I’m Lucien Lesauvage, globetrotter. That sounds a lot better than man on the run, doesn't it?
Not that I’ve done anything wrong. My big mistake was doing something right. I solved a huge problem for one particular stone bitch, President Tiffany Thompson. Now, she thinks I'm her slave for life.
This time, she wants me to destroy an eight-hundred-year old Babylonian jinn who's determined to slaughter as many Americans as he can.
And too bad for us, this ancient shapeshifting demon isn't satisfied with fighting in the Middle East. The CIA has learned he plans to bring his jihad to the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Not good. He sounds like a horrible dude, but what I don't understand is why do I always get stuck with Tiffy's nastiest jobs?
Inside the Storm is the second book in a new, action-packed, Dark Fantasy series. And as an added bonus, you’ll learn what to do if you ever step out onto a dark, quiet street and run into a rampaging cyclops.
Michael Arches moved to the Denver, Colorado area in the early 1980’s, and he has never left. Before coming to Denver, he had lived in eight different places, but he and his wife settled down in Colorado and raised their family here. The natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains attracted him here in the first place, and he’s still finding precious jewels in them there hills to write about.
Most series in this genre are pretty much the same in the cookie cutter way where the hero always fights with a minimum of sleep and 'almost' dies several times, then doesn't because of bad-guy hubris or being saved by the support characters.. This one only has the lack-of-sleep part of that standard boring formula. There is the same basic 'almost' love interest that will predictably drag on for another episode or two, but I can deal with that. This one has enough unique additions to make it completely different from the standard fare and fun. Lily and Gus are my favorite, but having the non-magical 'freeze' to be safe from magical battles and weapons is another. I can't wait for the next episode. A solid five stars.
Too frequently the second book in a series doesn’t live up to the expectations you brought from the first one. No worries about that here. The characters continued to develop nicely. Plenty of action. Definitely recommended. Read the first book before this one. The major characters are introduced there and continue to grow.
Another excellent book from the author that kept me from sleeping because I just had to finish it. The story was awesome and I cannot wait for the third book in the series.
