Growing up Shay never experienced what it was like to be loved. At the hands of family members she went thru what no child should be subjected to, molestation. How does one bounce back from a childhood filled with emotion and physical abuse by the hands of those meant to protect you. Like many victims of sexual abuse at a young age, Shay begins to attract the likes of unsavory men. Being used sexually was a normal way of life for the young woman. Thinking she found an escape at the age of twenty-one when Shay meets a young man named Roger. Shay quickly becomes a wife and mother and all should be right finally in Shay’s life, but once again she found herself being abused by the hands of her husband. Shay learns what real pure love was all about the day she gave birth and looked into the innocent eyes of the life she created. Using that love she felt as a crutch she begins to learn how to love herself and begins to live her best life. Throughout all of the struggles and hard times Shay leans on God and begins to develop a relationship with him. Between self-love, a child’s love, and the love of God, Shay becomes the woman she was destined to become and nothing nor no-one can get her to change back in the dark, lonely place she once occupied.
I personally can relate to this read in a couple ways so I'd suggest you to read it for leisure or if you know of someone that's having these type issues or are you that somebody. One click.
This book started out so sad for me. But I was glad that shay found the will to survive. And her struggles wasn't easy. Thank you for sharing this story
Let me first start out by saying thank you! Thank you for being brave enough to tell your story! Thank you for having the courage to want to help others that may be going through what you had to endure. This book tugged at my heart! I don’t think I would have been able to tell anyone what I went through! I pray someone out there reads this and has the courage and strength that you had! I recommend this 5 star read to everyone because you never know who may need the encouragement!
I wish I could be compensated for the time I wasted.
This is one of the worst books I have ever read…. You claimed to NOT ever be a product of your environment, but for awhile you were… You were desperate for the love of a man and laid up with pretty much anybody and even stuck around when you KNEW better. This was not uplifting, and the Facebook group mess was just dumb to me. I didn’t like any of this and won’t read from this author again….
