Two Sisters Repentia have been sent to retrieve a holy relic of the Ecclesiarchy from a dangerous world. As they seek a way off the planet with their prize, danger looms…
READ IT BECAUSE It's a look at a little-explored side of the Adepta Sororitas – the repentant sisters who have transgressed and seek absolution.
THE STORY When a sister of the Adepta Sororitas transgresses, she takes the oath of the Repentia. Casting off arms and armour, she takes up the holy Eviscerator and embarks on the most dangerous missions her Canoness has to offer, in the hope of redemption in the eyes of the immortal God-Emperor. Two such Sisters Repentia have been despatched to a feral world in search of a long-lost relic of the Ecclesiarchy, the writings of a martyred hero. Can they survive the trials and tribulations that they face as they seek a way off the world with their prize?

Two nameless Sisters Repentia are all that remains of their squad, sent out to search for a priceless relic that might turn the tide of an ongoing campaign. Though their prize is at hand, the forces of Chaos stand between them and safety, and the God-Emperor has need of their lives yet.
The unnamed protagonist of this story is a fervent, intense zealot, screaming prayers as she fights and giggling with anticipation of the redemption she hopes to find in death, and whose threadbare sanity grants her phenomenal power. Worley throws her into a relentless, gruelling, fast-paced and action-packed narrative which should be preposterous but is in fact satisfyingly over the top and entirely appropriate.
While the concept of the Repentia actually makes sense given the generally fanatical nature of the Sororitas ("nuns with guns"), in practice they have mostly been an excuse for fanservice. Glad to see them finally getting some serious attention in the lore. The unnamed protagonist is portrayed as a muscular zealot screaming prayers while covered in blood and gore, while her companion was apparently an older woman, as opposed to a couple of swimsuit models wearing nothing but purity seals. Not sure how an ordinary human with no power armor can successfully take daemons and Space Marines, but .
An interesting look into the mental disposition of a sister repentia, albeit the ending resolution feels a bit on the cheaper side. The only other main complain is about one sentence in particular, the one concerning "alpha animal"...for christ's sake, can we stop using an outdated concept that doesn't actually exist in nature once and for all? Other than that, if you hunger for Adepta Sororitas material to read go with this instead of the atrocious Sisters of Battle omnibus by James Swallow and you'll be better served.
"The Emperor had bestowed upon her Sister the blessing of death, finally absolving the Repentia's terrible sins, while her own redemption had been denied yet again, thwarted by her talent for combat. The emperor was not yet ready to accept her soul."
