It’s time to take Buzz and Fly Guy in a new direction, placing them in the middle of a movie! Buzz has decided to take his superhero self, Buzz Boy, and add Fly Guy to the mix of a movie he has plotted out. Buzz Boy and Fly Guy are set upon by aliens from another planet. Captured and held by these green beings, Buzz Boy and Fly Guy will need the help of others in order to save the day. It’s sure to be a great adventure, with the perfect cliffhanger moment to ensure a sequel is in the works! Neo laughed when he saw what his two favourite characters were doing in this piece. It got him to thinking that they should make a full animated classic of these books for others to enjoy, especially kids around the world!

One of the weaker Fly Guy books, in my opinion. There is something great about kids role playing and making films but the story got a little much. I guess that accurately reflects younger kids, who tend to take a really long time to tell a story and add a lot of odd details. That being said I just wasn't in the mood for this one and didn't care for the execution. Kids, however, love these books!

Cute story - I liked the acknowledgment of the plot hole, and the idea of making it a sequel hook!

This is a fiction book about a little boy named Buzz. He has a pet named Fly Guy. Can you imagine having a fly as a pet? It’s definitely strange but Fly Guy is pretty cool. He has a bunch of books about him.

In this book, Buzz wants to make a movie. It’s called Fly Guy and the Alienzz. He spells Alienzz wrong on purpose. In the movie, aliens suck up Fly Guy and Buzz Boy into a solid gold spaceship. They are trapped. Then, Fly Guy escapes to get help from their friend, Dragon Dude. He’s my favorite. I like dragons who have spikes on their head and can spit fireballs.

When the aliens see Dragon Dude, they get mad and crush Fly Guy’s secret hero fort. The aliens try to tie up Dragon Dude but that’s not easy for the small aliens. Then, Fly Girl and Fly Guy come back into the movie to save the day. The aliens shoot at them with fly-swatter shooters. It’s really fun. The ending is cool.

I loved the action in this book. I like making my own characters out of Play-Doh and creating movies about them. I especially like fire breathing dragons. I want to read another Fly Guy book. They are funny and filled with action. I give this a five star review. I recommend this book for kids ages four and up.

I like this Fly Guy story a little better than the other because it has a more distinct series of events to follow. This book is about Fly Guy and Buzz fighting off alien invaders and saving Fly Girl from being captured, but the whole story is really a mini movie that Buzz is making using props. This story has a little humor to it. When Buzz and Fly Guy conclude their film, they realize that they forgot to have Fly Guy rescue Buzz's character from where he is tied up on the alien ship on another planet. They decide to ignore the plot hole and to leave Buzz there, which I liked.

My two boys love all the Fly Guy books series and we have almost read them all. They always give them a five star rating, but this book in the series, my son wanted to give this one a four because he kinda didn't like being left in the dark on what happened to buzz boy. He wanted to know if it was in another fly guy story and I had to break it to him that there wasn't one... totally doesn't deter him from reading the rest Fly Guy books in the series or rereading this book or anything though! Just a small let down.

Genre: Children's Literature
Grades: K-2

As an adult, this book felt a little choppy. However, I did notice that this book started with a chapter and moved into calling each section a scene. While a student may not notice this, I found it a little strange but it could be used to illustrate the difference between a scene and a chapter.

Buzz has a pet fly named Fly Guy. Along with his pet, Buzz makes a movie about aliens or alienzz as Fly Guy calls them. Engaging pictures and words. Pictures are attractive with vibrant colors. An easy reader chapter book. Cybil's Blog.

This is a book in the science fiction genre. It was about a boy who had a pet fly. He made a movie with aliens that captured the boy and the pet fly. A dragon is in the story too, he had to rescue them. It was a great example of the use of a child's imagination.

Kids like these funny, easy to read Fly Guy chapter books with plenty of full color illustrations and action.

This one may appeal to kids who want to make their own movies as Buzz and Fly Guy make their own alien movie.

The illustrations highlight both creativity and joy. Young readers will not only enjoy the story but may also draw inspiration from Buzz’s movie-making project, using a smart phone, homemade sets, and hand-drawn characters glued to popsicle sticks. A great activity to do during the school closures!

Cute read with my kiddos. I've never read a fly guy before, but my 1st grader knows how much I love movies and making videos, so she made a point to have me read this one. Now it's a regular in our bedtime reads.

Buzz and Fly Guy make a movie with aliens, dragons, space pirates, villains and hero's in it. Lots of action, suspense, danger, daring escapes, and of course a sequel in the works.
