Boyd Wyatt told Chris that if she played the femme fatale and won over Clive Huston's consent to a deal, there would be a contract for her father.Chris was only too successful -- and Boyd soon found he had provided himself with a rival.
Kay Green was born on 31 December 1927 in Bradford, Yorkshire, England, UK. On 1 October 1949, she married Gavin Frederick Green, they had a son and a daughter.
One of those nice love tangles where everyone thinks the person they love is in love with someone else.
Good old fashioned tale of love with a millionaire businessman (back in the day before billionaire's ruled) and a nice girl willing to do anything to help out her dad's struggling business.
Macho hero and good girl heroine and a satisfactory ending for everyone involved.
Chris approaches the business Boyd Wyatt to ask him to give the contract to her father's company as they find themselves in dire financial troubles. The tycoon tells her of his own problems. He's to develop a certain Greek island but the only inhabitant of the island refuses to move and negotiate. The tycoon makes a suggestion - she goes to the island, tries to charm the block living there and her father gets the contract. Chris thinks it unethical but is willing to save her father's company. Her plan is to go straight to the recluse and to negotiate openly. But the things don't go accordingly and Chris meets Clive under pretence. Clive is hiding on his island as he’s afraid to face the real world. Chris really wants to help him, but Boyd Wyatt is always under their feet.
P.S. I believe Roumelia Lane likes killing the most likable characters.
This started off well with a capable heroine (19) and a money focused hero (mid30s) gradually falling for each other. The problem is that the neurotic OM spoiled the book. Then to add to the tedium, the OW (who is really the ex-fiancée of the OM) had drama about stolen jewellery that led the heroine to assume that the hero was having a relationship (he had known her previously we are told, then he goes to stay with her at a farm, dines with her, she stays at his villa, etc). Somehow the heroine is supposed to just know that this is not a romantic relationship?! She is not so innocent either, as she feels sorry for the OM and lets her feelings for him cloud her judgement. It's a shame the MCs were not just left to it as they had interesting personalities before all the drama. 3 star story.
