I won this book in a goodreads drawing.
Second book in a trilogy where the protagonist becomes a demon in order to fight the powers of Hell. Counter-intuitive, I thought. She is stalked by Demon Hunters, and finds that humanity is no bed of roses either.

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. As soon as I finished the first book I went right on to the second one. I had to see what Sera and Damon were going to do do next. I not sure I was all that surprised that Sera went dark. She is starting her new life as a demon and that is putting a lot of weight on her. There is that dealing with Sera's father who is just evil itself and he uses all of those around his for his own gain. I think it is sweet that Damon will do just about anything for Sera. This show a very human side of him as a demon. It is a book that kept me guessing on what is going to happen next. This is very powerful writing that only makes me crave for more.

This second book in the Ensouled Trilogy continues to captivate and leave the audience wondering where it will lead. Sera's next chapter in her life, this time as a demon, with her demon boyfriend Damon and their relationship with her Demon Ensoul father, Lorenzo, certainly keep the reader guessing as to what will happen next. I found myself constantly routing for Sera and her boyfriend in their battles along the way. The book is just as exciting as the 1st, and it left me hoping the 3rd book will be out soon, as I'm anxious to read what happens next and where it will ultimately lead!

Great book! Read through this so quickly. Can't wait for the final book although I'll be sad when it's over!!

I was surprised how Sera embraced Evil and it took Damon to help her see the wrong in her way. I hated to see her so torn but we got to see the truth of her nature and of Lorenzo in this high stake, suspenseful and action filled book.
For me Damon was the one who showed us more humanity and his love for Sera knows no bounds. He would anything for her. We got to see how much he truly changed over time. I love his questioning of Lorenzo from the beginning and how he was always doing what he thought was right. He doesn’t embrace evil like he once did. He has a conscience and feelings. Seeing his decisions in this book and how he tried to help Sera but not force her to see his way was awesome.
Lorenzo is a maniacally evil creature. He uses anyone and anything to get to his end means. there was no amount of words to describe him and what he did. His manipulations show how depraved he was. Watching him turn people and find it to be just another day was disturbing. Especially his way with Sera. That was beyond the pale.
This is a story filled with strife, anger and danger. We see double crossing, manipulation and evil at its finest. The writing keeps you hanging in the book and you are holding by a thread like the characters wondering what way things will turn. Again for me it was Damon in this book for me. He was trying from the beginning to break the cycle of evil and Lorenzo while protecting and being there for Sera. Loved that. Sera changed but she had to fight to stop evil from taking her over complete. The final battle was awesome so much packed in that scene. A book on embracing your dark side but needing to fight it as well to do what is best. A action packed exciting book that keeps you needing to know what will happen and rooting for Sera to fight and Lorenzo to help her see the truth but not overpower her with thoughts but just be there. A great continuation to the story and I do wonder what is next for Sera and Lorenzo and how evil will change.

>This is the second book in the Ensouled Trilogy. The conflict in this book is over, but the battle still isn’t won. I did not read the first book in this trilogy. As a result, this book was very hard to follow. All of the demons have different identities from when they were human. Both identities were used to describe the characters. I had a hard time following who was who. Sera is a demon/human hybrid. She is second in command to her father, Lorenzo. Another demon, Damon, is her boyfriend.
>The whole story revolves around human demon hunters fighting demons. Demons are described as evil and Sera made some very compassionate choices claiming she used her inner evil to make her decisions. Evil and compassion do not go together, so I was very confused about what exactly was being inferred. Both Sera and Damon seem smarter that the average demon or human, yet the drug Blaze did not set off any warning bells for them. Lorenzo used the drug to control the demons, yet no one figured that out until the very end?
>The plot is weak. Humans vs. demons. There isn’t much real action, only the threat of action to come. There are few chapters set in the past, but their relevance to the present isn’t clear, other than the reader is able to meet Sera’s mother. There aren’t any love scenes, nor any real romantic scenes to highlight the relationship and chemistry between Sera and Damon. Damon seems more like a bodyguard to Sera, than a boyfriend.

I hadn't read anything by this author before, so after I ran into this book, and was grabbed by the blurb, I went and got the first book. I feel this is a must. There is a lot of detail in the first book, with loads of conflict, the base of each character being set and the background started.
This book carries on with the previous book vey ellie. We are left jut in the middle of the full on war, and are left with a main character who is struggling with the self. She doesn't know what to do or which way to let her future flow. Along the way, as she is preparing to make her decision, we are given loads of detail and background.
Once a choice has been made, and the wrong one in my opinion, she is joined by someone she trusts and we ar given even more, as the two battle with the ideas of where things are headed and how to deal with what has passed. I liked that the author not only gave us a lot of detail to the main character, but also to the very important secondary characters. I felt that this was one of the major reasons I liked the book.
The other reason was the author's ability to really place us in the world, with the characters, and make us feel as though we are a part of the story. She really showed us the conflict, emotions and actions of them and this really built a world I could sink into and enjoy.
Overall, this was a great read. I am very much looking forward to read the next book.

February 7, 2017First of all, I did not read the first book in this trilogy so I felt a little lost at first. There are a lot of twists and turns in this book that really keep the reader on the edge of their seat and as much difficult as Sera has figuring out the truth, it's just as difficult for the reader to do so. Sera is clearly conflicted over what to believe is truth and the author really captured that struggle; she has a loved one on each side of the argument trying to sway her to their side and it's clear to see that she hopes they're both being honest with her. This book was told in the third person so that the reader could know all sides of the story and it helps us know what we think might happen next.
It seemed like the plot was building to this big conflict between good & evil, but when the actual battle happened it was very quick and almost seemed rushed when reading it; the pacing was a bit off the entire book, with the beginning part dragging & the ending being rushed. It also ended on a bit of a cliffhanger so we have to wait to see what happens with Sera & her fellow demons (I get why they're good ideas but I personally do not appreciate cliffhangers - because then I have to sit and wait for the next book to be released to find out the conclusion). The book is listed on Amazon & Goodreads as book #2 of a trilogy, so maybe the next book will help tie it all together.

December 23, 2016So excited that book #2 is out! Reading about Sera is like visiting with an old friend. Love how descriptive the author is with her wording. Makes you truly visualize the story.
