We hear about mindfulness everywhere. But how does it really work? In this short, easy-to-follow book, mindfulness teacher Tessa Watt explains how to use mindfulness every day, by listening to your body, becoming more aware of the present and letting negative thoughts go. A Practical Guide to Mindfulness introduces simple techniques with lots of examples and exercises for newcomers to begin right away. It also outlines deeper mindfulness practice for those who wish to take it further. Put these lessons into action and you'll be able to reduce stress and anxiety, focus better at work, find your own source of calm, and discover genuine contentment.
Tessa Watt teaches mindfulness and is co-director of Being Mindful, an organization which offers mindfulness training for both the public and in workplaces. In her earlier career she was a research fellow in history at Cambridge University, and then for many years a senior producer in BBC Radio and Music.
I would suggest taking notes while reading along to this book like the book suggests so you don’t forget the tips given in this book! This book helped me a lot and I’m glad hat i can put the stuff I learned in this book into practice.
I forgot to review this when I read it as I didn't have a signal when I finished and forgot...it's been a few months and I cannot remember what I planned to say now, other than I enjoyed most of it and planned to give it 4 stars. I would love a more comprehensive review to look back on for my own sake if I planned to reread it at a later date and to help prospective readers decide if they would like to read this, but unfortunately I am not able to provide one.
I found this book very helpful, it's easy to follow and has some great suggestions for activities to try. It's a fantastic introduction to mindfulness.
