relevance and NOBODY CARES.

GOD'S Why oh why did I wait so long to read this book,oh yes waiting for the next two books so I could binge read them all as I knew they all end on a cliff hangers.
I freaking loved being back in the supernatural world of the Vampire King Lucius to find out who is his chosen one is,but I should of known it would be Keira and Dominic Dravens daughter Amelia, as come on how could it not be.

I wasn't sure on Amelia to start with as she seemed a bit of a shy character and not challenging enough for the Vampire King, but the more into this story I got I warmed to her with how her character got stronger the more I read. There was some funny laugh out loud parts along with Wendy, Amelia's best friend, plus plenty of action too.I won't say more as I don't give spoilers away, you will just have to pick up this book and read for yourself, trust me you will love it.

I love getting into Stephanie's world and her story telling, and this was just what I needed my pnr fix, we even get to see Draven pop up in the story along with some new characters.Ohhhh that ending it was just what you expect from this author a cliff hanger of epic proportions.Right now on to the next book.Fantastic story as always.

Predictable

Have you ever lived a character so much that you can imagine their happily ever after?
For anyone that has read the afterlife saga, you would know the love triangle with lucius, Keira, and dom, so imagine my surprise when after the whole will they won't they with lucius and keira, lucius falls for none other than keira and doms daughter! (Cough cough twilight)
I loved the afterlife saga, but this seems just forced. The author spent so much time on the scene setting, describing every outfit on every character, that I think a lot of the story got lost. I also failed to see why some of the situations had to do with the story, like having to pee in the shower, what was all that about?
The plot also felt like it was reused from the first book, with no original story line. I hope the next instalment is better.

My Best Friend in All the World liked this story!! So I tried to like it. But it is so boring. To descriptive. I like to feel like I can see the story but this went way beyond that. This author describes the details of a Museum and the furniture. I keep trying to read it. I figured the storyline would come soon. But the entire storyline is lost with all the internal dialog going on.

I don't know what the point of the story was. i am not sure what it was about!! I am sorry I can't recommend Transfusion!!

The author created a magical world with complex characters but, the never ending inner monologue is what is preventing this series from becoming timeless. The MC goes off on so many tangents that I found myself skipping pages to just see if the plot would pick up.

I don’t need three pages of describing a coffee shop. I get it. The MC is at a coffee shop. I don’t need ten pages describing his muscles and hair color. I get it. He’s a TEN and he has dark blonde hair.

I think the endless descriptions is what is making this series drag and preventing it from being the next hot series. IMO

I did not, could not finish.
I am so confused with the 4 and 5-star ratings, I admit this book has potential but the way it is written slows the book down to a crawl, it is over descriptive (and that's putting mildly) how can you take PAGES to describe a couch? Or a tree? The information given was useless to the advancement of the story. Then there is Amelia's inner monologue.... that can go on for pages and in between, you forget where or why or the question asked leaving me frustrated and bored.
We don't get to meet Lucius until page 62 at the end of chapter 5 which for me added to my frustrations and also I find hard to believe that Amelia could be 100% human when her father is 100% supernatural and her mother is 75% of the supernatural world although 1/4 human, I'm no geneticist but come on, that's BS.
I think this author doesn't understand English grammar as every page was riddled with mistakes. I CAN NOT recommend this rambling nonsense but I do wish the author invests in an editor and grows from this experience.

What can I say? I had higher expectations for this book. I adore afterlife and especially Luc (because who wouldn't love him)

So when I picked it up I thought two things:
1. One of my favourite authors wrote this so it's must be great
2.its ya boy Lucius so what could go wrong?

It starts with Amelia the daughter of Keira and Dom, alright sure. I expected her to be more... kick ass because of her dad and epic family. But she is more like her mother (not a real backbone) and while I didn't mind it with Keira because she was new to the supernatural world I did mind with Amelia.

I don't have much to say about luc because I wouldn't have minded if he only did stupid things. That's how much I Am biased.

The thing that bothered me the most was the fact that it felt like the plot was the same as the first book in the afterlife saga.

BUT because I still like the book I will continue on to book three. Also because of my love for the afterlife saga

I pushed myself through atleast 60% but then I could do no more. I liked the premise of the story; strong independent lead, and the dynamics of the characters; quirky best friend and interesting family connections. However I found the writing to be more juvenile in the style of a young adult fluff piece when I was expecting more adult PNR/erotica. Annnnnddd the incredible amount of boring information dumps that seemed to hold little to no relevance other then showing us how ‘intelligent’ Amelia was. Then for all that proven ‘intelligence’ to wiped away when when the dashing love interest clicks his fingers and says ‘jump’ and she says ‘how high?’, who btw had a thing for her mother, ummm ick!? Meh, shame.

I couldn't finish even 4 chapters. Waaaaay to much boring inner dialogue and I just couldn't get into it. Then I realized this is not even a stand-alone book so the story will drag out for several books before the ending. No thanks. The narration was well done, but the story was not.
