After being saved from a near-death experience, Henry finds himself swept up in the flashy life of wealthy elite Regina Mills. He doesn't expect the week long getaway from his life in the foster system. He doesn't expect the new clothes or the endless food or the fancy penthouse. And he definitely doesn't expect having to play matchmaker for two grown women who really ought to be able to work this out for themselves.
A fluffy AU about finding family inspired by the movie musical Annie Fandom: Once Upon a Time (TV) Relationship: Regina Mills/Emma Swan Words: 35,449 Chapters: 4/4
Jhosy keeps finding some great SQ fiction and this one is no exception. Loosely based on the movie Annie (1982) This is the story of how little orphan Henry finds not one but two moms.
Running into traffic after having stolen a sandwich, Henry is almost hit by a car when he is yanked back to safety by a woman. Startled by the stern looking brunette who is still holding onto him by his coat, Henry takes off running back to Mr Gold's orphanage where he lives with several other boys.
A few days later the woman's assistant turns up at the orphanage with an invitation to lunch. From there young Henry's life takes a turn when he is invited to spend his mid winter break with famous actress Regina Mills and her assistant Emma Swan.
What follows are some of the happiest moments of Henry's life. He really likes the two women, especially Emma, but what will happen when the vacation is over and he has to move back to the orphanage? If only he could stay with them, it's almost like they are a family of their own. At least they would be if only Emma and Regina could just give in and be together like they want to.
Need something sweet, relatively angst free and heartwarming to read? Then this is the fic for you. Told for the majority from Henry's POV, this cute story made me grab a tissue or two because who doesn't love the story of an orphan finally finding a loving family and home. 4,5* rating!
I must say that I shouldn't be surprised by the variety of genres that this author works and develops so well, but well ... I am. I believe it is difficult to find someone so versatile that writes so well on many subjects. I believe I have read several of her narratives while she was under the pseudonym of AMooPoint, and this is a long list of works. Narratives ranging from comedy to action, to sci-fi and then to drama and anguish, and then to horror and suspense ... Whew ... I love her experiments and they end up being always different and wonderful. Anyway ... Let's go to this review! This story is told, in large part, from Henry's point of view. Henry is a boy of about 10 year old who is an orphan. He lives temporarily with Gold, who is a guardian appointed by the foster care system. Along with him live other children and teenagers. One day Henry is running away from a man after stealing a sandwich and without paying attention rushes to a avenue full of car. He was sure he would die then, but he is saved by a very elegant brunette, but that is also very rigorous. Next to this brunette is a blonde who is kinder, however with the fear of being discovered and caught by the man, he runs away from the two women, leaving with them his coat where contained the stolen sandwich. Henry spends days thinking about this and then the blonde shows up at his temporary home wanting to talk to him. From this moment on, Henry's life will change forever. He will meet the famous actress Regina Mills who saved him from being run over and her assistant Emma Swan, who is idiotic and gentle. He will fall in love with these two women who act as a couple, but can't take on this title. As well like the idea of having a relative who loves you and care for you. This is a cute story about a child who had nothing and then found a home. Under Henry's eyes we will learn about Emma and Regina's relationship and how their lives intertwine. I usually don't like stories told by a third character, but ... I was sure that lostlilsnail wouldn't disappoint me and I was right. Again the author proves how solid her writing is, leading the reader to feel various emotions during her narrative. Obviously, one of these emotions is to make you laugh (even when the subject is obscure, the author will always put an ounce of humor at some point and I love it.). Anyway ... I can't wait for her next work. What will it be this time? A comedy like her last work or a horror like her story "The Riverside Spook House"? Oh ... I'm already anxious and excited. A thousand kudos and my eternal gratitude.
4 Stars. A well written Once Upon A Time tale which is told from ten year old Henry’s point of view.
In this story Regina first encounters Henry, when she pulls him from certain death when he dashes into oncoming NYC (?) traffic. Regina is a very famous movie star and Emma is her PA. Emma visits Henry at the orphanage where he lives and invites him to spend his winter break week with Regina. The time he spends with the two women are the happiest in his life. Through Henry we learn about Regina and Emma’s complicated relationship. Although Henry doesn’t think it’s complicated and doesn’t understand why they are not a real couple. In the beginning Henry spends much of his time with Emma, as Regina’s business ventures take up most of her time. I was beginning to wonder how Henry could bond to Regina - but he does during the quiet moments at night and in the mornings when they are alone. Eventually Regina cuts back and spends time with Henry & Emma.
If you want to read a sweet story, I highly recommend this one.
I'm not very sure about this one, I enjoyed the story. It had this underlying tension with the way Regina worked way too much, which I think I would have enjoyed more if it was portrayed in a DWP fic. The overworking didn't fit the image I have of Regina that well. Maybe some of the settings are just to close to DWP for my liking.
4 stars. A very heart felt story of Henry finding a home with Regina and Emma. I really enjoyed it. It was written well, there was a bit of angst and humor and a sweet romance between Emma and Regina. Just what I wanted.
