Nice little read just to keep my focus & motivation topped up. Definitely will come back & listen to this a few more times, as well as list my own 100 ways to get & stay motivated. I think the most useful thing was just a re-affirmation of the mindset & ideas in staying focused & on track. As we know, attitude is so important in any of our endeavours in life, so it was great to hear Cardone's summary of how to keep that fire of motivation blazing away.

Here's my notes from this book.

1. Work to your potential not your quota
2. Be extraordinary
3. Be known by your actions and how unique they are
4. Fail BIG. Failure is impossible
5. Be the most dependable person you know
6. Be willing to do what no one else will. Things you hate. Or challenges you. Yes theres gonna be fear and anxiety but go for the most difficult sales calls first. Do it. Don't do simple easy things everyday.
7. Give more than is ever expected and is so overwhelming
8. Read a book a week. Challenge yourself to do it.
9. Surround yourself with great people. Kill the negative people. Hack away at them.
10. Stay uncomfortable
11. Move into it not pull away from. Courage is an action
12. Reach up for new friends not sideways for the same
13. Make QT everyday for family. Sched when you will call who
14. Have no white space on your calendar
15. Go to other places and meet new people
16. Force yourself to get up early.
17. Motivation is an inside job
18. Be the most professionally dressed person in your space. Why? Because it sets a signal to you & others
19. Take enough time off you're sick of being off. Most successful people talk little vacations and end it short
20. Exercise. Most people dont do it enough to get the confidence.
21. Be energetic!!!! Even if you don't feel it
22. Drink way more water. Lubricate your body. Hack out the unhealthy foods
23. Make success an *ethical* obligation. Make it urgent. It's your duty. Imagine who you can help & empower by being an authority. By making the news, not watching it. So don't be afraid to do what you have to to get the job done
24. Give way more than is ever expected of you
25. Ignore haters
26. Dominate not compete in your space
27. Be the 'celeb' and go to person in your space
28. Find monster problems to eat
29. Bill Gates read 13 books while he was on holiday. He was fuelling himself for greatness - to stay motivated
30. Fuel your motivation, not seek it - keep throwing logs on the fire. Don't waste time on decisions, Grant took 9 days to decide to spend millions on a private jet. How many of us spend time dilly dallying on spending $6k? The point is, commit to something, and find monster problems to tackle. Not tiny itty bitty ones.
31. At football games players get paid, spectators pay. Which one are you? A player or a spectator here to watch?

Very practical and helpful book. Lots of great advice. Below are some of my takeaways from this book:

If you’re not motivated, you’re not going to get up and take action.

No one can tell you what you are capable of, only you know your true potential, so work towards it.

Shoot for the extra ordinary, not just the ordinary.

Do what others are not willing to do.

Be willing to fail.

Be unique . Be set apart by your actions and attitudes. Don’t try to be like everyone else, be different.

Do things that push you and challenge you. Most people do the easy things, therefore they are not motivated.

Give more than is expected of you. Don’t worry about people taking advantage, you will actually receive much more by giving more.

Surround yourself by winners. Get a mastermind group. Be around people that stretch you and become fuel for your dreams.

Read one book a week. The average American reads one book per year. If you want to separate yourself and reach your full potential, aim to read one book a week.

Cut out the negative people in your life. Reach up, not sideways or down, or you will kill your dreams and motivation.

Stay uncomfortable. Your discomfort is an indication that you are pushing through something.

Do things you’re scared to do. It will give you more confidence, boldness, and motivation.

Motivation isn’t something that you go and fill up on, you have to refuel yourself. Do things you are afraid of, and you will be refueling.

Surround yourself with positive reminders. Great people create their own environment. Surround yourself with positive messages and you will be positive and stay motivated.

Avoid people that refuse to accept responsibility in their life.

Throw the concept of balance out the window and seek to be exceptional. Seek to be exceptional in every area of your life.

Look to control time and not manage time.

Make quality time for your family every day. Don’t look for the time, make it.

Use and keep a full calendar.

Go to sleep early at night. If you stay up too late, you likely waste time or take in junk from TV that you do not need.

Get things done before the deadline. People that wait until the deadline usually don’t accomplish as much. It will motivate you to beat the deadlines.

Have a daily battle plan – write a to-do list for every day. Let everyone else just show up for work, but you show up with a daily battle plan, and you’ll accomplish more and be more motivated.

Be the most professionally, best dressed person in the room. Motivation is an inside job, so don’t take shortcuts on how you dress. Don’t worry how everyone else dresses.

Take enough time off that you are tired of taking off. Don’t go away for two days, take the amount of time you need until you are fired back up and can’t wait to go back to work.

Avoid drama TV and drama radio. You do not need the negative drama influence in your life, so get it out. Most news channels are not really giving news rather giving opinions and drama.

Look for an opportunity to help someone every day. Each person and circumstance will be different, but look for new opportunities every day. When you seek to help someone else, you will end up being energized and motivated.

You need to get a little bit of exercise every day. The hardest thing about exercise is getting started, but once you do, it will motivate you.

