Many people have crossed him. Now he’s crossing them off his hit list… PI Frank Tower returns in this second installment of the riveting investigation series, where a troubled singer gets caught up in a serial killer's deadly plan. To thousands of adoring fans, Kinnie Mason lives a charmed life as a famous singer. But her highs turn to lows behind closed doors, where she turns to drugs to survive her high-pressure lifestyle. She’s lucky to have her manager Barry at her side, always ready to talk her out of making any deadly mistakes. But things turn south when she witnesses a murder and turns to drugs to cope. When Kinnie’s statement isn’t taken seriously, Kinne hires a PI who understands lost causes- Frank Tower. Frank learns that the murder she witnessed is only the latest in a series of cold-blooded executions, all of them matching the same MO—two shots to the head and an ice pick through the mouth, to silence the victims for good. Frank will risk everything to track down the killer and learn the secrets his victims were keeping.
Mel Taylor uses his experiences in life to shape his work and his characters, along with his many years in television news where he has won an Emmy Award. Mel's latest book is The Exclusive, from Severn River Publishing. This is book one in the series, featuring TV reporter Booker Johnson.
This was an entertaining book. After being worried about the lack of depth for the characters, I really thought the Kinnie Mason character was well done. This is a thriller and a page turner for sure. Some editing issues such as repeating paragraphs were a slight detraction, but overall I really enjoyed it.
Thank you to author Mel Taylor for this Kindle copy of Down tot he Last Mark. Also, thanks to Goodreads for hosting the opportunity.
I liked it. The book was engaging throughout with mostly a good set of well defined and imagined characters, and the story had a nice pace to it. The ever challenging ending to a story was a bit off here. The final showdown was just a bit over the top.
There were some missing and/or misplaced words throughout, and the formatting, perhaps from the transfer to the Kindle file format, was off throughout the book. Some editing should have been done here.
Other than that, I thought it a good story and a good read.
I enjoyed this book very much. It was a fast paced thriller that kept you wondering what was going to happen. The characters were good and kept your interest.
I won this book (kindle version) on Goodreads for an honest review.
A book with some real potential! This book has a pretty good character build, some characters are very likable and realistic and others eh. The story line itself kept me turning the pages and very engaged. If you can overlook some of the errors in the book it is well worth the read. All in all I am very thankful I won this book as it was a very good story with good characters and plenty of twists to keep me engaged.
A serial killer is targeting a specific list of people. A famous celebrity also gets targeted by virtue of her being a witness to a murder and hires Frank Tower to find the murderer but Frank's wife is also a target. How can Frank save them both? This is a page turner which is gripping and fast paced.
It was an addicting read and I wanted to find out what happened, but I thought the writing left a lot to be desired and the characters were poorly developed.
Won this book via GoodReads, story started about a singer high on drugs, then a marked person killing people who were on the witness protection. Ended up being a good book.
I was pulled into this book right away and couldn't put it down. Action packed that kept me on edge the whole time. Great story line and characters. Highly recommended
Frank Tower's wife Shannon goes missing. She was part of a witness protection program and Frank did not know this. A number of murders of the group in the witness protection program web site. Shannon is on the run to keep ahead of the killer and keep Frank safe. But Frank will not quit hunting for her. A gripping novel that catches your interest from the beginning and a thrilling conclusion.
This book has an interesting storyline and plenty of action to keep you engaged. If I rated my reading experience on the story alone, this would be much higher than the 3 stars I gave it. Unfortunately a good storyline is marred by too many errors to be ignored.
