For the first time in his life, Trevor Ladouceur is comfortable in his skin. He’d spent his entire life denying he was gay, convinced it was the only way he could live out his dream of playing hockey in the NHL. The reason for the change? Trevor’s new boyfriend, Derek LaVigne.
The two had been best friends and linemates on the gold medal-winning Team Canada at the World Junior Championship years ago. After a night of celebration ends in passion, Trevor panics and leaves before Derek wakes up the following morning. Years later, Derek is traded to the team Trevor plays for, the Detroit Wheels. Trevor is forced to face some hard truths—not only is he gay, but he’s also in love with Derek. When the coach of the Wheels puts them together both on and off the ice, Trevor realizes he doesn’t want to lose Derek again.
Now Trevor is convinced he can have it all—a career and the man he loves. All he has to do is figure out how to come out to his family, keep his relationship secret from the rest of his teammates, and win the Stanley Cup.
D K Dunn has enjoyed writing since childhood. She penned her first story, which was a Snoopy/”Star Wars” mash up at the tender age of 8. Several years later her imagination is still running wild. Her best ideas come to her while she’s either stuck in traffic or in the shower.
She’s a proud fangirl, who loves “Supernatural,” “Star Wars,” and the Detroit Red Wings. Reality TV is one of her guilty pleasures. A day can easily be wasted falling under its siren-like spell. When she’s not writing or watching too much TV, she enjoys traveling, reading, vidding, cheese and ice cream. She’s a firm believer that you can’t go a day without cheese or a good laugh.
I didn’t know this was a sequel book until I saw it in the reviews. It sounds like this is a single book turned into two, and this one is the post-getting together phase with the coming out problems. I don’t particularly want to read just the coming out angst as a book, so this is a no go for me.
This is the long awaited sequel to Linemates. Trevor and Derek, two of my favorite gay hockey players who truly love and depend on each other. They have grown up and grown into their love for one another. Their careers mean a lot to them and as they try to keep true to who they are while playing in the big league, they hope that their secret doesn't come out. It's not always easy. There is a bit of conflict, but there is lots of love, romance and action. On and off the ice. It was such a great read, that I couldn't put it down and I didn't want it to end. I recommend it to everyone who loves romantic love and hockey action. I give it 5 out of 5 stars.
Great way to start the New Year. Such a fun emotional read about the life of Trevor and Derek. The relationship has matured in this book and follows as they juggle a career and family. Love all of the hockey references, not just fluff, but could see how this could really happen out there. Great sequel to Linemates, but you don't have to read first book to love this one.
After reading the first book introducing Derek and Trevor I kept thinking I want to know how their story goes. Thank you so much for continuing their story! It was a fun and awesome read!