Eat healthy foods you can afford, and it will affect the way you feel.

Be energetic, whether you feel like it or not. It doesn’t matter if you are in your groove; force yourself to be energetic.

Take a power nap. Doesn’t matter what others think, if a nap will help you, then do it.

Listen to some music that will energize you. You don’t have to listen all day, but do listen.

Stop saying no to everything and start saying yes. You don’t need to think about it or get back to someone, say yes, even if you are not comfortable or enjoy it. You might find that you like new foods and new hobbies if you will just learn to say yes more often.

When people say things cannot be done, be deaf towards it. You will most certainly hear negative news, but be deaf towards the naysayers.

Be the originator of news instead of the receiver of news. Make news instead of watching it.

Become the expert in your space, be the person that people go to in your area of expertise.

This central idea powers How to Get and Stay Motivated, a book that offers more than just a quick fix for slumps or bursts of inspiration. It’s a practical guide that breaks down the psychology of motivation and teaches you how to build sustainable habits that fuel long-term progress.

The book is well-structured and accessible, making it ideal for readers who feel stuck, inconsistent, or unsure of how to translate their goals into consistent action. The tone is conversational, yet firm—like a coach who won’t let you off the hook, but genuinely wants to see you win.

Highlights:
Actionable Frameworks: The book doesn’t just inspire; it equips. From building routines to tracking progress, it offers systems that can be customized to individual lifestyles.

Mental Shifts: There’s a strong focus on mindset, helping the reader move from relying on emotional highs to building internal discipline.

Stories and Case Studies: Real-life anecdotes and examples make the content relatable, reminding us that motivation is a daily choice, not a once-in-a-blue-moon miracle.

Noteworthy Concepts:
Motivation follows action, not the other way around — a powerful reframe that challenges the traditional wait-for-inspiration approach.

Environment design as a tool for behavior change—small tweaks in your surroundings can lead to big improvements in consistency.

Momentum over perfection — the idea that doing something is always better than doing nothing, no matter how small.

Drawbacks:
While the book is strong on strategy, readers looking for deep psychological or scientific research might find it a bit surface-level. It leans more on experience and practical wisdom than academic rigor.

Verdict:
How to Get and Stay Motivated is a solid, no-nonsense guide that’s especially valuable for professionals, students, and creatives battling procrastination or inconsistency. It doesn’t promise instant results—but it delivers a roadmap for real, sustainable change.

Recommended for your personal library, especially if you're building a high-performance mindset or navigating a career pivot.

Grant cardone is a fraud. If you threw Brian Tracy, or Jordan Belfort into a call center, or a door to door gig, they would crush it. Grant Cardone doesn't believe in sales techniques, he just believes in "massive action" and marketing. Well great grant, but maybe also add in some actual sales knowledge to put your marketing to better use.

He's easily the worst sales trainer in the industry, and all his books are basically the same.

If you want motivation, pick up eat that frog. If you want sales skills go way of the wolf. Grant gives laughably bad advise.

Grant Cardone consistently delivers the car salesman crossed preacher grift energy I need.

The secret is to treat it a bit like WWE and not get too caught up in the meme but also appreciate the genuine quality of the genre.

For those enjoyers of the sales person motivation genre, I recommend the tape: 12 Rules of Success which is my all time favourite of Cardone.

Motivation is often the result of action, not the cause of it. Getting started, even in very small ways, is a form of active inspiration that naturally produces momentum.

A very brisk read that can be finished within an hour or two.

Very good if you want a blast of motivation to start your day strong. This little gem offers motivational tips broken down into memorable and quick 1-page segments bound to set your head in a new direction.

You'll get 100 nuggets of Grant's motivational mojo as he inspires you to shoot for the extraordinary and never ever settle. While some lessons tend to repeat the theme of others it further serves to make one remember through repetition. I do gravitate towards the audio version of this book, because one can play and re-play as needed. I feel it's actually better and more impactful when you listen and re-listen.

Love him, or hate him, the advice is nonetheless very empowering as it focuses on your two most important strengths belief in yourself & action.

Happy reading all

Amazing! Cardone gives step-by-step actions to take in order to get the most out of your life, and better those whom you come in contact with. I felt pumped after listening to this book, and have witnessed the benefits come from applying the principles found therein. I listen to this book on a weekly basis, in hopes of finding another action to implement, thus causing me to level up. No matter where you are at in life, I am confident that you will reap major benefits from listening and applying the challenges he has set in this audio. Thanks Cardone!

same old non realistic ( you should do this and that )
you are poor because you are not trying enough. you are over weight because you do not control your diet. I kinda gave up trying to give him any credit when he said .. "don't let any one fool you to think you are depressed .. just ride it on and get your self out of depression .. it's all fake !!" I'm like .. huh :/
so yeh I wouldn't waste time reading any of his books.

It wasn't bad, some good bits about consistency and not focusing on money. As well as not comparing yourself to others, but too many platitudes and rah rah sales pitch-style jargon to really enjoy it. Like I said, it was a quick read (listen) and has some good parts. YMMV
