True Porn is back The critically acclaimed anthology of autobiographical sex stories has returned for a second volume of funny, heart-breaking, and crazy all-true comics Featuring some today's brightest cartoonists, True Porn Volume 2 is chock full of the real-life exploits of Sam Henderson (Magic Whistle), Rich Tommaso (Perverso ), Glenn Head (Snake Eyes), Hope Larson (Flight Volume Two), Kaz Strzepek (Redingk Weekly), and 40 more great talents. From the highs to the lows of our most basic urge, True Porn Volume 2 promises to be frank, honest, and always entertaining
True stories of the sex lives of cartoonists, ranging from hysterical failed attempted at phone sex to depressing one sided tales of love and pretty much everything in between. Sweet, funny, disturbing, and a new take on a traditional comics genre. Not as strong a volume overall as the first Volume (which is basically IMPOSSIBLE to get anywhere) but this one has some of my personal favorite tales and artists the first book was missing. Volume 3? Anyone? Anyone?
I remember reading this and feeling underwhelmed. I think I may have mistakenly approached it with expectations? The stuff that held my interest wasn't generally pornographic in terms of arousing content so much as in terms of "offensive" content, and I've generally found no lack of genitals in the indie comics world. The stuff that was drawn to be arousing I remember not particularly being my cup of tea. But the only comic I can specifically remember from this was a particularly charming piece about one of the writers remembering his early attempts to figure out what sex was, including an effort at lying on top of a friend while naked and declaring that sex, so maybe there are other comics in here that were actually good and I'm just spacing.
True Porn Volume 1 was probably the first book that had me admitting that MAYBE I liked comics. Picked Volume 2 up at the Bethesda Small Press Expo with great glee - I'd been waiting for it all year!
Another fun collection of dirty stories with a great variety of art styles. True Porn ranges from cute, to offensive, to silly and funny, to romantic, to experimental, to sad. It's real life, and real sex, and an awesome way to get into someone else's head.
A sign that I might be a BIT of a comic book nerd? I'm starting to recognize artists' styles...
nothing is greater than comix authors getting together and doing an anthology about sex and sexuality in their lives At turns hilarious and sad and some generally good storytelling. the follow up from the also great True Porn number, now out of print.
This collection of true short stories in graphic form promises to be about sex -- but is largely about insecurity, desperation and loneliness. Some of the stories are comic; several of them are heartbreaking.
